Fantastic, friendly, knowledgeable, thoughtful, engaged, as curious as those of us who had never been here before!

Hotel Reviews
Hotel Eco Arenal
Fortuna

No lunch or dinner on site. Most days lunch wasn’t needed however, was presented as 3 meals available on site. Room was sparse but functional - suggest adding a chair or two so there is more seating than the bed. Campus was beautiful and the resident chickens and cat were entertaining.

Authenticity & Character
Beautiful flowers, Arenal volcano and monkey and macaw or toucan siting. Lots of colorful small birds fed near outdoor eating area entertained with breakfast.
Location
On the edge of town so a longer walk to the businesses/shopping downtown.

Hotel Presidente
San José

Late night arrival so limited exposure. We did wander to the rooftop bar for a drink - beautiful patio and gardens as well as interesting speakeasy decor inside.

Authenticity & Character
Location
City area seemed to need the gates at the entry. Again, night arrival and early morning departure limited experience.

La Foresta Nature Resort
Quepos

Beautiful grounds and helpful staff.

Authenticity & Character
Tica time and garden beauty in full display
Location
On a main highway so walking anywhere was not recommended. Being away from the restaurants/beaches/shopping, etc was a bit isolating. Room was spacious, employees were helpful and kind. Restaurants menu limited. Primarily ate breakfast daily. Loved the fresh fruit selections and the view overlooking the back gardens, birds, monkeys, etc
Staff
Front desk and daily room cleaning were fantastic. Front desk attendant was very helpful to coordinate with our transportation services and taxi/ubers.
Cleanliness & Comfort
It’s a high humidity jungle so expect some insects to come in. Loved the rocking chairs on the porch! Made morning coffee even better! Also enjoyed seeing the various sized iguanas on campus sunning … grandpa, grandma and the kids visited most every day.
