Least stressful vacation planning EVER
Peru

We started planning very early & Jimena was amazing from the very start. She asked about our preferences and curated 2 starting off points. From there we were able to customize the exact activities we wanted. Jimena was incredibly supportive through it all, moving activities around & determining how much was possible each day. Once we got closer to our travel dates Jimena got on a call with us to answer any of our outstanding questions. During this call we asked about adding another activity & although it's a super uncommon option, she made it happen for us! We ended up with issues commuting to our destination & were delayed a full day. Jesus & Jimena were able to rework our itinerary so we didn't miss any of our planned activities even though we arrived a full 24 hours late!
While in Peru, we hit the ground running with Edwar (guide) & Wilmer (driver). Edwar was the PERFECT guide for us. He was honest and straight forward. He kept us on track without us ever feeling rushed, if things were running early or late we never noticed because he was taking care of everything in the shadows. He knew exactly when to call our driver back so the whole time in Cusco was effortless. Edwar even stayed with us all the way to the security check point for our domestic flight, to make sure we had no airport hiccups. I recommend KimKim 11/10 & plan to come back for any future travel like this.
Hotel Reviews
This room was massive with breathtaking views on 2 sides!
How special to have a full cabin in the rainforest?! Every need is considered & the staff does a fabulous job at making sure you are aware of everything - timing, requirements, options...
The staff here is exceptionally friendly. They have 24/7 drinkable water, on-tap in the lobby. The breakfast was delicious & fresh. The rooms were clean & provided things I didn't know I needed (like a towel to clean my hiking boots). They heard me mention I was cold so showed me how to work the room heater & showed me the extra blanket.
Activity Reviews
We headed directly to Lake Piuray from the airport. It wasn't our original plan so we weren't prepared. Everyone was so accommodating and adjusted to the unfortunate change of plans. In retrospect, kayaking in the mountain lake was the perfect first activity to re-center us. We were offered wetsuits and refreshments while they got our kayaks ready. While on the water our guide stayed close enough to answer all my questions and tell me about the history but let me go wherever I wanted, at my pace. We saw Chilean flamingos and jacanas.
Although the macaws weren't actively licking the clay while we were there our guide made the experience engaging for our group. We did see macaws, parrots, a capped heron, and other wildlife. We also ate breakfast near the claylick before heading back to our lodge. After most people took a nap we went to a nearby lake and saw a family of otters & some piranhas
We were so thankful to be able to experience harvesting pink salt with a family! Unforgettable
We had a sharing sampler style meal. EVERYTHING was delicious.
For me, this was for sure the most physically demanding climb we did. Absolutely worth it though and lots of room to take breaks.
We went shopping at 2 local markets, we picked the menu from a few options, they bought the ingredients and anything else we were interested in trying. Then we headed back to the restaurant to prepare it all! We had pisco sour, trout ceviche, quinoa crusted chicken tenders with mashed potatoes and fresh salted, for dessert we had a lot of fruits and some breads picked up at the market.
We learned so much from this family! This experience was unforgettable
I wasn't sure I wanted to visit Machu Picchu, I thought maybe it was over-hyped. I was wrong. This is an absolute don't skip activity.
The boat ride from the office to the lodge was long and cold. Once we arrived there was a short info meeting then we went to our cabins and met shortly after for a night walk. Javier found so many creatures we wouldn't have seen
We climb the tower to see above the canopy. It was a foggy morning so we didn't see much. But we had heard a holler monkey in our cabin while getting ready so Javier took us back behind our cabins to see if we could find it.
