This trip had to be post-poned in April 2020 to Oct 2022 due to pandemic. It was worth the wait. We enjoyed Fabio's walking tour of Montemarte, the Eiffel Tower at night, a personal tour of the Louvre (forgot the guide's name but she was very knowledgeable and allowed us to hit the highlights within 2 hours), a half-day trip to Versaille (Corinne is a great guide), and a splendid trip on train to Beaune (Burgundy) for a wine tour and 2 nights in that old, quaint, country town (Alexi from Safari Tours was a delight and very informative). We have many fond memories thanks to these fine folks.

Hotel Reviews
Mercure Paris Montmartre Sacré-Coeur
PARIS

Rooms are a nice size. Bathrooms include a separate water closet from the shower/sink area. The beds are comfortable. The windows open to a degree which is nice to let a breeze in or the city sounds. The breakfast is terrific, bountiful and tasty. The maid and restaurant staff are amazing and pleasant. Front desk workers were helpful too.

Abbaye De Maizieres
Beaune

WARNING: Before you fall in love with this historic building be warned that there is no way up except for stairs--and they are spiral and somewhat uneven in footing; and there are an additional steep stairway to the loft bedrooms . This old abbey is absolutely gorgeous and rich with history. You will see the proprietors did an amazing job with the conversion--keeping the structure intact and building the rooms/walls around it. There's a quaint courtyard to use for fresh air and a swimming pool. The rooms are clean and the bathroom is modern. The breakfast is delightful and the people are terrific. Aimee at the front desk it superb and was very helpful even when I could not get into my suitacase. I recommend if you are not intimidated by the stairs (think about this because you will want to partake in the wine).

Authenticity & Character
10 stars if I could -- nothing else like it
Location

Hôtel Jardin de Cluny
Paris

What a cute place with friendly staff, a nice breakfast in a good location. This hotel was recently remodelled and was very nice with a lot of garden-like character. Some of the photos on the website got me scared that it would be too floral but it was tastefully done and the -2 floor where they serve breakfast is very cool--smeared old stone with modern decor. The location is close to a lot on the left bank.

Authenticity & Character
For a city hotel the rooms are spacious and unique
Location
Less than a block from St. Germaine. Walking distance to Notre Dome, Pantheon, shops and restaurants.
Staff
Nice, friendly staff, especially in the restaurant
Cleanliness & Comfort
Top notch! We felt very comfortable.

Bonjour Jodi,
Thank you so much for your kind feedback!
I was a pleasure for Stephen and me to organize your trip to Paris & Burgundy. A real mix of our capital treasures and the lovely countryside.
See you very soon in France or in Europe,
Valentine
