Our trip to South Korea with Kimkim was truly the trip of a lifetime—honestly, it exceeded even our highest expectations. We were already passionate about South Korea, its culture, history, food, and of course BTS, so we came with a long “must-see” list. We shared those dreams with Kimkim, and somehow they turned every one of them into reality—and then added so much more.

From the very beginning in Seoul, Kimkim hit the nail on the head. As BTS fans, visiting places significant to their journey to stardom was incredibly meaningful, and Kimkim thoughtfully wove those experiences into our itinerary. But beyond that, they immersed us in Korean culture in the most unforgettable ways. Wearing traditional hanboks while exploring Gyeongbokgung Palace felt like stepping into history. Walking through Bukchon Hanok Village was magical, and visiting N Seoul Tower gave us breathtaking views of Seoul we will never forget.

And then there was Wookie—our guide in Seoul, Andong, and Busan—who was simply exceptional. Wookie was not just a guide; he felt like a friend we were lucky enough to travel with. He listened when we told him one of our biggest wishes was simple: “Take us where you like to eat.” And wow, did he deliver. Our food experiences were beyond anything we imagined—from Korean fried chicken, Andong’s famous jjimdak, and incredible seaweed soup in Busan, to even stopping at a roadside rest area where we had one of the most memorable lunches and tasted warm hodugwaja donuts (still dreaming about those!). Through food alone, Wookie gave us a deeper connection to Korea.

Our journey to Andong was full of surprises and authentic moments. Wandering through the traditional market, interacting with the kind and welcoming shopkeepers, and experiencing the cultural village with its mask performance during cherry blossom season felt like walking through another era. It was one of those places that leaves a permanent mark on your heart.

Then came Busan, and once again Wookie made us feel less like tourists and more like locals. Riding the Busan Sky Capsule was unforgettable and something we highly recommend. From exploring the BIFF district and fish markets to wandering through one of the world’s largest department stores, every day felt alive with discovery.

Just when we thought the trip couldn’t get any better, we arrived in Jeju Island and met Clover—another extraordinary guide who gave us an entirely different, but equally incredible, side of Korea. Clover was warm, knowledgeable, adventurous, and so much fun to spend time with. She made Jeju feel magical.

With Clover, we visited a BTS-themed café, explored the fascinating Jeju Haenyeo Museum, and climbed Seongsan Ilchulbong where we were lucky enough to witness the legendary women divers in action—absolutely breathtaking. She introduced us to foods we never would have discovered on our own, including eun-galchi (silver hairtail fish), which I still crave, and the black pork BBQ experience… honestly, we nearly cried over how delicious it was.

Another unforgettable day was visiting Jeongbang Falls with Clover. For adventurous travelers, this is a must. Sitting by the water eating fresh-caught abalone and conch was one of those spontaneous travel moments you remember forever. We also marveled at the dramatic beauty of Daepo Jusangjeolli Cliff and its stunning hexagonal rock formations.

And I would be remiss not to mention the hotels Kimkim selected, which elevated the trip even further. The Westin Josun Seoul, Signiel Busan, and Grand Hyatt Jeju all had the most welcoming, gracious staff. Everywhere we stayed, we felt less like guests at a hotel and more like we were being welcomed into someone’s home.

What made this trip so special wasn’t just the destinations—it was how personal and thoughtfully curated every moment felt. Kimkim didn’t just plan a vacation; they created an experience full of heart, culture, adventure, and memories we will treasure forever.

And Wookie and Clover… they made this journey extraordinary. Their warmth, humor, knowledge, and genuine care transformed this from a tour into something deeply personal and unforgettable.

We can say without hesitation: Kimkim gave us the trip of a lifetime. South Korea stole our hearts all over again, and thanks to Kimkim, we are already dreaming of coming back. If there is ever a reason to return for another adventure (and we hope there is!), we would book with Kimkim again in a heartbeat.

Our stay at Grand Hyatt Jeju was nothing short of spectacular. From the moment we arrived, we were immersed in comfort, luxury, and hospitality that far exceeded expectations. This hotel is truly a destination in itself. The rooms are absolutely stunning—among the largest and most comfortable we have ever stayed in. Spacious, elegant, beautifully designed, and incredibly relaxing, the room felt more like a luxury retreat than a hotel stay. After full days of exploring Jeju, it was a joy to return to such a serene and comfortable space. Every detail felt elevated. The dining at this hotel deserves the highest praise. Every restaurant we experienced was outstanding, with food that was memorable from start to finish. And the breakfast buffet—simply incredible. The variety was remarkable and everything was beautifully prepared. From bulgogi and dumplings to fresh salads, fruit, pastries, and countless other choices, each morning felt indulgent. We were completely spoiled and looked forward to breakfast every day. Another wonderful surprise was the shopping all on site, which made the experience feel even more complete. Having dining, luxury accommodations, and excellent shopping all in one place made the hotel feel like its own vibrant world. What truly elevated our stay, though, was the staff. Everyone was warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind, creating an atmosphere that felt both luxurious and personal. A special thank you to Jun, whose friendliness and wonderful conversations made our stay even more meaningful. It is rare to meet someone in a hotel who leaves such a lasting impression, and we will certainly miss our chats with him. Grand Hyatt Jeju offers everything you could want—beautiful oversized rooms, exceptional dining, incredible amenities, shopping, and heartfelt hospitality. It combines grandeur with warmth in a way that is hard to find. This was far more than a hotel stay—it was an unforgettable experience. We would return without hesitation and already miss it. If you are visiting Jeju and want true luxury paired with genuine hospitality, this is an absolute must-stay. Five stars are simply not enough.

Our stay at Signiel Busan was absolutely exceptional and easily one of the highlights of our trip. From the moment we arrived, everything about this hotel felt elevated, thoughtful, and unforgettable. First, the location could not have been any better. Just a short walk to Haeundae Beach, it was the perfect base for enjoying Busan. And the views—absolutely breathtaking. Our room had a balcony (yes, a balcony!) overlooking the ocean, and waking up to that view each morning felt surreal. Sitting outside with the sea breeze and hearing the waves was pure magic. The room itself was stunning—beautifully designed, spotless, and incredibly comfortable. Every detail felt luxurious yet welcoming. The bed was heavenly, the space was serene, and honestly… we did not want to leave. What truly made the stay special, though, was the staff. The service was impeccable but also so warm and personal. Having tea brought to our room was such a thoughtful touch and made us feel genuinely cared for. It is rare to find a luxury hotel that feels this polished while also feeling so personal. And the breakfast buffet—simply outstanding. Every morning felt like a feast. The spread was beautifully laid out and absolutely delicious. Freshly made eggs, dumplings, soup, fresh fruit, pastries… we were completely spoiled. It was one of the best hotel breakfasts we have ever had. Everything about Signiel Busan speaks to excellence: the unbeatable location, breathtaking ocean views, luxurious rooms, extraordinary staff, and incredible dining. This is not just a hotel stay—it is an experience. If you are visiting Busan and want a stay that is elegant, memorable, and deeply relaxing, this is an absolute must. We would return in a heartbeat. Our stay at Rakkojae Hahoe Hanok was one of the most unique and memorable parts of our trip to South Korea. If you want to immerse yourself in Korean history and experience something truly special, this is a place you should not miss. The beauty of the surrounding area is breathtaking. Set near the historic Hahoe Folk Village, the scenery feels timeless—peaceful, cultural, and almost like stepping into another era. Waking up surrounded by nature and traditional architecture was an experience in itself. Sleeping in a traditional hanok was something we had looked forward to, and it exceeded expectations. The heated floors (ondol) made the room incredibly cozy and added to the authenticity of the experience. There was something so peaceful about staying in a traditional Korean home while still enjoying modern comfort. Our room was wonderfully spacious—three of us stayed in one room and never felt crowded. There was plenty of room to move around, the bathroom was large and beautifully appointed, and the amenities were fantastic. Every detail felt thoughtful and elevated, balancing tradition with comfort in a way that made the stay feel both authentic and luxurious. What makes this property so special is that it is not just a hotel stay, it feels like a cultural experience. The only small note for us was the dining experience. While beautifully presented and refined, it leaned a bit too bougie for our taste. We had hoped for a more traditional, rustic Korean meal that matched the authenticity of the hanok setting. It was still well done, just not quite what we expected. That said, this did not take away from how remarkable this property is. Rakkojae Hahoe Hanok is truly one of a kind—a rare chance to experience Korean heritage in such a beautiful and comfortable setting. For travelers looking for something meaningful, memorable, and unlike a standard hotel stay, this place is unforgettable.

Our stay at The Westin Josun Seoul was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we arrived, we knew this was going to be a special place, but by the time we left, it felt like leaving friends behind. Our hearts already miss the wonderful people there. First, the location simply cannot be beat. The hotel is just steps from Myeong-dong, which made it the perfect home base for exploring Seoul. Incredible food, endless shopping, vibrant nightlife—it was all right outside the door. Whether heading out for street food, late-night wandering, or sightseeing, we could not have asked for a better location. The hotel itself is elegant, immaculate, and incredibly comfortable. Our room was beautiful, peaceful, and luxurious, with every detail thoughtfully curated. After long days exploring, it felt like returning to a sanctuary. But what truly sets this hotel apart is the people. The staff made this stay unforgettable. William, the back doorman, was such a warm and welcoming presence and made us feel cared for from day one. The concierge staff were equally amazing—knowledgeable, kind, and genuinely invested in making our experience special. We truly felt like friends, not visitors, and that level of hospitality is rare and deeply meaningful. The breakfast buffet deserves its own standing ovation. It was absolutely out of this world—one of the best hotel breakfasts we have ever experienced. The quality, variety, and service were exceptional. Highlights for us were the dumplings, salmon, and kimchi, all absolutely delicious. Every morning felt like a culinary event. What makes this hotel so remarkable is that it combines luxury with heart. It offers world-class accommodations, an unbeatable location, and service that makes you feel at home in another country. This is not just a great hotel—it is a must-stay when visiting Seoul. We would return in a heartbeat, and honestly cannot imagine staying anywhere else. Joe guided me through Jeonju and Gyeongju and had a wealth of information about history and many facets of the areas we traveled in, he was a very friendly and trustworthy and professional guide. Ryan Lee guided me through Busan and showed me many areas of that great city, providing information only someone from the area would know; he was also friendly, professional and trustworthy. The drivers, Mr. Yoon, Mr. Shin and Mr. Kang were also excellent and professional and friendly. It was a pleasure working with Christine Liu in planning our first-ever trip to South Korea. She listened to our interests and budget in planning our 12 days visiting Seoul, Busan, and Jeju Island. Her prompt and thoughtful responses to the numerous and myriad questions we had over the few months of planning were greatly appreciated. She was ever patient with two women who peppered her with questions and requests!

Similarly our private guides in Seoul (Billy), Busan (Fred), and on Jeju (Yuna) were excellent. Of course we expected them to be knowledgeable, experienced guides as a baseline. But ALL THREE demonstrated keen interest in ensuring we enjoyed ourselves, anticipated our interests and accommodated us without disappointment. E.g. searching for the best salt bread, guiding us through markets with a "local" feel, helping us rent our hanbok, taking plenty of photos, making thoughtful suggestions on how to maximize our experiences, and more. Also a shout-out to our medical concierge (James) and translator (Clara) who were indispensable in arranging our day of K-beauty treatments. With only one-day, James helped select a very excellent medical clinic for non-invasive facial treatments and scalp treatments. BTW, all highly effective and enjoyable.

I have already recommended KimKim to friends who are interested in engaging travel planning and I will not hesitate to utilize KimKim again as well. As a retiree in my early 70's, it is comforting to know I have a trusted travel company that can help ensure a smooth, safe, and enjoyable trip when venturing into new countries - especially when a potential challenge with a foreign language is a factor.

Our private guide, Hera Kim, picked us up on our first day and we were off and running. Gyeongbokgung Palace and hanbok rental was our first adventure and she guided us through and explained the history behind it all. Everything we did and everywhere we went, she gave us detailed information and descriptions. I felt super comfortable with her and we became good friends! Also, our private cooking class with Yum2Lab, Esda, was incredible. We were lucky enough to be in the class by ourselves so she gave us her undivided attention and we learned so much. The meal we prepared was delicious and she explained everything and was so sweet and friendly.

If we ever return to Seoul, we will definitely go through kimkim again and request the services of Hera. She was absolutely incredible! She took all the pictures we could have asked for without having to ask! Our day at the DMZ was amazing. Although fast paced and busy, we could not have navigated that without her. We learned so much from her and hope anyone who visits Seoul can have someone like her to guide them through. It's always a challenge traveling to a foreign place but she made us feel right at home and like a great friend!

Esda was incredible. We took taxi and he was a little hard to communicate with and had trouble finding the place but we eventually made it.

It was a bit confusing trying to get to the location. We were not aware that we had to arrange our travel on our own. The hotel called the taxi for us but the driver had some trouble locating the address. Thankfully, our cooking instructor was waiting for us and even called to make sure we were coming.

I had two terrific young women as guides in Korea. Joey in Seoul and Gina in Busan were both friendly and very knowledgeable about their cities. Each was willing to make on the spot modifications to my itinerary to meet requests I made (for example, I suddenly decided I wanted to ride the metro in Seoul). Each helped me find special items my friends asked me to bring them from my trip and located restaurants that had the type of food I was in the mood for at a given moment. Each was excellent... We loved our experience with KimKim in Korea and really enjoyed our guides in both Seoul (Jones) and Busan (Luke). They were extremely knowledgeable and took their jobs very seriously. They were also extremely pleasant. Everything worked out really well and they did a wonderful job of maximising the number of experiences without sacrificing on quality of the time. Christine was great to work with and did a nice job of figuring out all of the logistics for us.

We liked this hotel a lot. It was clean and had good laundry facilities in the basement which we could freely use. The buffet was nice and the location was good.

The location is great, close to shopping, restaurants, and Dondaemun Plaza where we could watch the fireworks on NY Eve. The staff at the hotel are very friendly and helpful and offer free amenities like hand warmers in the lobby, which was nice. The hotel itself was just ok. Our room wasn't so clean; I found a hair in my bed and the sheets looked dirty too. There was no laundry facility available and it was very difficult to catch a taxi in front of the hotel.

The most luxurious hotel we have stayed at... Our room was huge, with an amazing view of the city of Incheon from our room on the 52nd floor. We were so pleased it had a small kitchen and washer and dryer in our units so that it felt like home, along with extra amenities like a TV in the master bathtub. The hotel itself is beautifully decorated inside and out and the breakfast buffet was top notch. It is right next to the convention center that has lots of restaurants and shopping. We will definitely stay here again when we come back!

We also did a DMZ tour, took a train to Busan, where we did another fantastic city highlights tour, and a day trip from there to Gyeongju to see the Bulguksa Temple and explore the history of the Shilla dynasty. Our guides in Seoul and Busan/Gyeongju were incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and led us to amazing food! All our train rides and transportation were perfectly on time and smooth. Christine, our agent, even surprised us by sending a birthday gift to my child at the hotel. She was the best travel agent and it was the best trip!

Our apartment-style suite was stylish, spacious, clean, and had an amazing view and our own laundry. But it lacked a front desk, a dedicated hotel restaurant, and daily housekeeping services. The self check-in was a little bit confusing because there were multiple entrances to the two towers. Any questions/issues during our stay were very quickly answered via WhatsApp, but if you prefer a place with standard hotel service and a breakfast buffet, this may not be the best choice.

I’m so glad we took this day trip from Busan. Gyeongju was such a different experience from the big cities of Seoul and Busan. It had more of a village feel with traditional architecture. The Bulguksa Temple was incredible. We enjoyed the museum on Shilla history. And our very knowledgeable guide and driver, Mimi, led us to an incredible local soon tofu restaurant.

We very thoughtfully filled out all of the requested intake forms and what we got back was a far cry from what we clearly requested. It took far too many back and forth communications, two phone calls (Zoom would have been much more productive, but we were told it wasn’t available) and even a call with Kimkim’s management. Even after all of the communication, there were several missed details:

1. The trip was scheduled for the wrong year. After paying the deposit, we noticed that the date had somehow been changed to 2026! This was after many of the conversations mentioned above where we were very clear about our anticipated dates. We even went back to review email communications to see if somehow we had made a mistake and we had been clear about dates on our end.

2. They couldn’t manage to book the hotels we requested. We were told they didn’t have relationships with them and when they finally agreed to get pricing on them, the prices were much higher than we could get on Amex, so we ended up booking the hotels on our own.

3. Inaccuracies and missed details in our daily itinerary coupled with a very difficult to navigate itinerary format. Additionally there were a number of activities listed in our itinerary that were simply closed on the days we were scheduled. And these were not spontaneous closures. It was more like being scheduled to go to a museum on a certain day when that museum is always closed on that day. Simple research on the part of the planner would have revealed some of these issues.

4. They failed to book seats for one leg of our intra-country fight, which resulted in our having to sit at the very back of a large plane and not together. We only realized this when we went to check in for our flight. When asked about it, Jessica failed to take accountability for this oversight. Had we not realized the mistake upon checking into the flight, we may have been left without seats on a packed flight.

5. Guides- We had spotty guide experiences- having three guides in our three different locations. Our first guide was fine. Our second guide was poor. Our third guide was excellent. We had a variety of issues from significant language barriers, poor itinerary organization, lack of knowledge on basic site information, and mediocre guide-chosen food.

Best guide of our trip. Clover was engaging, knowledgeable and so thoughtful in her planning and execution. We loved our day with her in Jeju. The driver, however, was awful. His NYC taxi driver style on the pedal was horrific including harsh accelerating and braking. He either went far below the speed limit or drove like a race car driver on twisty backroads.

We interacted first with Jones with whom we spent 11 days from Seoul to Gwangju. Jones is very reliable and has a very good knowledge about his country. If he does not know the response to a question, he will make sure to look for it. He advised us about good places to eat. We definitely recommend him especially for several days like we did with Jones.

She failed to consider that our arrival at the hotel was going to be before check in time and did not suggest alternatives such as the option of paying for an early check in. She offered us one option for hotel— the L7 in Myeongdong. It was a nice hotel, well run, clean, with an excellent breakfast. However, for people our age, staying in Myeongdong got tiresome after a couple of nights. It would have been helpful to have been warned about the noise and crowds and offered a possible alternative.

We were directed to excellent activities and connected with an outstanding guide, Christine Lee and her husband Young. Christine was knowledgeable, warm and friendly. We got an excellent picture of Korean history talking with her and she showed us around Nami island and the garden of morning calm as an expert. These two experiences were outstanding!

It’s a well run hotel, very clean, and the breakfast is excellent. Myeongdong is a central location with easy access to subway, the byeongbokgung palace. Myeongdong is where one of the major night markets with street food is located. However, it is harder to find quieter restaurants or easy places to walk around without crowds.

Jessica created a wonderful tour for us in Korea. We were met at the airport and guided throughout our stay which made this so very easy and not the least bit stressful. This was our first time having a private tour and I highly recommend it. One guide we had, Michael was especially impressive. He took us to visit historical sights, villages and the must see street food markets in Seoul. Jessica created a wonderful tour for us in Korea. We were met at the airport and guided throughout our stay which made this so very easy and not the least bit stressful. This was our first time having a private tour and I highly recommend it. One guide we had, Michael was especially impressive. He took us to visit historical sights, villages and the must see street food markets in Seoul. Jessica arranged our transportation on the high speed train to Busan for a few nights and that was amazing as well. I would not hesitate to use Kimkim travel in the future, they truly make touring a seamless experience, well worth the cost!

This has been an overall very positive experience. Christine was very helpful. The interaction was great and she always was able to adjust & finetune our wishes. We changed the itinerary a few times, but she always stayed friendly & professional. Even when we made a mistake, they were able to correct it last minjte.
In the excursions, the cooking class in Seoul was a great experience. In Jeju, the driver & guid Mr. Jimmi Koh has been truly wonderful, friendly & knowledgeable. Thank You... Read more
