How did you get involved in travel?

"I studied Tourism English in college. After graduation, I worked as a tour guide for over ten years. Then, I was qualified to work in our overseas offices, so I got lots of opportunities to travel around, mainly in Asian countries."

Please share a unique travel experience you will never forget.

"My most memorable travel experience was the hiking trip in the minority regions in North Vietnam. My friend and I had been hiking for about four hours in the deep mountains that were really off-the-beaten-path. That area was so beautiful and tranquil. We breathed the crisp air and immersed ourselves in the gorgeous views. Then, we got lost. We went around and around the mountain but always got back to the same place. Suddenly, we spotted a local farmer with his cow!! He walked with us for more than an hour just to point out the right direction for us. His kindness, friendliness, hospitality, and his bright smile deeply impressed us and made our trip so memorable!!!

We just returned from our two week trip to Korea and had an amazing time! We traveled as a group of seven, including three teenagers and my 81 yr old mom. All the hotels we stayed in were comfortable and well located and all our drivers were experienced and knowledgeable and kind. Jessica was great to work with from day one when we started planning the trip and was always quick to respond to any changes to our itinerary or issues that arise during our trip. Our trip was tricky because we had to make everyone happy, and she listened to my concerns and accommodated everyone's requests. The most luxurious hotel we have stayed at... Our room was huge, with an amazing view of the city of Incheon from our room on the 52nd floor. We were so pleased it had a small kitchen and washer and dryer in our units so that it felt like home, along with extra amenities like a TV in the master bathtub. The hotel itself is beautifully decorated inside and out and the breakfast buffet was top notch. It is right next to the convention center that has lots of restaurants and shopping. We will definitely stay here again when we come back!

The location is great, close to shopping, restaurants, and Dondaemun Plaza where we could watch the fireworks on NY Eve. The staff at the hotel are very friendly and helpful and offer free amenities like hand warmers in the lobby, which was nice. The hotel itself was just ok. Our room wasn't so clean; I found a hair in my bed and the sheets looked dirty too. There was no laundry facility available and it was very difficult to catch a taxi in front of the hotel.

The planning almost could not have been worse….

We have traveled to over 30 countries with a variety of different planning services and this was among if not the worst. The planning almost could not have been worse. We very thoughtfully filled out all of the requested intake forms and what we got back was a far cry from what we clearly requested. It took far too many back and forth communications, two phone calls (Zoom would have been much more productive, but we were told it wasn’t available) and even a call with Kimkim’s management. ... We have traveled to over 30 countries with a variety of different planning services and this was among if not the worst. The planning almost could not have been worse. We very thoughtfully filled out all of the requested intake forms and what we got back was a far cry from what we clearly requested. It took far too many back and forth communications, two phone calls (Zoom would have been much more productive, but we were told it wasn’t available) and even a call with Kimkim’s management. Even after all of the communication, there were several missed details:

1. The trip was scheduled for the wrong year. After paying the deposit, we noticed that the date had somehow been changed to 2026! This was after many of the conversations mentioned above where we were very clear about our anticipated dates. We even went back to review email communications to see if somehow we had made a mistake and we had been clear about dates on our end.

2. They couldn’t manage to book the hotels we requested. We were told they didn’t have relationships with them and when they finally agreed to get pricing on them, the prices were much higher than we could get on Amex, so we ended up booking the hotels on our own.

3. Inaccuracies and missed details in our daily itinerary coupled with a very difficult to navigate itinerary format. Additionally there were a number of activities listed in our itinerary that were simply closed on the days we were scheduled. And these were not spontaneous closures. It was more like being scheduled to go to a museum on a certain day when that museum is always closed on that day. Simple research on the part of the planner would have revealed some of these issues.

4. They failed to book seats for one leg of our intra-country fight, which resulted in our having to sit at the very back of a large plane and not together. We only realized this when we went to check in for our flight. When asked about it, Jessica failed to take accountability for this oversight. Had we not realized the mistake upon checking into the flight, we may have been left without seats on a packed flight.

5. Guides- We had spotty guide experiences- having three guides in our three different locations. Our first guide was fine. Our second guide was poor. Our third guide was excellent. We had a variety of issues from significant language barriers, poor itinerary organization, lack of knowledge on basic site information, and mediocre guide-chosen food.

Best guide of our trip. Clover was engaging, knowledgeable and so thoughtful in her planning and execution. We loved our day with her in Jeju. The driver, however, was awful. His NYC taxi driver style on the pedal was horrific including harsh accelerating and braking. He either went far below the speed limit or drove like a race car driver on twisty backroads.

Our trip was amazing and everything went according to plan.
We interacted first with Jones with whom we spent 11 days from Seoul to Gwangju. Jones is very reliable and has a very good knowledge about his country. If he does not know the response to a question, he will make sure to look for it. He advised us about good places to eat. We definitely recommend him especially for several days like we did with Jones.
Luke in Busan was very nice and very open about the culture of Busan.... Read more

The room , we had would not suit everyone as it was very very small with the bed in a mezzanine with a difficult staircase. Not a problem for us though but just mentioning . This was our first time having a private tour and I highly recommend it. One guide we had, Michael was especially impressive. He took us to visit historical sights, villages and the must see street food markets in Seoul. Jessica was very accommodating and helpful in setting up our visit, our itinerary, and adapting to changes that we threw her way. We had a wonderful experience on our first vacation in South Korea. There were no logistical problems with any of the hotels, transportation or guides. Everything went very smoothly. There were no logistical problems with any of the hotels, transportation or guides. Everything went very smoothly. This was our first time planning a vacation this way and we really enjoyed not having to worry about logistics.

Our tour guides were excellent in so many ways. I loved that they had a back-up plan whenever the weather changed. They were flexible but made sure that we visited all the places on our itinerary. I enjoyed many of the tours and appreciated their expertise on the history and culture at each attraction/location. They are very well informed and provided great summaries for us. They even offered to take photos of our group and did an exceptional job at taking memorable group photos at each site. Lastly, I appreciated all of their food and shopping recommendations for us to try during our "free" days. This hotel was in a great location and close to many shopping and food places that were all walking distance. The breakfast was delicious, and the staff was courteous and friendly.

The room layout was cramped and did not allow for us to relax and stretch out. The bath towels were not soft, and it was hard stepping in and out of the bathtub when taking showers. Some of the USB outlets for our phones in our room did not work.

I can see why this hotel is rated 5-stars. It is a beautiful hotel with friendly staff. Our room was spacious and I felt very welcomed. I wished I stayed longer than one night.

We had a nice view of Lotte World amusement park from our room. Breakfast menu offered Korean food which mixed well with the other breakfast items.

The hotel location was good for our tours in Gyeongju before heading out to Busan.

The breakfast staff was very friendly and helpful during breakfast. They kindly brought my coffee to my table.

The hotel is very polished and our room was very comfortable with great amenities.

We did a Seoul City tour with Lisa Choi! We learned a tremendous amount of Korea history which helped the rest of the trip. Then we toured Suwon with Sophia. This was a great chance to get out of Seoul and see more. Our trip to the night markets was fun and delicious with Yoon. Thanks so much Jessica! Jessica did a great job organizing activities for the entire family; we are a diverse group with varied interests. All of our guides were lovely and flexible, and helped us pivot when the weather wasn't cooperating or we needed some time to be more still. I would especially recommend Mr. William Jang. He is knowledgeable and kind - it was a real cultural exchange, which is what travel is all about.

We will return to South Korea.
