Guðmundur Óli Pálmason
Born in Reykjavík, Iceland, and from a young age I was already travelling all over Iceland with my parents.
After a short stint as a driver guide on modified SUVs in 2004, I came back to it full time in 2015 and have been working as one since then.
In 2020, I co-founded Location Scouting Iceland, a company that specializes in finding locations and providing location services for all kinds of productions.
I have been working as a travel planner and a travel specialist since January 2022.
What places and activities do you specialize in?
"For the last decade or so I have made it a point to explore locations off the beaten path. This includes but is not limited to the north-west and the east of Iceland (the so-called Westfjörds and Eastfjörds) as well as the central highlands. "
How did you get involved in travel?
""I started travelling with my parents around Iceland at an early age and I guess that's where I picked up the travelling bug. In my early 20s I started travelling around Iceland on my own and with friends. My biggest interest was always finding out what was at the end of the unmarked gravel road. What unexplored treasures would I find that weren't on the map?
In 2004 I worked for one summer as a driver guide on a modified Land Rover Defender for the first time. That's when I started to gain experience in off-road driving on glaciers and mountains. I came back to that job in early 2015 and have been working as a driver guide full time ever since. ""
Please share a unique travel experience you will never forget.
""Travelling around the vast Icelandic highlands, the biggest untouched wilderness in Europe, under the midnight sun is something I'd list as my absolutely favorite pastime, with clients or alone.""

I'm very happy to read your trip was such a great success.
Yes the hot water in Reykjavik (and most places around the island) does indeed have a bit of a sulfur taste to it, but let the cold water run for a minute and you have crystal clear, ice cold glacial water, filtered through lava stone, with no sulfur taste at all. A good thing to know upon your return, which we need to start planning btw haha.
Take care and come back soon!

Constructive advice: If self touring(driving), encourage your traveler to rent a 4 wheel drive. Increases the ability to drive on all roads safely and also explore other options not included in the travel itinerary.
Also, write the final itinerary in order:
1-Date
2-Day of travel
3-Google link
4-Step by step instructions for the day and description of sights... Read more

I do agree that the App could be approved and things put in the right order.
That's why I always recommend that travelers access the trip plan from a web browser, because if you scroll down, you find things in the right order.
I will pass this info along to the tech support. In their defense, I know they are still working on the app.
I'm very happy to read, though, that your trip was a great success and that you had a good time in Iceland and I do hope you'll visit us soon again.

Gummy did a great job organizing our nine day trip around Iceland. As older couples, we didn’t want to spend a long time on the road and he definitely met that. We saw all the amazing highlights and had time to add a few extras on our own. The hotels were first right! The food recommendations were very good! Again, we did find a few amazing ones on our own. Gummy took the lion share of the planning and making of the reservations, which made our trip that much more enjoyable
Thank you for the kind review Melissa. I'm very glad to read how happy you are with the trip and I do hope we'll see you in Iceland soon again 😊

We had a fantastic trip! Gummi made sure we saw a good amount of site seeing and made sure to keep activities doable as I traveled 24 weeks pregnant and with our 3 yr old. Our accommodations were very comfortable. We enjoyed seeing the natural beauty Iceland had to offer. We loved our underground cave tour and the trip to the blue lagoon. We can't wait to travel again! Kimkim took the stress out of planning, especially since we weren't too familiar with the country.
Thank you for the kind review Kellie
I am so happy to read that everything went well. Traveling with a young child while pregnant can be challenging, but that's (one of) the reasons you have Kimkim, we're here to make sure everything runs smoothly, taking the stress of planning of your shoulders and being a helping hand you can reach out to while traveling.
I do hope we'll see you in Iceland again soon, along with the newest member of the family, who technically has been to Iceland, but didn't get to see the views haha!
All the best!
