Yuqqa Macdalena

Hi there! My name is Yuqqa, and I'm Indonesian. I grew up in a multicultural family with Christian Batak/North Sumatran and Muslim East Javanese heritage. From a young age, I was exposed to a wide range of cultural values and perspectives, which helped me develop a deep appreciation for diversity.

During my two-year stay in Mainz, Germany, where I went to study the German language, I had the opportunity to broaden my horizons and explore new cultures. Upon returning to Indonesia, I settled in Jakarta, the capital city, where I worked and lived my everyday life. Bali has always been a place of refuge for me, where I can take a break from the monotony of my daily routine as a city dweller. However, little did I know that Bali would one day become my permanent home.

I am proud of the cultural and natural diversity of Indonesia. I am excited to explore more destinations and share them with you!

What places and activities do you specialize in?

"During my visit to Lembata Island in 2020, which is located further east from Bali in the Nusa Tenggara Timur Province, I had the opportunity to witness a traditional barter market at Wulandoni market. The market was unique in that traders from different villages, including those from mountain villages with farmers, bartered their crops with the fresh-fish catch by fishermen from coastal villages such as Lamalera village. The traders spoke their own distinct languages and did not communicate with each other in the same language. I found it fascinating that in an era where payments are made with a simple click, the ancient barter system still exists and operates without a common language. This experience humbled me and sparked my curiosity to explore other destinations not only in Indonesia but also in other parts of the world."

How did you get involved in travel?

"I specialize in ecotourism and love outdoor activities such as trekking, rafting, and rock climbing. I also enjoy visiting remote islands and discovering off-the-beaten-path destinations. If these types of travel adventures appeal to you, I would be delighted to collaborate with you in creating a unique travel itinerary."

Please share a unique travel experience you will never forget.

"During my study, I traveled the most to hike volcanic mountains. I was also involved in various voluntary events in underdeveloped villages. I created several fundraising events where I got the opportunity to visit some schools on the remote islands. These experiences showed me how little I know about life without an internet connection or electrical access, other than the comfortable life I enjoy on Java island. That being said, it is very natural for me—not merely to work but “to be” in the travel industry. "
