France in April: Travel Tips, Weather & More
April is a fabulous month to visit France. The weather is delightfully sunny and warm in the south and mild elsewhere, the flowers are in bloom, and the shoulder-season prices still offer a bargain. Now is a great time to get yourself to the Loire Valley to discover the ornate châteaux strewn throughout the region. Find out what more there is to do and where else to go with this April guide.
Best Time of Year to Visit France
France offers year-round appeal, whether you're craving sun and sea, powdery snow, or a peaceful, crowd-free escape. The winter months (December to February) are ideal for a ski holiday and cultural exploration, while the summer (June to August) is the busiest and priciest time of year due in part to the great weather. However, the best time to visit France is in the spring (April to May) or fall (September to November), when the weather is warm, and the crowds are manageable.
How Many Days to Spend in France
For a solid France itinerary that covers two regions plus Paris, a 10-day trip is a great choice. With less time, a well-rounded trip is still within reach, especially if you're willing to forego time in Paris to see more of the country. And, of course, the lucky travelers with two weeks or more will have no shortage of things to see and do. Check out some possible itineraries from 5 to 14 days below.

- Hotels - All three hotels had great service.
- The Winery Hotel and Tour didn't suit us. It seemed too early in their season for guests. If we had kids or grandkids it would have been spot on. We know it was a family-friendly venue. It seemed they were still in their "training phrase" with staff, and... Read more
