If you only have five days in Portugal, you can pair two major cities—Lisbon and Porto, for example—or choose one region for an in-depth experience. Explore the dreamy Algarve coast, head to the wine-famous Duoro Valley, or stick to Lisbon and its surrounds. The itineraries below offer unique options that appeal to all kinds of travelers, from Portugal first-timers to foodies and wine enthusiasts to sun worshipers.

Other options include a trip split between Lisbon and Lagos and a history-filled journey in northern Portugal.

10 Days in Portugal - 6 Unique Itinerary Ideas

2 Weeks in Portugal - 5 Unique Itinerary Ideas
Two weeks in Portugal gives you ample time to enjoy the highlights at a relaxed pace. Spend time in both Lisbon and Porto — complete with private guided tours and gorgeous day trips — while also adding time further afield, on the beaches of the Algarve or on an island like São Miguel in the Azores. Take a road trip, explore the Douro Valley, or tour the broader Iberian Peninsula by combining Portugal with neighboring Spain in one vacation. Read on for more unique itineraries.

How Many Days to Spend in Portugal
Portugal's compact size means you can pack a lot into a short trip—a few days allows for exploration of Lisbon and Porto, along with a few excursions beyond city limits. With a week, enjoy a more comprehensive route, detouring to the coast and countryside. Those with two weeks can plan a full north-to-south trip and maybe even tack on a visit to Portugal's lesser-explored islands or neighboring Spain.

Best Time of Year to Visit Portugal
While Portugal is known for its year-round pleasant weather, it still experiences some variations in temperature from season to season. The country's golden beaches and urban attractions draw crowds in the summer months (June to August), making the spring (March to May) and fall (September to November) shoulder seasons an excellent time to travel. Below, you'll find valuable tips to help you plan your trip.

Pedro did an excellent job setting up, coordinating and communicating details about our Portugal Trip.
The airport transportation, the various tours and the transportation to/from the various locations we visited were all executed flawlessly. In addition the restaurant and activity suggestions were very helpful.
The tour guides (Claudia, Ricardo & Catarina) and main drivers (Carlos & Ricardo) that Pedro hired all did a fantastic job.
Diana and her team were terrific.

Bruno who took us on the wine tour was fantastic. He could have slowed down his driving a bit. But other then that he was the best.

Hi Bryan!
Thank you so much for your kind words. I´m thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your wine tour with Bruno. He truly takes pride in sharing his knowledge and passion for the region, so it’s wonderful to know that it made your experience special.
