Morocco Immersion Tours and Adventures

Morocco Immersion Tours & Adventures is a family . . . literally. As direct descendants of the first dynasty of Morocco, our family history is entwined with that of Morocco. We founded Morocco Immersion because of our love of our Berber culture and our desire to share it with the world. With over 20 years of experience in the Moroccan tour industry, we provide safe and affordable adventures that allow you to immerse yourself in the beauty and magic of the REAL Morocco. When you travel with us, you aren’t a “tourist.” You are an honored guest of the family. And that is the BEST way to experience Morocco.

Our Philosophy

We have built our company on three basic principles:
1. Know our guests and be flexible. Unlike many tour operators in Morocco, our drivers are part of our team. That means that before you arrive in Morocco, your driver will have details about your interests and itinerary. Once you arrive, we are flexible with your itinerary. If you love a certain place and want to spend more time, we will adjust the rest of your itinerary on the fly to make it happen. If you see something on the road that you want to check out, just ask your driver to stop. Machi Mouchkil (“No problem”).
2. Provide immersive experiences. We believe that the real beauty of Morocco is the culture and the people. In addition to the “must see” sites, we will provide unique experiences that let you mix and mingle with the local people - No matter what level accommodations you prefer.
3. Give back. We are committed to the development of the communities in which we operate, so we partner with businesses that are locally owned and operated as much as possible. For you that means high-quality, non-touristy, responsible travel with stays in authentic accommodations (riads, kasbahs, berber tents) and unique access to the local people.

Camel ride in was fun and dunes spectacular at night and sunrise. Tents were nice. Music at night was good but short (20 minutes?). Dinner was fine. They did not communicate the schedule: when music would start, when to meet for morning AV rides if interested, we were told there would be a camel ride out but there was not. We shared lunch with the Berbers, hiked the Atlas Mountains, explored the Agafay Desert by camel and quad bike, wandered through the souks of Marrakech, relaxed in a hammam, and enjoyed the most delicious tagine meal prepared in the home of a Moroccan chef.
Our guided tour of Marrakech with Hicham was incredibly informative, and we learned so much about the history of North Africa. Omar, our tour manager, treated us like family. We had an amazing time with him and gained an even deeper appreciation for Moroccan culture. Throughout the trip, we felt safe, well cared for, and truly welcomed—we already miss him.
I cannot recommend this group enough, and we will definitely be using their services again in the future.

Our trip to Morocco was marvelous on all counts--seriously! This was in large part due to the communication with the local travel specialist, Nihad, who planned the trip exactly according to our preferences, and the remarkable warmth, dependability and excellent communication with our driver, Ahmed, who was with us for 12 days. The kimkim site requires an extensive questionaire to be completed, which was very helpful in understanding how/what we wanted from our trip. We wanted to learn about the history, culture, food, and local customs. We wanted to go to multiple large cities and small towns (Rabat, Tangier, Chefchaouen, Fes, and Marrakesh), and also see the Atlas mountains, the Sahara Desert, and local villages. Thanks to kimkim, Nihad, and our fantastic driver, Ahmed, we got to do all of that.

Ahmed was very responsible and kept up with potential weather concerns. As we we were about to go through the mountains, there was a lot of snow. Ahmed rerouted us, and while we forwent a couple of stops (to Ifrane, for one), we still had a breathtaking drive, and several informative stops along the way. We went to an incredible fossil museum where Ahmed had arranged a very informative and eye opening tour with a paleontologist, a local visit to Tinghir, where another local contact of Ahmed, Abdullah, we met a teacher and her family living in a village that was largely abandoned, but where no money changed hands and we learned about the local crops (palm dates, alfalfa, and other plants) that villagers tended collectively. One more crucial detail: Ahmed introduced us to a whole range of Saharan music, Amazigh musicians, and Gnaoua music--these were great soundtracks on our multiple days of long drives throughout the country.

We stayed exclusively in riads along the way. All of the riads were beautiful, some of them intricately renovated. We had great private rooms with excellent hot functioning showers. The hotel staff was, without fail, warm and welcoming--in every riad. Our breakfasts in each riad were excellent. In places where dinner would be hard to obtain, dinner had already arranged as part of the tour--another detail taken care of through kimkim. The one place where our riad was a bit uncomfortable was in Marrakesh (but the hotel staff and food were excellent!), The Riad La Croix Berbere Deluxe was billed as a suite, but it was a room with a connecting bridge that looked into our neighbors' room and their "living area". It was very noisy, because if the neighbors were in their living area and talking, we could see them and hear them. The "suite" was not private, unless you shut yourself in the bedroom, which was so small there was no room for luggage. I would recommend that this riad not be used in the future (again, though, the staff was marvelous).

In conclusion, we had a fantastic trip and will definitely use kimkim in the future. This was our first experience with kimkim and, having used the service once, we feel more comfortable in crafting our next adventure with this company. The cost of this trip was more than worth it--to be relieved of planning, and to be taken care of so well.

Riad La Croix Berbère Luxe

The hotel was located inside the medina, and felt a bit cramped. The hotel staff were amazing and kind, even making us a breakfast package for our very early morning departure from Marrakesh (very useful on a 10 hour Delta flight that provided very little food returning to ATL). They had umbrellas for guest use, very handy given that it rained while we were there. The room we stayed in was designated a "suite". But it was not a suite. It was a very small room (granted, with high ceilings) that left no space for luggage. The "suite part was a bridge from the hotel steps to the room (very tastefully decorated, and gave us space for our luggage), that overlooked our neighbors' room and allowed us to look directly onto the neighbors' "living room"--with their snacks, coats, and even hearing their conversations at full volume because there was no glass or partition shielding them from our view. We were part of their conversation. Ditto for the floor above us. They too had a bridge overlooking the room, and they could hear our conversation/vice versa. this meant that when one of us came in late, the others would be awakened. There was no sense of privacy unless you shut the glass doors of the room (and needless to say, no windows in the room), so a bit suffocating. But again, the staff was lovely. I would not recommend these rooms in that hotel to anyone.

What an amazing experience! The tent is fully functioning: excellent toilet. Shower was hand-held but it did the trick--it was super cold, understandably. At first, we grumbled about how far a walk it was to our tent (given that it was quite empty due to snowed in roads that had prevented 20 guests from reaching). But we soon realized that the views from our tent were absolutely stunning. Sand dunes, no tents obstructing our views. We were very lucky to have such a great tent. The food was very good. The welcoming reception was lovely--tea and some snacks. The reception room was gorgeous and grand. Loved it! The bonfire was lovely. TBH, it felt like a bunch of Moroccan bros drumming for fun--but we didn't mind. They were sweet, kind, and enthusiastic, and very funny!

This hotel had the most remarkable views of the mountains of Chefchaoun. Be warned: many many street steps to get up to hotel. But this is where you learn how incredibly fit and inshape the staff are--they lugged our 3 big bags up those steps and we lost sight of them! They brought us tea to warm us, and our balcony overlooking part of the city was magical. Dear Mark,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a thoughtful and detailed review of your trip to Morocco. It was truly a pleasure helping you plan this journey, and I’m delighted to hear that it was marvelous from start to finish.

I’m especially happy that the itinerary matched your preferences for history, culture, food, and local customs, and that you enjoyed the balance between the larger cities and the smaller towns and villages. Morocco has so many different faces, and it means a lot to know that you were able to experience its diversity.

Ahmed will be thrilled to read your kind words. He takes great pride in his work, and your feedback about his dependability, communication, and care for your safety—especially with the weather in the mountains—means a great deal.

It’s wonderful to hear that you enjoyed staying in riads and felt so welcomed by the staff along the way, and that the meals and arrangements helped everything feel easy and stress-free. I’m very sorry, however, that your suite in Marrakesh at Riad La Croix Berbère Deluxe did not meet your expectations in terms of comfort and privacy. I truly appreciate you sharing these details. Feedback like this is invaluable.

Most of all, I’m grateful that you trusted us with your first trip and that the experience has left you feeling confident about planning your next adventure this way. Knowing that the trip felt more than worth the cost, and that you could fully enjoy Morocco without worrying about the logistics, is exactly the outcome we aim for.

Thank you again for traveling with us and for your kind words, It would be a pleasure to help you design your next journey whenever you’re ready.

Warm regards,

Our driver Mo was amazing during the bad weather and the additional delays. The staff at the desert camp arranged for us to have the camel ride experience in the morning as we went to see the sunrise and helped us set up a quad bike/atv experience in the dunes, which was a lot of fun. It is a genuine pleasure to review our Kim Kim experience in Morocco. We worked directly with Sharon of Immersion Travel whose choice of our guide, Omar, could not have been a more fortuitous choice.

From the moment we saw Omar’s smiling face to the moment we were dropped off for our return flight, Omar’s professional attitude and friendly vibes were a delight to behold. What a gem!

Our first day there was also very successfully managed by our capable city guide, Hameed, who was kind enough to navigate a rainy day throughout the winding Medina alleyways. He was patient with all our interests and allowed for an impromptu lamb barbecue lunch to beat the band. We were satiated and satisfied at day’s end for sure.

Once acclimated, on Wednesday, we toured Marrakesh’s Majorelle and Anima Gardens with Omar ably driving us. On Thursday, we enjoyed a real treat as we grocery shopped and cooked in a traditional Moroccan home. Narwal was a welcoming hostess/chef as she knowingly picked out produce and showed us how to prepare our delicious lunch. Even her daughters participated with the youngest delightfully suggesting we wear the traditional Kaftan. “Dressing up” truly enhanced our delicious tagine chicken lunch accompanied by vegetables, homemade bread and mandarin oranges for dessert. The spicy cooking lessons we learnt will certainly enhance our meals back home.

Omar’s guidance throughout our final days lead us to experience a majestic camel ride that included a wonderful evening meal along with musical performances. The sunset could not have been more beautiful as golden light bounced off the dunes. Remarkable pictures taken by our happy guide will be forever memories.

The final day of our stay was an outdoor adventure as we drove into the Orika Valley. We were stunned by the beauty there as a recent snowfall had dusted the mountains and water gushed through the main river. Omar was kind enough to arrange for our hiking guide, Mohammed, to take us up a mountainside to see a stunningly raging waterfall. Although the terrain got step and slippery, Mohammed’s steady hand was like an angel. His expertise was certainly what kept me balanced as some of the rocky paths appeared too dangerous to pass. An achievement to have accomplished and worthy of our delicious riverbank lunch afterwards.

If Morocco’s Berber culture could be reflected in one person it would be in our guide, Omar. Friendly and available for any question or concern (even brought an extra jacket for hiking) we could not have been luckier to have his extensive guidance on this first time experience. Shout out to Hameed as well.

Kudos to everyone at Kim Kim and Immersion travel. Morocco was an adventure we will not soon forget!

Our experience with KimKim and the local company we worked with was very high quality and met our expectations. We would like to particularly highlight our tour manager/driver Ali for his unfailing politeness, his exceptional driving skills, his problem solving approach, his flexibility and the pride he had in his home country. Sharon’s company provided us with high quality guides in the places we visited. Our guides were fluent in English and had in depth knowledge/expertise to share. We did learn that one must be flexible in Morocco and understand that the culture offered us opportunities to be less driven by strict timelines and more by the opportunities in the moment.

This was a super day as well. Noel and her daughter were such wonderful hosts…and the food was superb.

Best meal we had in Morocco. Very interesting to go to market first. Not sure we ‘cooked’ that much but learned a lot and really enjoyed talking with Noel’s daughter.

Long day but so interesting. Saw the gorge on this day and then Ait Ben Haddou as well. Ali worked with our needs and let us doing some shopping. Rose cooperative was not a particularly interesting stop. Great guide at Ait Ben Haddou. Found the experience at the movie location very disappointing. I would highly recommend skipping this part of the tour or find a better guide. I don’t think you can take private guides in there; we were in a huge group with a guide that was very lackluster.

Really enjoyed this day. Went to the market; went to the village. Had a very interesting tour with Sharon’s husband and a wonderful, wonderful young woman learning to be a guide. There had been a funeral in the village so we didn’t cook, but participated in a lovely tea ceremony and had a great meal. Really interesting day.

Hicham, our guide, was extremely knowledgeable and very patient with our gaggle of women. He was flexible and took everyone’s desires into his consideration. The best part of our trip was joining an Amazigh family in the Valley of Roses for couscous, music, and henna tattoos. I always loved seeing the sand dunes of the Sahara dessert.
