Morocco Immersion Tours and Adventures

Morocco Immersion Tours & Adventures is a family . . . literally. As direct descendants of the first dynasty of Morocco, our family history is entwined with that of Morocco. We founded Morocco Immersion because of our love of our Berber culture and our desire to share it with the world. With over 20 years of experience in the Moroccan tour industry, we provide safe and affordable adventures that allow you to immerse yourself in the beauty and magic of the REAL Morocco. When you travel with us, you aren’t a “tourist.” You are an honored guest of the family. And that is the BEST way to experience Morocco.

Our Philosophy

We have built our company on three basic principles:
1. Know our guests and be flexible. Unlike many tour operators in Morocco, our drivers are part of our team. That means that before you arrive in Morocco, your driver will have details about your interests and itinerary. Once you arrive, we are flexible with your itinerary. If you love a certain place and want to spend more time, we will adjust the rest of your itinerary on the fly to make it happen. If you see something on the road that you want to check out, just ask your driver to stop. Machi Mouchkil (“No problem”).
2. Provide immersive experiences. We believe that the real beauty of Morocco is the culture and the people. In addition to the “must see” sites, we will provide unique experiences that let you mix and mingle with the local people - No matter what level accommodations you prefer.
3. Give back. We are committed to the development of the communities in which we operate, so we partner with businesses that are locally owned and operated as much as possible. For you that means high-quality, non-touristy, responsible travel with stays in authentic accommodations (riads, kasbahs, berber tents) and unique access to the local people.

The local guides and our driver, the intrepid Hashim, were drawn from a tour group called Immersive Morocco, I think. They were all knowledgeable, professional and enthusiastic about the culture and different regions of the country. We stayed inside the walls of the old city in both Fes and Marrakech, which were unique and authentic! The camel camp in the Sahara was a real treat, too. I recommend doing it all!! We also stayed in a renovated casbah. What an experience! It was a lengthy road trip but Hisham knew all the spots to stop, where the cleanest restrooms were located and was able to point out interesting facts along the way. Nihad easily substituted one of my friends in their place, which increased the price only slightly. We started in Marrakech (2 nights at the excellent Riad al Rimal), then traversed the High Atlas Mountains to Valley of Roses (2 nights at the stunning Kasbah Tiziri). We took a camel ride to the desert camp (Sahara Stars Luxury Camp) for 1 night, then went on to Fes (2 nights at the Riad Farouzi Fes). We flew back to Marrakech for 2 nights (again at the Riad al Rimal). We spent our last free day seeing the Jardins Majorelle (spectacular), the Museum of Berber Arts, and the Yves St. Laurent museum.

The high points: observing the traffic in Marrakech (wild!), our lunch with the locals in the Valley of Roses, the camel ride to the desert camp, the stop at the women's cooperative Berber rug shop, every city guide we toured with, and the people of Morocco, all of whom were so warm and welcoming. Kudos to Nihad, who always responded immediately to our questions. And of course Richad, our tour manager/driver, who was invariably pleasant, helpful, patient, and informative.

First, who is Sharon? We never worked with anybody named Sharon to our knowledge. We did work with Marion. We had a lot of back and forth to get the trip that we wanted. It seemed that our requests were overlooked and we had to keep bringing them up.
Arriving in Casa Blanca our driver was not at the airport to meet us. We had to call the given phone number and coordinate the meeting. The driver, who was the first day guide, did not speak English well and was not easily understood. The first day's tour was not as presented, consequently we did not really understand some of the stops. (We stopped at a plaza with lots of pigeons???) It would have been nice to have the driver's name ahead of time. The size of the van was nice.
Rabat--our guide was knowledgeable and gave a good presentation.
Chefchoun--our orientation walk did not happen at first. We were delivered to the hotel and we then asked Rashid, our driver, to give us a quick rundown.
On the way to Fez we stopped at the Volubilis ruins and the local guide, although knowledgeable, was on his phone all of the time. I almost asked him if we were interfering with his day. The restaurant, Roman City, was excellent. The chef, using his mother's recipes presented a great lunch (one of the better meals of our trip to that point). The ruins are ok, but if you have been to as many Roman ruins as we have it was redundant.
In Fez, our local guide was excellent. He had the patience of Job with all of the stops that the ladies in our group wanted.
Regarding the desert camp, we should have prepared a small bag for the overnight and left the suitcases in the van (please suggest this to future travelers). This would have made the transfers much easier and better. The camp was good, our camel guide was great and very nice.
Atlas Mountains-Dades. We stopped at the "Hollywood" movie studios to, take a picture of the outside? We had been in the car for an hour and half or two hours and were expecting a restroom. Nope, we would have had to pay to enter the facility. We did stop shortly down the road after requesting a break. The Eden Hotel was great but we only spent fifteen hours there.
Marrakesh--our guide was good and visiting a Madrassa was educational and brought history to life.
Essaouria--we were supposed to go to a restaurant where we would pick out our fish and it would be cooked for us. This feature was skipped entirely and we missed it (we have done this in other countries and enjoyed it greatly). We found the above restaurants the next day after our cooking class but were too full to have a dinner. The cooking class was well done, shopping, chopping and eating.
Essaouria to Marrakesh--our driver Hallie was early (we left prior to six AM!) and very nice.

General notes:
All of the hotels were very good to excellent and well situated.
We were never informed that KimKim was going to "sell" our trip to another broker. We were surprised to find this out two days prior to the start when we received release forms from Ultimate Morocco. We were disappointed as we thought that you were the actual tour company.
It would be beneficial to future travelers if you gave an idea of the cost of all of the meals that had to be paid in cash. ATM's were usually easy to find but limited in how much cash could be taken out. International banks like BNP Paribas was a great option and we suggest that guides direct guests to these branches.
As with all trips that we go on, adding tips to the package is irritating. Since you give suggestions on tipping, just include the amount and pay the drivers and guides directly.

Lastly, as we stated earlier, our photographs, videos names or likeness may not be used in any social media or posted online.

I am Sharon, Maryem's supervisor. We both represent the company that executed the tour on the ground in Morocco. I'm listed as your specialist now, because Maryem recently left our company. Both myself and my business partner were regularly in contact with your travel companion, George, to make sure everything was going well with your trip. We are sorry that you missed the seafood stop in Essaouira. We will speak with our tour managers to make sure that they help with that in the future. It is normally an optional activity as not everyone wants to do it, but he should've done it for you since you were interested.

Unfortunately, in Volubilis, the guides are employed by the site itself and although we try to get the best English speaking guide available for our guests, that is something that we cannot always control.

But it does sound like a lot of your trip was enjoyable and we are happy that you enjoyed your private guides in Rabat, Fes, and Marrakech.

My mother and I recently returned from an unforgettable 12-day trip through Morocco with Morocco Immersion, and we can’t recommend this experience highly enough. From start to finish, everything was seamless, meaningful, and beautifully organized.
Our driver and tour manager Ali was truly exceptional, a wonderful guide and even better person. His kindness, enthusiasm, and deep love for Morocco made every moment special. He ensured everything ran smoothly, filled each day with laughter, and introduced us to the country through his own genuine passion for its culture, people, and landscapes. By the end of the trip, it felt like traveling with a friend.
We were also fortunate to explore Fes with our local guide Rashid, who brought the city’s winding alleys, lively markets, and ancient monuments to life with fascinating stories. In Marrakesh, our guide Ali (different from our driver!) led us through the vibrant Medina, sharing layers of history as we walked, it truly felt like stepping back in time.
One of our most cherished memories was our sunset camel ride into the Sahara Desert, followed by a magical night at our desert camp, a once-in-a-lifetime experience we’ll never forget. Another highlight was visiting Boumalne Dades, where we learned to make traditional couscous and shared a meal with Ali’s family. Their warmth and hospitality were deeply touching and gave us a glimpse into the heart of Moroccan life.
Throughout the trip, we were continually amazed by the beauty and comfort of our accommodations, from riads filled with light and intricate details to stunning kasbahs surrounded by nature. A special mention goes to Kasbah Tiziri in Boumalne Dades, with its beautifully renovated interiors and incredibly kind owners and staff, and to Riad Chems Bleu in Essaouira, a true hidden gem with sun-filled rooms, a serene courtyard, and breathtaking views from the rooftop.
Every part of this journey reflected the care and authenticity that Morocco Immersion puts into their trips. It was an experience that combined culture, adventure, and heartfelt human connection. The kind of trip that stays with you long after you return home.

We had an incredible stay at Sahara Stars Luxury Camp, a beautiful and scenic desert retreat. Our room was stunning, with thoughtfully chosen furnishings, attention to detail, and air conditioning for added comfort. The bathroom was clean and spacious, though the drainage was a bit slow, nothing that took away from the experience. The hospitality and service were wonderful, and both dinner and breakfast were delicious with plenty of options. The evening entertainment was a true highlight, featuring live music around the campfire under the stars. Waking up early to catch the sunrise was by far the best part. Walking into the desert and climbing the dunes to watch the first light was unforgettable. Sunset was equally magical, with comfortable lounge seating perfectly positioned to take it all in. All in all, a beautiful stay and easily one of our favorites from the trip.

The owners were by far the kindest and most welcoming hosts, sparking wonderful conversations and sharing stories that made us feel truly at home. They offered great recommendations and made our stay even more memorable. Our room was beautiful, with exceptional attention to detail in the furnishings, layout, and design. The meals were delicious, offering a range of traditional Moroccan dishes along with a few creative surprises that stood out from other stays.
