Jun 19 - Jun 29, 2026
This was our return trip to Iceland to experience the Eastern Fjords, the North, and the Northern West Fjords. Gummi planned our trip expertly, providing us with iconic and beautiful places to visit on our journey around some of the less-traveled places.
Thank you again for a great experience!
Hotel Reviews
The hotel was clean; however, the restaurant staff was not very helpful.
The hotel was clean and comfortable, but lacked hospitality.
The hotel needs a lot of updating, but the staff was very nice, and the food was good.
The hotel is very nice; however, our room lacked air circulation.
We stayed at this hotel last year, and it was very comfortable and pleasant. This year was not so agreable.
This was an amazing hotel. The staff were very friendly, the location was picturesque, and the restaurant, although it had a small menu, was delicious.
Activity Review
This drive was easy with many beautiful sights along the way. Mainly on Route 1, the ring road. Studlagil Canyon was an amazing experience with a reasonable hike and round-trip walk of about 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Gummi had us park on the East Side of the canyon, which gave us the most amazing views. You can walk down to the river's edge, which on the other side of the canyon you cannot do. From here, we went to Dettifoss and Selfoss, both beautiful waterfalls, although I preferred Selfoss as you could view the entire waterfall. Dettifoss is partially hidden. We then went to Hverir geothermal park, where our lungs were filled with the smell and sound of bubbling mud pits and steam pumping through stacks. The colors in the landscape vary widely, and the place looks like you landed on the moon! Our final stop was the Fosshotel in Lake Myvatn.
Thank you for the kind review Zoe.
I am happy to read that the trip went well, but I see I might have to follow up on some of the hotels. I am curious to know what changed at Hotel Viking. Do you think it's just the luck of the draw, or has the quality of their service declined?
I agree that Fosshotel Eastfjörds is amazing!
