We had a wonderful first trip to Thailand thanks to kimkim. Tina, our local specialist, was extremely responsive whenever a question or issue came up, and even changed our itinerary on the fly (for the very next day) when we decided we wanted a shift in experiences. And we loved our drivers and tour guides, especially Pear and Dam from Udomporn Tours in Chiang Mai.

Accommodations were all excellent (The Quarter Ladphrao in Bangkok, U Inchantree in Kanchanaburi, and Buri Sriping Resort in Chiang Mai), except for The Cottage Suvarnabhumi for our Bangkok airport stay - do not recommend.

Make sure to ask for the exact meeting points in the airport (e.g. at which door your driver will be waiting) and confirm pickup times the day before with your driver, we had some mixups but they always worked out.

This hotel seemed far from the things we were doing in Bangkok (temples, markets) but it is close to Union & Central malls and has some walkable local bars nearby. Also the 7-11, Otteri (laundromat) and Just Massage right outside the door are great.

Felt a little out of the way from attractions, and there is no sidewalk on a fairly busy street so I would not consider it walkable. But it's fairly cheap to take Grab cars around, and while we didn't have time to enjoy it, it is on a river.
