Guides: Siem Reap- Our guide and driver were perfect. Thank goodness our guide knew all of the best spots to see. His itinerary was much better than the one provided by KimKim. Bangkok- Guide and driver were perfect. Tammy knew all of the best spots, the best itinerary- again, much better than listed on Kimkim itinerary. Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai- Driver great. Our guide was nice but her English was terrible. She only spoke when we asked questions, and most of the time she could not understand us. She veered off of our KimKim plan as she did not want to go to Myanmar. Phuket- Guide and driver fine. She was nice but was never really our guide. All she did was ride in the car while we were driven to hotel, airport and Phi Phi island boat excursions.
Hotels: Siem Reap- Perfect!!! Bangkok- Perfect. Chiang Rai- A bit old and dated, but perhaps the nicest one in that area. Chiang Mai- Loved this hotel! Phuket- Dreadful. I put 100% faith in what you chose and planned. First the hotel was huge- we wanted small. It was a family one and we only wanted adults. It was on the west coast where swimming was too dangerous. How was I to know that? Also, yes, I did say I wanted Phuket, but I wish Kelly had suggested other options, like Koi Samui. I had no idea Phuket was going to be so crowed, I hated the hotel, and was really disappointed that we couldn't even go into the water.
Activities: Siem Reap- Awesome. Loved all the Ankors, and again, so grateful our guide knew the places to take us that were not on our KimKim itinerary. The street tour was fine, but we were so tired. I liked the village tour, but seeing that we are supposed to be very careful about food, I didn't eat anything, but my daughter did, and she got really sick. The timing was off for the lake tour- to the airport, we arrived way too early. Bangkok- Again, thank goodness for our guide. She was always ready with a snack, water, a wipe. She took us on the best adventures. But again, she got us to the airport 4 hours before our flight. Bad planning on KimKim. Chiang Rai-Unfortunate that our guide wouldn't take us to Myanmar even though on our itinerary. The gardens were pretty. We loved the boat ride. The opium museum was super dated and could give the information in a better way. The Karen village was the worst. It felt like we were looking at animals in a zoo. Chiang Mai- The elephants were the best! Phi Phi islands were cool- although SO many people. KimKim has to get better at just leaving the facts on the itinerary- 1. What time pick up. 2. What to wear. 3. What to bring. 4 How long drive times and activities. 5. What time home .

Hi Ashley,
Thank you so much for taking the time to share such detailed feedback on your recent trip. I'm truly glad to hear that many parts of your journey — especially in Siem Reap, Bangkok, and Chiang Mai — were memorable, and that you had some excellent experiences with the guides and drivers there.

I'm especially happy that the guides in Siem Reap and Bangkok went above and beyond to enhance your trip with their local knowledge and personal touch. That’s exactly the kind of experience we hope to create for our travelers.

That said, I want to sincerely apologize for the areas where the experience did not meet your expectations, particularly in Chiang Rai and Phuket. Your comments about the guide’s communication challenges and the deviation from the itinerary are very concerning, and I will be addressing this with our local partners to ensure proper training and clarity moving forward.

Regarding the hotel in Phuket — I deeply regret that it did not match what you were looking for. Thank you for pointing out the mismatch in style and location. In the future, we’ll be more proactive in offering alternative options such as Koh Samui, especially when adult-only or less crowded environments are preferred. Your comment about water safety and beach suitability is especially helpful — this is something we’ll be sure to highlight more clearly going forward.

I also appreciate your notes on itinerary clarity. Your suggestion to include precise details like pickup times, dress codes, what to bring, drive times, and return times is excellent. We are currently reviewing our itinerary formats and will use your input to improve the experience for future travelers.

Regarding the food incident during the village tour — I’m truly sorry to hear that your daughter became ill. While we always aim to include authentic local experiences, we will ensure guides provide clearer advice on food safety, especially when allergies or sensitivities are involved.

Once again, thank you for your honesty. Feedback like yours is invaluable — it helps us grow and provide better experiences. If there’s anything I can do to follow up on any part of your trip or assist you in planning future travel, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Warm regards,
Kelly
