The distance between the Italian resort town of Courmayeur to lakeside Champex in Switzerland is only 47 miles (76 km). The only real option is to make the trip by car, either self-driving or with a private driver. It takes about an hour and a half to drive there on scenic mountain roads.

This area is world-renowned for its hiking and climbing—consider this 6-day trekking tour of nearby Mont Blanc.

By Rental Car or Private Transfer

Duration 1.5 hours, more with traffic

Driving is the only practical way to get to Champex, taking Route de la Forclaz to Route du Grand-Saint-Bernard/Route 21. Route 21 is a major highway (with tolls—be prepared with cash) and depending on when you're traveling you may experience traffic, especially during the holiday season. Once in Champex, a good daytime parking option is the free lot at the Skyway Monte Bianco cable car.
