The distance from Toledo to the Andalusian city of Seville is about 307 miles (494 km). You have the option of going to Madrid by bus, car, or private transfer, and then taking a quick one-hour flight to Seville. You can also drive (or hire a private transfer to take you) directly to Seville from Toledo, which takes 4.5 hours and gives you the opportunity to stop in Cordoba.

Bus and train routes are available, but you will have to travel to Madrid first and then change, which is out of the way and will cause the journey to take longer.

By Flight from Madrid

Duration: 1-hour drive to Madrid, 1-hour flight to Seville

Flying is a fast and easy way to get from Toledo to Seville, if you don’t mind passing through Madrid first. Toledo does not have an airport.

You can get from Toledo to Madrid via private transfer or rental car. There is also the option of taking a bus. Both routes will take about an hour. Remember to leave ample time before your flight, and avoid traveling during the morning rush hour when commuters will be driving into Madrid.

Regular direct flights from Madrid to Seville are operated by Air Iberia and Air Europa. Tickets usually cost under 100 euros.  

By Rental Car or Private Transfer

Duration: 4.5 hours, more with stops

You can get from Toledo directly to Seville by booking a private transfer. Or, if you didn’t already rent a car when you arrived in Spain, you can rent one from any of the several agencies operating in Toledo. 

There are two options for driving from Toledo to Seville: you can take highways A5 and A66 through Extremadura, or you can take highway A4 through Castille-La Mancha. While the Extremadura route may save you some time due to less traffic, the Castille-La Mancha route passes through Cordoba, where you can see the famous Cordoba Mezquita, Alcazar, and Cordoba Synagogue.

By Train

Duration: 5 hours

Spain’s state-owned train operator is called Renfe. Renfe frequently runs trains between Toledo and Madrid, as well as trains from Madrid to Seville's Santa Justa Station. The trains running from Madrid to Seville are high-speed AVE trains, and take only two hours. However, the entire trip, including the transfer at Madrid's Atocha Station, will take you around five hours. 

It is a good idea to book tickets in advance, in order to avoid an additional fee applied at the station. 

By Bus

Duration: 8 hours

The bus route from Toledo to Seville also involves a transfer in Madrid. This route will take you about 8 hours in total, including the one-hour journey to Madrid, the transfer time and the six-hour bus journey to Seville.

ALSA runs frequent buses every half-hour from Toledo’s main bus station to Madrid’s Plaza Eliptica Station.

Once you reach Plaza Eliptica, you will have to travel to another bus station in Madrid, known as Estacion Sur (South Station). This is where the buses to Seville leave. To get between Plaza Eliptica and Estacion Sur, you can take a 10-minute taxi ride, or take Line 6 of the Madrid Metro, which will take around 20 minutes. 

Socibus runs a few buses each day from Madrid to Seville, which can be booked in advance. The bus makes a 30-minute pit stop along the way, where you will have the opportunity to buy food or use the toilet. The stop is several hours into the journey, closer to Seville.
