Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Lusaka - Mfuwe

You'll first arrive in Lusaka at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport (LUN). From there, you'll take another flight to Mfuwe. When you arrive at Mfuwe Airport (MFU), a representative will be waiting to take you to the camp where you will stay for the first three nights. The grounds of the camp overlook a rich flood plain and the Luangwa River, and the main camp area consists of a dining area, lounge, swimming pool, and a natural hot tub. There is also a photographic hide in front of the lodge that allows you to get a closer look at the animals in the park.

Your accommodation is in chalets on raised, wooden platforms with thatched roofs. A private veranda provides even more incredible views from the comfort of your room. The camp also offers relaxing spa treatments. You'll have the evening free to unwind and settle in after your flight.

Days 2-3: Explore South Luangwa National Park

For the next two days, you'll be able to book your own activities, safari drives, and bush walks to see wildlife.

You'll also have the opportunity to visit the local community to learn more about their way of life and vibrant culture, and the residents welcome visitors. traditions. Day 4: Transfer to Island Bush Camp

After breakfast this morning, a driver will pick you up and take you to Island Bush Camp. Roughly 3-hours south of Kafunta River Lodge and even more tranquil, Island Bush Camp provides almost complete solitude. With five chalets on stilts—each one open and overlooking the river—you'll have fabulous views from the comfort of your room. En-suite bathrooms have flushing toilets, cold running water, and a bucket of hot water is provided once a day for a bucket shower.

Your safari and outdoor activities for the day are focused on walking, so wear comfortable shoes and clothing.

Day 5: Walk from Island Bush Camp to Three Rivers

Today, you have the option of walking 4 miles (7 km) from Island Bush Camp to the secluded Three Rivers Camp, which is a highly recommended experience. The staff will take care of transporting your luggage to Three Rivers Camp.

Three Rivers is a solar-powdered eco-camp that is set at the confluence of the Luangwa, Kapamba, and Lusangazi Rivers. The stylish tents are decorated with natural materials and lay under shady trees. Your cozy accommodation will offer views of the Luangwa River and the game-rich lagoon. Each tent has its own deck with comfortable chairs so you can enjoy the views. The en-suite bathrooms have double sinks, flushing toilets, and offer both indoor and outdoor showers. Mosquito nets are provided in each room so you can sleep comfortably.

Day 6: Free Day in South Luangwa National Park

You'll have the day free to book activities like safari drives, nature walks, birdwatching outings, and more.

Day 7: Flight to Zambezi

Today, a driver will take you back to Mfuwe Airport for your flight to Zambezi. This flight will have a layover in the capital of Lusaka, and when you land in Zambezi, you will be met by a Baines River Camp staff member and transferred to the lodge. Depending on when you arrive, you may have an opportunity to go on an afternoon game drive.

This camp offers an array of land- and water-based safari activities to choose from in and around the Lower Zambezi National Park. Your accommodation is a spacious suite with air-conditioning, ceiling fans, and decadent goose-down bedding with nice linen. Tonight, you can relax on your private veranda and enjoy the river views.

Days 8-9: Explore Lower Zambezi National Park

You have two full days here to enjoy game drives, canoeing, river cruises, nature walks, bird-watching, and more. 

Day 10: Departure via Lusaka

It's time to say goodbye to Zambia! A driver will pick you up at camp and transfer you to the airport for your flight to Lusaka. From Lusaka, you can connect to your international flight.
