It was great working with Vicky planning our Australia/New Zealand trip. Vicky is very knowledgeable about the areas we visited and was available for us every step of the way both in planning and during our trip. Communication was very easy with the KimKim chat function and response time from Vicky was always very timely. Vicky helped arrange some of our tours (as we left some days open to allow flexibility to choose tours or things to do after we arrived), airport transportation, flights and accommodations. After a quick 24 hours in Fiji, we started our New Zealand adventure in Auckland. We landed in Auckland and were promptly greeted by our driver, who delivered us to our accommodations. The Adina Apt Hotel Britomart was conveniently located within walking distance to some great restaurants and coffee shops, grocery store, Britomart Shopping Centre, Takutai Square and the Harbour where the cruise ship port is. Most notably, our favorite dinner here was at Amano, which also has an amazing bakery attached and favorite coffee shop was 1920's Cafe. We were able to walk to Auckland Domain, a park which led us to some great gardens, the Auckland War Memorial Museum and then down into the city where we visited the Auckland Sky Tower. Day 3 in Auckland we had a Private Full Day Rotorua Tour booked. Our driver arrived on time that morning at the hotel with plans to take us to Te Puia Geothermal and Maori Cultural Experience and Kiwi House, a brief stop at the Redwood Forest for a 30 min walk and then a visit to the Skyline Gondola for some great views from above. We really enjoyed TePuia and learning about the Maori culture. My only regret in Auckland is not getting to book a trip to The Waitomo Gloworm Caves.
Day 4 took us from Auckland to Queenstown, South NZ. The flight into Queenstown was amazing. Flying in between the mountain's surrounding Lake Wakatipu was so scenic. We were again promptly met by our driver and delivered to Heritage Queenstown Hotel. Located up on the hill, it made for great exercise going to and from into town for shopping and dinners. Our first night there we promptly booked the steamship cruise to Walter Peak Farm, where we enjoyed a delicious BBQ dinner at sunset, and sheep shearing show. I highly recommend the TSS Earnslaw Cruise and BBQ Dinner tour. The ship itself is pretty neat too. The town of Queenstown is great! Lots of great restaurants and shopping. Fergburger is a must (the long line goes fast), as well as Patagonia Ice Cream and Chocolatier. Vicky arranged the best MIlford Sound Fly, Cruise, Fly tour with Air Milford. Tom, our pilot, was great! We can't say enough good things about this tour! It's a must when in Queenstown. The views were awesome!! Great experience! We also visited the Skyline Gondola here too for more amazing views.
Day 7 took us from Queenstown, NZ to Sydney, Australia. Our driver Osman sent us a text notifying us that he was waiting outside in the pick-up area. We arrived at the Pullman Hyde Park Hotel. This was another hotel that was in a good location, with great views of the city and Hyde Park (it's beautiful by the way) and walking distance to everything we wanted to do including the Botanical Gardens. Although I think if we were to go back, I might book a hotel near Sydney Harbour for water views and closer to more restaurant choices. We were told we should check out The Rocks weekend market and we had a great time shopping there. Highly recommend this to other travelers. Great vendors, lots of great local made gifts, jewelry and art. We also enjoyed high tea at The Tea Cosy and the Sydney Sky Tower. Vicky booked us a great Hunter Valley Tour for day 10. Another all-day private tour where our driver took us to a great little breakfast spot at the marina on the Hawkesbury River, then gave us 2 options for places to experience koalas and kangaroos. We ended picking The Australian Reptile Park. What a treat! Not only did he get a great price for entry, but also for a one-on-one koala experience. We finished off the day with a wine tasting at Pepper Tree Winery and great lunch at another local winery called Ben Ean Cellars. A few additional tours we booked on our own while in Sydney that we highly recommend are the Sidney Opera House, a private Sydney Harbour Night Cruise with Sydney Luxury Cruise, (Stephan our Skipper was an awesome guide) and lastly a sunrise hot air balloon ride with breakfast over Camden Valley with Balloon Aloft. All of the crew with Balloon Aloft were great!
Day 11 we headed to Ayers Rock by flight. We loved, loved, loved Uluru. What a great location to take a breather between big city adventures. Being in the desert away from the hustle and bustle was just what we needed. We were shuttled by air-conditioned large shuttle bus to Sails in the Desert. I should probably mention the FLIES, there are a lot of them, but it was a small price to pay for the amazing time we had. Buy the fly net at the hotel lobby desk. It's worth it. Loved some of the shops in the Town Square, we found some of our best souvenirs there. We were able to do our laundry at the resort. Vicky booked our Sunset Uluru Experience with BBQ dinner, and it was awesome. We stopped at the Anangu Cultural Center before heading over to watch the sunset on Uluru with drinks and appetizers, then off to the dinner set up. After dinner the lights went out for the most amazing stargazing experience. The next morning, we booked ourselves on the AATKings Sunrise Field of Lights tour which was also amazing. Our only regret was not having an extra night there and experiencing Kata Juta.
Day 13 We arrived in Melbourne via flight. Our driver was timely and delivered us to the Novotel Melbourne Central.
In Melbourne we enjoyed The Sky Deck for overhead views and all the cool alleyways where you will find some great cafes and gelato shops and even some cool street art. Our best meals were at Palermo's and Red Spice Road both done family style to get a good taste of it all. A visit to Haigh's Chocolates was a must too. We booked a couple tours on our own and loved them both. Loved the Great Ocean Road and 12 Apostles tour through Wildlife Tours. Steve, our guide was really great!! If offered, do the helicopter over 12 Apostles. It's worth it! Our grand finale tour was booked on our last night at the recommendation of another traveler. it sells out fast, so do the Penguin Parade with the bonus of a stop at Brighton Beach and Moonlit Sanctuary (which was ok, but good for a bite to eat and some really pretty birds). We did ours through Go West Tours and Bree was awesome!
Our trip truly was amazing. All of our tour guides and drivers were great. All transportation vans were of good quality and showed up on time. I highly recommend Vicky and the services that Kim Kim provides. Thank you so much Vicky! This was the best itinerary! Our family came back with so many great memories.

Great Location. Within walking distance to the Britomart, the cruise ship port and some really great shopping and coffee shops. The room was comfortable but just ok. Our shower had some mildew in it and the kitchen was lacking in utensils. We only had 1 fork, fortunately most of the eating we did was out. The hotel lobby was good and had a restaurant for breakfasts and late-night eating too.

Gary was there for me online from start to finish, always checking in and quick to respond to my questions. He was so personable and easy to work with that I’m considering another vacation in 2025!

I loved that he worked with me to accommodate family who wanted to join me for part of my visit to Australia; his efforts to get my brother authorized as another driver for the rental; and changing out my hotel in Sydney during the planning process.

The itinerary with all the additional details and photos was super easy to follow - I appreciated having an electronic version as well as a printed version for when I was off grid and couldn’t connect via wifi to the internet.

I sat on the very top of Australia all by myself for over an hour last week and thought, “how fortunate am I to have had such a wonderful vacation that fell into place exactly the way I had dreamed.”

A huge thank you to Gary!
I’ll be back.
Cheers,
Jo

Four Seasons Sydney

It was expensive but so worth the luxury after a week off grid on Lord Howe Island. The views of the Opera House, Sydney Harbor Bridge and all the beautiful ocean liners coming and going from the 27th floor were spectacular. The bed, pillows, and linens were luxurious - just what I needed after five weeks of busy travel. The room had everything I needed, and then some! The valets were very responsive - never a bag did I have to lift. They even helped me get the rental car back to the hotel after I got lost in the city. Taking about the city, it was awesome to be only a stone’s throw from Circular Quay where I walked to catch buses and trains. I was so close to the Opera House, The Rocks, Museum of Modern Art, and Botanical Gardens, that I could stroll over to any of them within a few minutes. There’s a great little cafe in the lobby that caters for early risers or those who need a quick coffee. That would be me LOL!!! Next time I visit Sydney, that’s going to be my destination hotel. You have to spoil yourself once in a while - next time I’ll stay longer so I can really enjoy sleeping in one day and making the most of the best bed of my entire vacation!

Authenticity & Character
The luxury of being in a sanctuary that was peaceful and beautiful. The views, however, were mesmerizing. I stayed up late with the lights turned down so I could enjoy the magic of the harbor at night.

The cruise was definitely a highlight of our vacation. The staff were exceptional and very helpful. The gear provided was in great shape and we appreciated the stinger suits with the jelly fish in the area. The morning there were a lot of waves/rain but it didn't stop the adventure. The staff were very considerate to those that were experiencing sea sickness. The lunch provided was ample and tasty. The second location was particularly exciting but more because the weather had shifted and we weren't combating the waves as much so we were able to enjoy it a bit more. We took advantage of the glass bottom boat ride and appreciated the marine biologist giving us further insight into what we were looking at below. Overall a 10++ experience.

We really loved using the app Jon provided us with, it was very easy to keep track of all the steps of the trips.

Our day with the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway and Kuranda Scenic Railway was mostly great. We had a funny incident with the train, but our guide, Jon, handled it brilliantly. Despite a small hiccup, we were impressed by how well everything was managed. The scenic views were breathtaking, and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

The Great Ocean Road Day Tour was a memorable experience, although it was quite a long day. The tour guides worked hard to ensure we saw everything, and the sights like the kangaroos were amazing. We felt the tour could have been condensed a bit as it was a full day excursion, but overall, we were happy with the experience.

Hi Barbara, I'm glad you had an amazing trip! It's been wonderful working with you and as I mentioned you were great at letting me know exactly what you wanted to experience so I could build the perfect trip around that for you.
These hiccups do happen now and again on a trip (A bit of confusion on the pick-up location for a tour) but I'm glad you knew I was a message/phone call away so could jump straight on it and get you back on track immediately.
Thank you so much for joining us and if you ever find yourself on this side of the world again please feel free to reach out.

Queenstown (New Zealand) was amazing...the most adorable small town with many great restaurants and shops. Milford Sound was simply stunning! The e-bike tour through the vineyards was so much fun! Sydney was wonderful as well. We climbed the Sydney Harbor Bridge at night with the beautiful skyline and Sydney Opera House in full view - awesome (Anna, our guide, was amazing)! Not only did we tour the Opera House, but we were able to squeeze in a play while we were there (RBG: Of Many, One). The tour of Sydney was great and we took the ferry over to Manly Beach, which was fun and nice to get out onto the harbor! Auckland was nice (Sky Tower visit was neat) and Rotorua provided great insight on indigenous people with the Matai Maori Village show. Glow Worm Kayak tour at night was great (Jess was an amazing guide) and we saw the Southern Cross and Orion constellations. Stunning!! I wish we had more time in Australia and we will definitely be using Liz again when we head back to Australia. I would also definitely go back to the southern island of New Zealand again as well!

What another terrific trip we had thru the KimKim portal. Working with Liz Neal and her staff was truly a blessing since we had generated quite an aggressive "vacation" down under. In those 2-weeks we had a # of airline tickets, hotel stays, transfers to/from airports/hotels and excursions. It went like clockwork on the receiving end as all went very smoothly. I felt comfortable knowing that the major details had been put in place and that I could count on airline tickets being correct, hotels were ready for us and ride transfers were always there when expected. We could concentrate on merely enjoying the trip.

We saw & did many things on our trip and still trying to decide which major activity was our favorite:
NZ Gondola & Luge
NZ Shotover Jet Boat
Sydney Opera House
Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb
TAS Port Arthur tour
AUS Rottnest Ferry & Island

We'll have many lifetime memories from this trip and also opens the possibility of returning to these areas to spend additional leisure time.

Thank You so much for all your help in setting up our trip, and making it a reality, Liz. It was a pleasure working with you on this one and looking forward to the next trip.

The Ovolo Wooloomooloo was a great recommendation in Sydney although I would pass on the hotel recommendation in Palm Cove ( the Reef Retreat) as we prefer hotels over rooms where you don't have daily maid service. Their use of tacky tourist poster signs at the front entrance was a turn off. Liz also helped us tremendously in helping my husband connect with extended family in Brisbane (as shown in the profile photo)

We loved the tours which were organized however my criticisms in Australia are two:

The local Australia rep does not have a number reachable by WhatsApp. This is not great as trying to make a local call is expensive. The 24 hour line was reachable by Whats App but no one ever answered or responded to text messages sent on Whats App (even though it was clear the messages were read) This is a BIG deal because we were not informed that a separate service was picking us up and returning us home for our rainforest tour in Cairns. The driver who picked us up had no idea who was meeting us for the tour and the driver who took us back to the sky ride for hotel pick up had no idea who was picking us up. I asked every car in the waiting area if they were our driver just to luck out and find the driver who had arrived 45 minutes early (according to his notes) for our pickup. I am telling you now, if he had been on time 45 minutes later we would have been in an UBER. This lack of communication and inablilty to contact anyone locally is completely unacceptable.

Apart from the less than ideal Cairns transportation experience we had an enjoyable trip. Our experience in New Zealand was great, the local rep was reachable and we enjoyed each of the trips.

Please do consider recommending the Heal House Hotel in Brisbane. It is a 1st class B&B which we booked ourselves but you should be aware of. I told them I would inform you of them and I do believe they are open to working with travel agents since they do have to pay a commission to Hotels.com

The Heal house is a luxury 3 bedroom B&B run by a couple who go out of their way to ensure you have the best possible stay in Brisbane. The hosts provide you with a Go card on their account that allows you to use the public transport system to get around the river spots. You just pay them at the end for what you used. The beds were very comfortable, the bathrooms well-appointed with thoughtful touches like micellar wipes for female guests, cotton balls, swabs, robes, slippers etc. They pre-stocked the fridge with complimentary soft drinks, soda water and snacks. This trip was magical. People do need to know they will be in small spaces in 2 man kayaks. They will be provided with wetsuits and will get wet. Some kayaking experience is useful but not 100% required.

Hi Lory and Hans,
I'm glad you enjoyed the trip. And I'm glad all the research that I did to find an organization that was able to connect Hans with his relatives was successful. That was a lot of hours or research and phone calls, and although it was a task that went well beyond the job description of a travel agency, we were happy that it was successful, and we were able to help.

Regarding contacting our local representative, I'm not sure what happened there, because the same day you mentioned you couldn't reach them, I whatsapp them from my phone and was able to connect. - most likely you didn't have to dial the 0 in front of the number so whatsapp could make the call. Our local operator also tried to reach you and left a message, but never heard back from you.

Wishing you good travels in the future.

Hobart

Probably the best hotel we have ever stayed in. The spacious rooms, views of Hobart Harbor, the super friendly and helpful staff , sumptuous breakfasts, and overall vibe made this our favorite hotel on our trip.

Authenticity & Character
We loved how so much Hobart and Tasmanian history is infused into the hotel and our stay experience.

A Washer / dryer are in the cabins which was very helpful . A Good restaurant is open “on campus” for breakfast and evening dinner . This is helpful as there are limited dining options in port Arthur . The cabins have a full kitchen so dinning in is also an option. Check the hours and days the restaurant is open as they can be variable. There is a beautiful walking path along the waterfront at the lodge that continues to the Port Arthur Historical Site .

We upgraded our Room to a Harbor view . That was well worth the cost of the upgrade , from a bland any big city office building view to one overlooking the beautiful and bustling Darling Harbor . The roof top bar is a must with a stunning view of Darling Harbor with great cocktail and small bite food options. Loved the vibe . The breakfasts were excellent , combining a huge selection of options from various buffet stations with a choice to have made to order omelettes and Eggs Benedict . Bonus mimosas or Champaign included. The rooms were clean and bed very comfortable.

Location made it easy to access most areas of downtown Sydney with less that a 20 min walk or Uber ride
Staff
Cleanliness & Comfort
We requested for our room to receive housecleaning after erroneously indicating we did not need it , but they did not clean or refresh our room for another 24 hours and on,y then after a second request . Once they did refresh the room it was perfectly clean . The bed was very comfortable .
Freycinet Lodge
Coles Bay

Our upgraded room was amazing , with a private view of the granite mountains ( the Hazards) and an outside secluded bath . A nice perk is that everything in the mini bar and fridge was included in the room rate - no extra charges. The location was also unique , inside the National Park , affording easy access to hiking to overlooks with stunning views and access to a number of white sand beaches with pristine waters , with very few fellow beach goers. Excellent breakfasts. We liked the bistro for dinner - it seemed a better value and the food was great. The property has a beautiful expansive deck overlooking Cole’s Bay . An added plus - the lodge as free laundry facilities.

A wonderful way to see the city and get an initial overview / lay of the land. Dave ( a retired solicitor) our guide was excellent. We felt safe and learned so much about Melbourne. A must do . On of the highlights of the trip. The Penguin plus ( upgrade) viewing platform also a must . It is special experience to witness in less than a hour, the 1, 000 plus little blue penguins exiting the surf in unison and marching up the beach dunes to their burrows .

Food
As noted we did not have enough time (30 min) at the stop to order and finish our food before the departure from town . The food did not come for 20 minutes . Though the food was good , We were stuffing it in our mouths and it was not enjoyable . I would skip the food option and go for a quick fish and chips , sushi or pizza or deli.

Hobart

One of the best wildlife tours we have ever experienced . What makes this unique is that this is a rescue shelter so the wildlife is here either as their only resort due to injury or human abandonment or in a state of rehabilitation to be returned to their natural habitat. The early evening is a wonderful time to tour as for many of the animals this is their natural feeding time. This is also a semi private tour that has limited participants , otherwise closed to the public. One gets close to the kangaroos, wombats, ichybnas( our favorite) , 110 year old cockatoo (Fred) , and of course Tasmanian devils. Bono-Lou our tour guide was fantastic.

Fun tour , we loved all the stops along the way . Yummy artisan food and drink ( cheese , beer, honey, chocolate) . The lunch stop was also excellent . It is a long day but is broken up by several interesting stops as well as a ferry ride each way that helps break it up. The tour guide was terrific. My only suggestion would be to show the pickup spot on a map . We were not quite sure we were at the right spot and frantically walked the entire length of opera Quay as the boat was not there yet and arrived right at the pickup time , not a minute earlier . Understand as they may only be allowed to bump and run , but as a result a map in addition to the description would have helped .

I really enjoyed working with James and was pleased they were open to trying some different things. I had just returned from Tasmania in October so it was great to be able share these amazing experiences that fitted with their interests. I have personally done everything included in this itinerary so its great to speak from the heart and from actual experience.
