Kathmandu inside out, Nepal - Oct 2 - Oct 13, 2018

Traveler: Brent G. - Local specialist: Raj Gyawali

This worked out great!

We got to have input into where we went and what we did and it was easy. I worked on line with Anura before the trip to set our schedule and work out what we wanted to see.

When we arrived they meet us at the airport and every thing worked really well. My wife's suitcase as delayed and they helped with getting it sorted and getting us back out to the airport to pick it up.

The best:
1. This was not a group tour. We did not ride a round on a bus and get herded from place to place. This was very individual (my wife and myself).

2. We felt cared for and looked after. We knew that if we needed help we had a local resource. Travel in Nepal is wonderful but very a different experience. Just knowing that we had someone working for us was wonderful.

3. The value was great. Transportation (including in county flights), hotels and many of the meals, were all included.

4. We really liked the approach of Social Tours. They want to show you the real Nepal and believe they can be socially responsible as well.

Highly recommended.

Brent,

Was a total joy having you in Nepal, and personally I really had fun chatting, getting feedback, and making slight tweaks in your itinerary. Like I mentioned, you are the perfect fit for our kind of services - personal, flexible and deep in immersion - and I am glad that it worked out!

I hope to see you back in Nepal, or get an opportunity to tailor another trip for you in another part of the world! It will be a complete joy!

Thanks for taking the time to write a review! Its a great moral booster for me, the team, and an assurance that we are on the right track!

The once-in-a-lifetime views did not disappoint as we were lucky enough to have clear weather throughout my trek (not a cloud in the sky when I reached EBC and Kalapatar). People along the trail were also extremely friendly and it was interesting hearing stories from all walks of life. Highlight of the trip was definitely the view on top of Kalapatar - it's a difficult early morning hike that takes you above the elevation of EBC but the view was worth every step.

Highly recommend this trip to anyone who is even remotely considering it and definitely book through Ngima! Unforgettable experience all around and can't wait to go back!

Hi Lichi,
Thank you so much for your wonderful review. It's was a pleasure for me to organize the EBC trek for you. I will look forward to welcoming you soon in near future for your next trip to Nepal.

Manaslu and bhutan, Nepal - Sep 24 - Oct 12, 2018

Traveler: Scott C. - Local specialist: Erin Green

Erin was great at organising the trip and was very quick with responding to questions and requests. The guide was very knowledgable, well mannered and paced the trek well. The porters were also excellent, very friendly and worked exceptionally hard without complaints. The trip itself was very good. The circuit was a quieter than some others and the scenery was excellent. Overall the kimkim experience was very good, the staff were amazing and the trek was outstanding.

Ningma and Lhakpa gave me an unforgettable week heli-trekking to EBC in just a week! Sabin was an amazing guide!!! I don't think the experience would have been the same without him. His knowledge of the area and people seem unparalleled which made everything go smoothly and made me feel very comfortable visiting a place where I knew nothing of the language and customs. He went above and beyond in making our experience memorable, such as entertaining us with and teaching us card tricks, making lots of jokes, and serenading us with songs on the guitar. He was so much fun to be around and I look forward to our continued friendship! I cannot say enough good things about him and I hope to come back and it trek with him again!

Jill, so happy that the experience was wonderful for you.. as custom tailoring experts, this is exactly what we expect to deliver and it's always a joy to know it was successful. Will make sure to tell Sabin how much you enjoyed trekking with him.

Hope to see you in Nepal again at some point in time

My guide Phurba and porter Lakpa were the best I could have asked for. Not only were they excellent at what they were supposed to do, they were such fun and laid back guys, and worked so naturally to match my level of physical fitness. By only the end of the first day trekking, we had all become trekking buddies!

The trek itself had some lovely moments, and a few great views of the mountain range, but nothing extraordinary. Much of the trail is comprised of pesky loose rocks (terrible on the knee and ankle joints) and almost the entire trail is full of animal droppings. (think bad smells) Next time I'd like to try the higher elevation treks.

Prajwol Shrestha, local specialist, responded to this review:

Thank you very much for taking out some of your precious time on writing and sharing your experience, Michael. It was a great pleasure to organize the trip to Pikey Peak for you and glad to know that you are happy with our team's effort on making your trip a successful one. But I am sorry that you felt some discomfort on the trail due to loose rocks and animal poops. But if you choose to do higher elevation trek, there won't be the similar problem.

I look forward to helping you again for your next plan in Nepal.

The experience was very challenging, it is for most people, but they were our cheerleaders, friends and caretakers during the 17 days. We would repeat it again in a second. Nepal has a way of challenging everyone, and there is nothing better than feeling like someone is always watching your back when you are most seriously challenged physically and mentally. Thank you for such an unforgettable experience

He was very patient as we emailed back and forth trying to decide what kind of trip suited us and always replied very promptly. It was a very stress free experience as we were met at the airport by Sudarshan, our guide Sanu and driver Amrit, and were whisked off to the first night of our 3 day Balthali Trek. All 3 nights accommodation were very comfortable with excellent food and service - but the highlight was Namu Buddha Resort! A series of cottages spread out through a lovely garden - we had a large 2 story house just for 2 of us - and superb vegetarian food all grown on the property. The walk to the nearby Tibetan monastry was well within our capabilities and the monastry was spectacular. We were very well looked after by Sanu, who gauged our level of fitness and adjusted walking times accordingly, and answered our many questions about Nepalese lifestyle and customs. We were also very appreciative of Amrit's superb driving skills on very challenging roads. Both Sanu and Amrit were charming, helpful and considerate and we highly recommend their company - Blue Sheep - to travelers wishing to gain an insight into Nepalese culture. Sudarshan met us on our return to Kathmandu and was very helpful with advice for our brief visit to that very vibrant city.

Sudarshan Shrestha, local specialist, responded to this review:

Hi Sue. Thank you so much for your kind review. We here are very happy to read it and are glad that you really liked the service of Sanu and Amrit. Hope you had a very good tour around Rajasthan as well. Wishing you all the best :-)

Hi ! We did the Pikey peak and Solu trek package. It was even better than we expected. Amanda our local specialist really understood what we wanted, I asked for a trek with the least amount of tourist and she delivered. We did not see any tourist until the end of the trek, so our entire trek was nature and the locals (Sherpa coulture). Very sweet people, warm and very hospitable. We stayed in tea houses and they were great. Our guide Pemba was really great, he knew his stuff well and was very good about taking décisions when the weather was less than ideal. He was also really great at the Phaplu airport, a very tiny airport with very few flights and weather plays a huge role in you getting your flight and so does the delivery of goods to Lukla. So after stressing a bit thinking we may not get our flight, our guide found a way and we flew on saturday as planned, thank you Pemba for your hard work! Now our sherpas, they were so amazing, Dowa 1 and Dowa 2, they both had the same name so the told us to add the number when Calling their names. They were so great, they also did most of the cooking for us at the tea houses, they really went out of their way for us to be confortable and well fed.

As for the trek itself I loved all of it, my favorites, I really enjoyed Japre, I loved where we stayed at Pikey basecamp, climbing up to Pikey Peak at 6am in the fog and then seeing Everest was pretty magical. We all really enjoyed Loding village it was really relaxing after two hard days of Walking. When we arrived in Junbesi we immediately climbed to Thubten Choling Monastery, now that was the nicest most amazing mistical monastery I have ever visited. The monks where really warm and hospitable, they even invited us to their tea room for some delicious tea with milk and some local cookies.

I could go on and on, but if you want a trek that is a bit challenging but yet very enjoyable and minimal tourist with a real experience of the Sherpa culture, this is a really great trek. Thank you Amanda for your hard work and thank you Pemba for all the strings you pulled to get us back to Kathmandu ontime. I can't wait for my next trek in Nepal!!!

Review for Nepal trip from 9th Sept - 23rd Sept. This was my 2nd trip to Nepal but 1st time experience trekking in Nepal (Muldai and Poon Hill Trek). I arrived Nepal late night so reached Nagarkot in the mid night. Looking at the prepared delicious dinner inside my room, normally I don't take supper but can't resist it. Luckily I tried and had no regret to gain weight. :) I will have to come back to this place again as I did not have sunrise and panaroma view due to raining and foggy in the following day early morning. Anyway, I had fulfilled with local yogurt at Bhaktapur.

Actually I was quite excited while preparing for this trip though I did not have time to train my stamina, however, last minute being strike by over stress by work and almost collapse. So worry that I will not able to proceed with the hiking as per plan. Everything happened has its reason, this time, my domestic flight being delayed for 4 hours, so would not be able to start the trekking as per plan upon reaching Pokhara. Therefore, I got one extra day to relax myself physically and mentally. And unintentionally, found and taste a nice and yummy fried chicken wing for which I will never forget the taste and for sure not because of hunger.

For the 5 days trekking was awesome. Trekking in mountain at different altitude, there are lots of unpredictable eg: weather. You can experience from chill, cooling, freezing; wet, hot...muddy, rocky trail... crossing few suspension bridge, the fun part would be...take off your muddy boot, smelly socks and hanging on your hand to cross the stream with bare foot, where the water above ankle high. Fortunate the water not about waist high, then have to dry ourselves at the road side :). The experience is very difficult to express in word, should at least experience it personally once in life time as the trekking in Nepal different from another country, and has to be accompanied with a guide who are patience and exprience. I am glad that Kripa has arranged an experience and patience guide throughout my whole trip. I will always recommend him, Suman, who would like to go on trekking, I hope in future he can bring more sense of humour during long trip.

This trip I have experience freezing at the peak; Muldai & Poon Hill with 2 legs, super hot at the flat plain land at Lumbini. Vespa ride to 3 places, unfortunately most has been ruined during earthquake and yet being fully "restored". Thanks to the village has done their best to preserved all the historical icon, it really benefited the generation as well as foreigner like me. And thanks to Vespa guide whom bring me to visit these 3 places and try nice local Newari food.

Nepal really has it own charm, it attracted me to come back again and again.

Thank you Kripa for planning this awesome trip for me and also visit to Kopan Monastry. Thanks friend help me to fill up all the permit documents (big Hi). Hope to visit Nepal again in near future soon.

Kripa Sunuwar, local specialist, responded to this review:

I look forward to planning your next trip soon. Thanks for all of your love and appreciation to us and our staffs.

5 days in nepal: 5 great itineraries, Nepal - Sep 16 - Sep 21, 2018

Traveler: Marije d. - Local specialist: Amanda Delecca

The overall experuence was exactly what we hoped for.
Nice people, flexible when plans changed and had a lot to tell about places we visited.
We have done only 5,5 days in nepal, kthmandu to pokhara and some rafting in between an staying in a fantastisch riverside camp.
All perfectly arranged.
My only point of comment would be that the drive to and from the Famous Farm (which was fantastic to stay btw) was too long (due to the road conditions) related to the total time we where in Nepal.
Besides that, all perfect!

Erin, our local specialist, was really great helping us prepare for the trip, to the point that she helped us booking bus tickets between Kathmandu and Pokhara as well as researching various other things that we were asking about prior to arrival.

We initially booked a 5 day trek in the Annapurna range, but as our prior travels went on we realised that a 4 day trek suited our schedule better - Erin sorted this for us as well, and put together a more compact plan with our guide Naresh that meant we could cover the same trek in a day less.

The specific trek was the Mulde/Muldai/Muldei Peak and Poon Hill trek, with a maximum altitude of about 3600m, starting at around 1700m and ending at around 1500m. Apart from the unfortunate cloudy weather due to monsoon season, we got two clear magnificent sunrises, and if the weather had been clear on the second evening; a sunset as well at 3600m. We really had some great views, and an overall great experience, and just the view the first morning made our 6 week travel in India and Nepal worth it. Naresh, our guide, was incredibly nice, helpful and considerate, and helped us with everything from pointing out the mountain peak names to leech-protection, getting drinking water, and drying clothes in the tea houses.

I unfortunately reacted badly to the rapid increase in altitude and didn't feel too well the second and third day, but Naresh did everything in his power, including swapping backpacks with me, to take some of the strain off, as well as put the tempo down. This trek should be doable without any significant prevention of altitude sickness, and my partner was fine apart from slight loss of appetite, but some tablets for AMS could be useful, and make sure to communicate with you guide so he/she is aware, as well as be aware of the symptoms and react early if possible if any symptoms develop.

I would definitely do this trek again - next, maybe a slightly longer one to the Annapurna Base Camp. If you are inexperienced or new to the trekking aspects, or other aspects such as navigation etc (or just wanna enjoy doing the trek without planning it yourself), I would definitely recommend this way of booking.

Thank for a great time, kimkim, Erin and Naresh!

We only say 4 other trekkers the entire time, and were able to really experience true Nepalese culture. The trek was definitely challenging at points, but nothing we (moderately fit people) couldn't handle. The most difficult part of the trip was getting to the remote area of Nepal where our hiking began and ended. We ended up being stuck for a few days; however, Sonam and the responsible trekking crew pulled out all the stops and made sure we were on the first flight out.

If you want a real Nepal experience where you get to interact with local people and see some amazing sights do this trek!

Valerie, thanks a ton for your review. Glad it all went well, even though there were small changes required. Quite common in Nepal to be able to make last minute fine tuning of trips, and am glad it went on ok. We had a great trek in Nepal- we did a 6 day comfort Poonhill trek- and as it was monsoon season we had the mountains more or less for ourselves! Marie was super helpful with advise and helping us choose our trek. Our guide Daewon and porter was also super sweet. Would totally recommend!

Traveler: Esther P. - Local specialist: Amanda Delecca

Mingma and the porters were lovely and very helpful, and I was grateful to them for flicking leeches off my shoes! It was a good route with lots of different and pretty immediate scenery, even if it was too cloudy to see the mountains. I was happy with the level of difficulty of the trek. I loved the first tea house in Ghandruk. I was a bit disappointed with the lack of views but had plenty of warning that this could well be the case in monsoon season.

Amanda Delecca, local specialist, responded to this review:

Hey Esther, the views at the stop do make the effort of walking up hills feel more worth it, unfortunately the monsoon season is characterised by the clouds that like to hang around. Great to hear that otherwise you enjoyed the trail and short-distance scenery.

Many thanks for your review!

Cheers,
Amanda

Amanda, our contact in Kathmandu was faultless- giving us excellent recommendations for meals and providing us with a phone so we could contact her if we had any problems and then resolving any issues with incredible speed. We loved Nepal as much as when we last visited it nearly 20 years ago and now our 3 children love it as well. Thank you all so much.

Mads Mathiasen, local specialist, responded to this review:

Ask, I am so happy we have been part in making your 3 children fall in love with Nepal! Also nice to hear that you loved it as much this time as 20 years ago, so much has changed since then. I am glad you liked the place in Chitwan, I think it is amazing. We would love to see you back in Nepal, maybe try the Christmas holidays next time and see the super clear mountains views. Thanks, Mads

We had a wonderful experience in Nepal, and I can't say enough great things about Chhewang and Sonam from Responsible Treks. This was our first time to Nepal, and Chhewang was extremely helpful in designing the perfect itinerary for us. He assessed our capabilities and interests, and proposed several options. He was patient and responsive with our questions and flexible to meet our needs at every step.

We trekked the remote region of Nar and Phu, and then part of the Annapurna Circuit. We had a day in Kathmandu before and again after trekking. For us, this was the perfect balance of varied landscapes, authentic cultural experiences, and "off the beaten path" trekking. We were hesitant to visit during the monsoon, but would do so again in an instant. Many areas we trekked were in the "rain shadow" and so we had plenty of sun, in addition to enjoying the lush green landscape and "off season" quiet serenity this time of year.

Our guide, Sonam, is the best of the best. He took great care of us including getting us safely over two high mountain passes, taught us so much about the landscape and local culture, and made every day fun. He went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable, making tweaks to our itinerary based on how we were feeling. The trek was a great value and Sonam consistently looked out for us to ensure we had the best treatment at teahouses. My wife celebrated a birthday during our trek, and he worked with the locals to surprise her with a cake!

This was our first time using kimkim. The experience was wonderful, the fees were transparent and, most importantly, they connected us with an excellent local partner for our trip.

Chhewang Lama, local specialist, responded to this review:

Hi Chris and Sophia,

Thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed feedback. It was indeed pleasure hosting you both. It was our good karma to meet you though KimKim.

Great to hear that Sonam was super guide, he is still learning and will do even better. I shared your review with all of our office team and we are all inspired.

Once again! Many thanks for the honest review, looking forward to host your another adventure in the Himalayas, all the best!

Cheers,

Chhewang

Loved the trek so much! Didn’t really think about much before I go. Alex and Erin are very experienced in terms of giving good advice on the drier route during monsoon season and taking care of my arrival. Ngawang is such a experienced guide and he was very helpful along the trek. Food is very good and satisfying during the trip too ;)

Erin Green, local specialist, responded to this review:

So glad you had a great time, Lucia. Yes, even relatively last minute trips during monsoon season can be awesome! Hope to see you back here for another trek, and some more Nepali food :)

Our trip included a four-day trek from Jomsom - with an incredibly memorable flight to reach Jomsom - and a couple days of relaxation in Pokhara on the back end at a stunning property. It was a perfect balance of activity and relaxation. The whole trip was seamless thanks to the KimKim team and our excellent guide, Mingma. Having all of the logistical stress removed meant that we were able to fully enjoy the experience. The team even made sure that we got the most out of our layover in Kathmandu, arranging for us to be picked up and see some highlights of the city. We look forward to traveling with kimkim again in the future and have already recommended them to family and friends.

My guide was very friendly and helpful for my trekking. He organized well and take care of me well too as we travel together. Erin helped me a lot by providing some information about this whole trip as this is my time to come trekking in Nepal. Everything was excellent and the one thing I was impressed was to see the local people in Langtang who work hard to rebuild their villages destroyed by the earthquake in 2015.

Hi Bongsok! Thank you for the wonderful review. We're so glad you had a rewarding time on your trip here, and had a chance to experience the great rebuilding that's happened in Langtang. Happy future trekking, and hope to see you back in Nepal!

The planning was very helpful and my guide, Ngawang Sherpa, was great. However I feel slightly deceived. My trip cost over $100USD per day, and I was assured that it would be just as expensive to do it on my own. However, I looked at prices while trekking and it would have cost me around $25 a day including my permits and transportation.
The trek was beautiful though and the experience was so memorable. I would definitely suggest to someone trekking in Annapurna to do it without a guide however, because you could save so much money.

Needless to say, you need a guide if you have never hiked or journeyed through Nepal before. It is not only essential for your safety, but also because local guides have immense amount of knowledge and insight about Nepal culture, people, language, and places. It really adds to the trip to have guide who can help show you these parts of Nepal as well.

Our six day trek was wonderful. Picky Peak gave us beautiful view of various mountain ranges, including Mount Everest. Naress, our guide, was absolutely wonderful in providing us with any assistance we needed (whether it be encouragement on long hiking days or making sure all of our lodging was warm and accommodating). We also enjoyed our porter, Mingma Sherpa, who taught us different words in the Sherpa language and took us around a monastery in Junbesi.

My only critique of the trip was feeling under prepared in terms of packing as my friend Rachel also expressed in her review. If you go during the rainy season, it is very cold at night, especially at high altitudes. Perhaps an area of improvement for KimKim could be more transparency in telling us to pack warmer clothes, a sleeping bag, and other necessities.

Overall though, excellent company, guide, porter, and experience. Would certainly recommend to anyone who has limited time but wants to explore Nepal!

Amanda Delecca, local specialist, responded to this review:

Hey Kelly, thanks for taking the time to leave a thorough review, great to hear that you had the support you needed along the way from Naresh and Mingma. Pikey Peak is a stunning area and great that you got some insight into 'real' Nepal, too.
It certainly can get cold at night when you're at altitude or in a blustery place like Pikey Peak and we do provide a full packing list, sounds like you guys missed it in the chat.
We would love to see you back again, maybe a trek that goes a little higher next time? :)

Thanks again,
Amanda

I inquired on a whim just to ask a few questions and Mads and Amanda took full reigns to cater the trip specifically for what we wanted to see, do, and experience all within our time frame. Their tips were very informative and helpful as well as prompt.

As for the actual trek, we got taxi pick up with our guide, Naress, on the first day and he accompanied us 24/7 after that. Naress was AMAZING. He cared for us on the 14 hour Jeep ride to Phaplu and made sure we knew what was going on. He always made sure we were fed, warm, and taking breaks to rest. His guidance was necessary and he taught us so much about Nepali culture. He also taught us plenty of Nepali phrases we could use to talk to the people we met at the tea houses. We also had a Sherpa, Mingmar Sherpa, who carried some of the luggage weight. GRATEFUL FOR THIS. My favorite town was Junbesi where we visited a monastery, but the highlight of the trip was seeing Everest from the top of Pikey Peak. A little cold due to the rainy season climate, but absolutely stunning.

On the jeep ride back, Naress purchased an extra seat so that we would have more room on the 8 hour ride home. This. was. life giving. THANK YOU NARESS!

Overall, the only thing I was confused by was the packing list. I don't remember being told we would have a Sherpa or that we should bring x, y, z warm gear. Maybe that could be an improvement?

I cannot thank the kimkim team enough for this trip. I have already recommended the company to 4 different friend groups heading to Nepal later this year, and I will certainly go back to kimkim if I return to Nepal one day.
Thank you and happy trails!

Amanda Delecca, local specialist, responded to this review:

Hi Rachel, thanks for your detailed review, we love the Pikey Peak area and showing people our favourite places around this incredible region. We are very glad to hear that Naresh was able to add so much to your trip.
You had initially asked about what gear to bring and the detailed gear list was sent over to you then, it sounds like Kripa and Naresh were able to clarify your questions about gear in your pre-trek briefing.
Let us know when you'll be back and Naresh will be happy to show you around somewhere else in Nepal!
Cheers,
Amanda

An amazing trek, short but challenging for us. Beautiful landscape and views of the Annapurnas. Our guide Tendu and porter Dorje were very patient and accommodating. We went in the off season, but were very lucky with both the weather and open tea houses. The only unfortunate thing was that the packing list provided to us was definitely optimized for the fall and winter, and we were way over-laden with warm clothes, rain gear and sleeping bags that we didn't need. Overall a fantastic experience from start to finish.

We gave an idea of things we would be interested in doing while in Nepal and Raj, Anura and team planned it out flawlessly. Our only complaint is that we didn't stay longer to experience more of what Nepal has to offer. We had no worries traveling while in the hands of this team. They transported us where we needed to go and we had a guide at each destination. We spent a day visiting the local temples, a couple days trekking through the mountains ending with camping out at a beach resort as we prepared for a white water rafting trip. But our last destination was one of my favorite stops, the city of Bhaktapur. We toured the city from sunup to sundown with our guide. I feel like we had a behind the scenes look at the culture and lifestyle and loved every minute of it. The guide was superb, the places he took us were amazing- I couldn't have asked for a better experience! Thank you Raj and team! This entire trip was definitely a memorable one thank to your team and I am definitely looking forward to visiting again one day!

Tashi and our guide Pemba welcomed us and personally I felt in good hands from the word Go. Our endearingly cheeky, lively, careful guide Pemba Sherpa and warm-natured assistant guide Dendi Sherpa took assiduous care of us on our fabulous 7-day trek, always observing how we were coping and adjusting pace or route accordingly and with respectful grace, shown clearly when one of our group unfortunately had a gastric reaction early on in the trip. They were always there, endlessly good-humoured and supportive. Pemba had to make some considered decisions on our return route, given road closure times due to the current massive Chinese road construction. Our two excellent, nimble porters were smiling and good-natured. We also appreciated the extra time Pemba took to guide us on our "free" day in Kathmandu at the end, when we were lucky enough to visit sites on Buddha's birthday. Although we were sad not to meet Ngima after all our communications with him, he had ensured we were well cared for in his absence (doing good works in his home village). Many thanks, NMMT.

Kunchok guided me through selecting a trek and preparing for it. He was responsive to every question and upfront with all the details we would need to know. He met us as we arrived at our hotel and ensured that we were briefed in person on the timeline and the details of the trek.
I had selected the short Dhampus Trek with my brother. Our guide in the mountains was Dawa. He was phenomenal—entirely professional and highly knowledgeable. And we felt as though he were a close friend by the end of the trek. He helped us navigate cultural nuances as well as fully explained all stretches of the trek to us. He left both of us wanting to return and trek again with him one day.
Rajive was our guide for a day in Kathmandu, and we were left feeling like we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. He asked us about our timeline and our interests, and then he made tailored suggestions to us that allowed us to see both the major Kathmandu sites as well as some off-the-beaten-path sites that allowed us to feel as though we’d been given a private view into the true vibe of that culturally rich city.
At an incredibly reasonable price, Responsible Treks seamlessly took us from A to Z along our trip, and left us feeling beyond satisfied. I highly recommend this team.

This was my second visit to Nepal and my second time using this company. Amanda and Tendu provided excellent service once again!!

I contacted Amanda to have her set up a tour for us on short notice. She was always quick to respond, friendly, accommodating and answered all of our questions. We did a three day trip through Pokhara, Dhampus and Bandipur, which would have been hard to do on our own. We stayed at fantastic guest houses and had some great views. Our guide Tendu was very knowledgeable and friendly. I will be coming back to Nepal and I will be using this company again!!

Hey Chris, it was great to have you back after your first trip earlier this year. Thanks for trusting us again with your travel arrangements with your colleagues, we just love showing people the places that we think are awesome.

Thanks and we look forward to seeing you again soon!

Amanda

While our experience leads us to believe that Ngima's company would be an amazing choice no matter what, we recommend that you request Ang gelu as your guide. Our porters Kima and Pemba were also incredible. Ngima also provided a great representative, Tashi, who met us at our hotel, briefed us before the trip, arranged transportation to and from the airport, and even helped to coordinate an additional trip to Bhaktapur after we finished trekking . Throughout the entire trip we felt like we were in knowledgeable and capable hands. If you are looking to trek in Nepal, we highly recommend using Nepal Myths and Mountain Trails.

I cannot say enough about the awesome Nepal trek we recently competed that was booked through KimKim with Responsible Treks. From our first interactions, KimKim identified the type of trip we were interested in, the specific dates we were available and matched us with a trekking company and a trek that fit our skill level and expectations.

The trip itself exceeded our expectations on all fronts. The communications we received via KimKim's platform helped us plan our trip, get a great sense of what to expect each day, and to pack accordingly. The information and communications we received on the front end alleviated any trip anxiety we may have had. Chhewang, our trip organizer with Responsible Treks, met us at the airport in Kathmandu and rode with us to our hotel where we met with our trek guide, Sonam. We discussed the trek and generally what to expect. Our trek started the next morning where we met our porter, Chhiring T. Over the course of our trek, whether in airports, check points, tea houses or lodges Sonam and Chhiring T took care of us and ensured we had the best trek possible. Upon our return to Kathmandu we met for dinner with our trip organizer Chhewang from Responsible Treks and our trekking crew for a traditional Nepalese dinner - an awesome ending to our trip. We were picked up the next day and escorted to the airport for our flights home.

Again, we had a great trip and trek and no detail was left to chance - the KimKim platform and team matched us up with exactly what we were looking for in a trip and Responsible Treks and their team took care of us and ensured our trip was a success.

We give KimKim and Responsible Treks 5 stars - and two thumbs up!!

Damber was quite possibly the best guide I could have asked for. He was considerate, extremely knowledgeable, caring and very entertaining. The journey was significantly easier under his care. Many fellow trekkers didn’t make it, or struggled intensely. I am convinced much of my journey was made easier based on following his very experienced advice. I strongly recommend both the site and Damber specifically. In spending the time and money to attempt to get to EBC, make the effort to get the best guide possible. Damber is it.

Very well organised trip with kimkim. During our hike we didnt see any other tourists so it felt really special walking there only with the guide and porter. Our guide Padam Paudel was very kind and told us a lot about Nepal and the local villages and the life there.

The lodges were perfect aswell. Nice beds and bathrooms with warm water. Also the food was good and the happy hour was included ;)

The views of the mountains were the best in the morning when the sky was clear. Incredible experience!

Upon arrival in the country, Kunchok met us at our hotel, he gave us an overview for the upcoming adventure and we were off to Pokhara the following day.
And let me tell you, everything for the next 5 days was very well taken care of, including us...we immensely enjoyed getting to know guide Rickjin and porter Kunchok! Even though the weather was a little overcast, these guys made up for the lack of sunshine! Poonhill trek has a good variety of geography, you see local villages, lush jungle and majestic mountains. The city guide Rajive was very knowledgeable and informative. The Inn Patan was a great place to stay.

The trek was just the right level for us. It stretched us. OK some basic teahouses, but some pretty good ones too, and the views, unbelievable. Our guide on the trek, Suman, was a guide, a butler sorting out food orders etc and a guardian angel keeping an eye on us at all times. Suman and our porters, Manoj and Laxman, became part of our family. They were suoerb and great company.

The pavilions in Pokhara is a fantastic hotel to relax in. Then Chitwan. The Baraha Jungle resort is luxurious but you must go to Tiger tops and be with the elephants.

Finally I must mention Raj, the office manager. He made sure the trip worked. He seemed to have a sixth sense and once when one of our party had to get a doctor within minutes. he phoned me up to check all was OK. How he knew I don’t know as we did not tell him. Constantly checking in the background I guess. Perfect as we did not want to be on an over organised trip but were glad of his quiet efficient organisation.

Perfect trip. I highly recommend Mads and his team to you if you are going to Nepal.

Hi Tashi and Prajwol,

Sorry I've taken so long to review but I was thinking it over and didn't want to write exactly how I was feeling at the time. I'm going to just give a breakdown of my experiences on the trip you planned for me.

Day 1- the touring day.

The guide was very knowledgeable and he made the whole experience quite pleasant for my friend and me. We do recommend using him in the future. However, there were two situations where we felt VERY uncomfortable. I had been feeling off about it and when I asked my friend she said she also felt the same. It sort of felt like our guide had made prior deals to try to force us into spending more money than we wanted to. First time we felt this way was when we stopped for lunch in the Square. Our guide took us to an EXTREMELY expensive restaurant, where the food was VERY average. In fact it might have been the worst food I had during my entire 17 days in Nepal, and yet it cost more than double the meals I had in Thamel. When I went to ask why my food was taking so long to arrive (my friend's food had arrived about 15 minutes before mine) I found our guide lounging with the owners as if they were friends. When he saw me he got up very quickly as if he was trying to hide his affiliations. This is when I got very suspicious. I might be wrong but my friend felt the same way.

The second time was when we were going through the old city and we stopped outside an art school. He told us a bit of its history and ASKED us if we wanted to go in to see the artworks. We, of course, said yes. When we got to the top one of the masters was patiently waiting for us and immediately started giving us a tour of the art. This gave us more suspicions because it was DEFINITELY prearranged. Which means either I had PAID for this tour (in which case I don't understand why our guide asked if we wanted to go in), or else our guide had organized it. When the tour ended the master painter became VERY forceful about us buying art. He kept repeating that it was our choice but he did it in such as way that make us feel we didn't actually have a choice. We told him multiple times that we didn't have money and they kept in forcing the subject and came up with alternative ways for us to buy (eg they charging our hotels or the guide and us paying them back). My friend even mentioned how uncomfortable they made her feel.

I might obviously be wrong about the guide trying to scam us a little, but either way we learnt a lot about the history of Nepal from him so we enjoyed that.
If I am wrong about the guide, and he took us to such an expensive restaurant as it was part of the normal program then I'm more disappointed in you guys as I told you repeatedly that I didn't have a lot of money as I'm a student so I definitely didn't appreciate the poor planning there.

The driver for day 1 was really professional, I really recommend him for future use.

Day 2 and 3- trekking.
This was my biggest disappointment for my entire trip to Nepal. The first day of trekking was better than the second. It went through the forests and several farms so I definitely enjoyed that. It was only a little underwhelming but I was expecting the second day to be better so at the time I was happy. The second day to Nagorkot was VERY VERY disappointing. So much so that I was very irritated with whomever chose this route for me. There was so much construction the ENTIRE 7 or 8 hours, and on top of that I'm sure 95% of the trip was on the road. This isn't what I wanted at all, in fact it might have been the exact opposite of what I wanted. Perhaps you weren't completely aware of this but that just shows poor planning, because it was not a good experience. I actually felt like I wasted one of my few days left in Nepal because of this last trekking day.

My guide Pemba was good. He gave me space to just be by myself which is what I wanted, and he answered my questions whenever I had them. My conversations with him left a bit to be desired but that might have been my fault since I had had little sleep the night before so I didn't have the energy for much conversation. The lodge and guesthouse you booked for me were very disappointing as well. I understand the lodge being how it was but I expected way more from the guest house.

The driving that got me to the trekking start was fine. The driver that took me from Nagorkot to the water rafting was NOT good. But my experience with him was very likely Pemba's fault. This is the only thing I did NOT like about Pemba- he made me worry unnecessarily. The night of day 3 he told me that breakfast will be at 6 and then we will leave for 6.30 as it will take us long to get to the water rafting. He said it will be tight but we should make it on time. When I came for breakfast the next morning at 6.05 my breakfast hadn't even been made yet and Pemba started reprimanding me on my bad time. He didn't outright say it but he basically said "if you miss your river rafting then this is clearly not my fault". This honestly made me very irritated with him. He made me feel like I was a child who had no sense of responsibility. I finished eating at 6.15 and when I said I'm going to brush my teeth and then we can go he again made a comment that if we late it is my fault not his. I really didn't appreciate it. We left at 6.20 (10 minutes BEFORE he said we needed to leave) and he again made a comment about how we might miss the river rafting. So of course I worried. This is where I really started to dislike my driver that took us to the river rafting. Within the first 20 minutes he pulled us over so he could speak on the phone to his family. Normally I wouldn't have minded but Pemba got the idea that we were going to be late into my head so I was worried. After about 5 min we started again. Within 10 min he pulled us over again to phone someone else. He did this a third time. After an hour he pulled us off again so he could go to the toilet (which he should have done before we left if we had such a tight schedule). We ended up arriving over an hour BEFORE it started so all my worrying caused my Pemba was for nothing.

Other than this though, Pemba was great. He was well mannered and was always trying to make me more comfortable (whether it be him carrying my sleeping bag, or making sure my food arrived and that I had enough of it, or making sure my drinks were cold). So because of this I still highly recommend him for future use because even though I very much disliked the trekking route, he made it better.

Day 4- white river rafting.
This was by far my most memorable activity in Nepal. I had an absolutely incredible time. I highly recommend it for future suggestions to tourists. Traveling through the valleys was incredible and we saw monkeys and loads of mountain ranges. Was definitely a highlight for me.

I honestly found my experiences unusual because we had spoken at such great length about what I was wanting and not wanting. I'm not sure if I will use KimKim again in the future. You were UNREASONABLY expensive. I saw the prices for the lodges and guest houses, for my breakfast/lunch/dinner during the trekking, for the river rafting and for guided tours. What I didn't see was what the price for private cars was but I assumed it was between 5000 rupees and 10000 rupees per day. Even with this by my calculations you overcharged me by about 25 000 rupees. Plus I still had to pay tips which came to another 7000 rupees. Plus on top of this the reason you told me that you couldn't provide prices to me was because you were receiving special DISCOUNTS from the companies, so the trip should have been even cheaper. I honestly felt very cheated, whether it was because of poor planning or else you just taking advantage of my ignorance in prices, either way I didn't appreciate it.

I did like the fact that you came to meet me in person to introduce the guides etc. It was professional and I appreciated it. But that courtesy wasn't enough to fix it all.

Overall I'd give a 6/10 stars for the trip, but it is only so high because of how much I enjoyed the river rafting.

Hi Kyle,

Thank you very much for sharing your experience and your true feeling from this trip. Glad to know that you really enjoyed touring Kathmandu valley and the rafting trip organized. We did our best to provide the best experience in the given trip budget as the trip cost for a solo traveler is always expensive due to lack of cost-sharing benefit among the travelers. But your trip was priced in a very reasonable manner including all government tax and 13% VAT. We kept our service charge as low as possible to earn a friend and I think some acts of freelancing guides (if they mean it) should not affect our relationship.

Normally, the tour guides are professionals and take their clients to the best and clean restaurants. Taste of food is a matter of preference in my view. It's sad to know that you were pushed to purchase by the salesman but it's their nature to make sales so far as I guess. So, please don't get disappointed with it as it's your decision which will be an ultimate decision.

And regarding trek, Sundarijal to Chisapani was a trek done off the road and it's true that lodges are just basic there. Sometimes it's hard to find a room too if our guides had no good rapport among the lodge owners. And for Nagarkot, it's just a day hike (hike refers to walking on man-made trails/road) and we have mentioned the word hike too while we were planning so far as I know. Sorry that the road widening and construction work got started about which we too were not aware of. Simply, no one will go check the route every time the trip starts, isn't it? Most of the trips are based on previous experience.

For the fourth day, I hope the guide had informed you the departing time a day before but since you did not have much conversation with him, the information should have missed making it a rush hour next morning. FYI, we do not prior book the lodges/ guesthouses for the trip. It's booked by your guide depending on your tentative destination reached that day. The accommodation is arranged in the best available lodge. May is a season time which must have made other better lodges already occupied being Nagarkot a top destination for International and domestic tourists. Please note that sometimes, domestic tourists pay a much better price for good services. So, hotel owners won't keep spare rooms for international tourists in a hope to get a possible booking. Moreover, you were not charged to be accommodated in the high-end lodge, Kyle. I sincerely expect your consideration here as such accommodation trips easily cross $650 price range.

But I am glad that you were honest on sharing your experience and we will definitely consult with guides and request them to consult with the travelers clearly about their expectations and budget constraints for lunch/ shopping. It's just some misunderstandings created otherwise we rarely get even 4 stars on our service instead of 5. You can expect much better from us in your next trip in near future.

Best wishes,

Prajwol Shrestha

Organizing and booking through Kimkim was easy and fast. I only contacted them online 5days before my travel and it was still possible to have an amazing 4day trip on the Gandruk trek! The journey was customized to my needs and I had a wonderful guide and porter. I just had to follow them and everything was taken care of. I had a lot of time to enjoy the mountains and the beautiful villages and did not have to worry about anything. Just perfect! The tea houses we stayed in were simple, but cosy and there was all I needed. Honestly a truly amazing experience and good value for money!

The monastery had us mesmerised and we've since learnt a lot more about Bhuddism. The only tip I have for future treks is to have one rest day in Namobhuddha so you can fully enjoy the resort as well.

Bhaktapur took us by surprise entirely - we weren't expecting such an ancient, artistic town on the outskirts of Khatmandu! Pratiksha is a very warm, smiley, amicable person with huge amounts of knowledge on the place. We really respect her passion and devotion to her country and religion and thoroughly enjoyed our city tours with her.

After a week back in the Netherlands I look back after a huge experience in the Himalayas.
Supported by a special team with Raj and Anura, who provided me with information from the booking of the trip, I was received in Kathamandu with a greeting dinner and an afternoon where I got all the explanation and what my responsibilities are during the 19-day trek . Especially because I am no longer one of the youngest (69 years), Raj has gone into great depths about pulling at high altitudes. The meeting with Indra my guide was very cordial and familiar. This all supported fine for the coming trek. Planned was a 19 days trek over the 3 passes, but after the stage from Namche to Thame I got a headache, necessarily a day waited but from Thame to Lumden happened exactly the same. Switched to drink a lot of water and use Diamox and of course I had to wait another day, I was rid of the headache and I could bridge the first pass Renjo La. Great view my first goal was achieved, but I also realized that I was against my physical limit and in consultation with my guide we changed the program and left Everest BC behind and opted for Ama Dablam base camp and Dingboche attempt to see the Makalu. Unfortunately, it got worse in the last week and was hardly visible.
My advice if you like my age and you want something seen from the Himalaya Asia choose Raj and Anura, everything is negotiable and the team is very correct and when you have Indra as guide your are a happy man.

Raj Gyawali, local specialist, responded to this review:

Paul, it was a real pleasure to design and conduct this trip for you, and me and Anura and the rest of the team took great joy in seeing your enthusiasm, and your easy going nature.

I am sorry that altitude made it a bit more complicated up in the mountains, but glad that you adjusted to it, and re-designed the itinerary up in the field and fit it to your requirements.

Flexibility is the essence of travel, in our opinion, and that makes great experiences and I am glad it did for you!

Thanks and hopefully we will see you again in the Nepal mountains!

Upper mustang and abc, Nepal - Mar 30 - May 1, 2018

Traveler: Dennis A. - Local specialist: Amanda Delecca

Both the Upper Mustang Valley trek and the Annapurna Base Camp trek were fantastic and both so very different. Our guide, Pemba, was awesome and really went out of his way to make things as easy as possible for us. Would definitely recommend him, and our porter, Amar, was also great. We met some fantastic people, both local and trekkers on these trips and had lots of laughs with them. Every day was different and every day was memorable. It is very hard to pin point any particular day, but we'll never forget the view when we got to Annapurna Base Camp.

Amanda Delecca, local specialist, responded to this review:

Thanks for the review Dennis, it was such a pleasure to meet you both in Kathmandu and show you around Thamel a little. You chose a couple of great treks that showcase some of the incredible diversity in Nepal, you must be due for a 'lowlands' tour next time for yet another perspective on Nepal :)

Until next time,

I can not say enough how amazing our experience was with Kimkim. I worked wih a Amanda who customized our trip to fit the very limited time we had in Nepal. We did a 3 day trip and were able to hike and explore the Kathmandu area which would have been very difficult to do on our own. We had a hiking guide and a city guide and both were amazing, knowledgadble and super friendly. We loved the hotels Amanda reserved for us. The Namo Buddha Resort was beautiful and very peaceful. If and when I go back to Nepal I will use this company. I highly recommend them!

Amanda Delecca, local specialist, responded to this review:

Hey Jess, thanks for your review, great to hear that you enjoyed the unique accommodations. It was great to have Chris back in Kathmandu already after your first trip, hopefully we'll be seeing you again, too!

Upon arriving in Kathmandu we had the opportunity to meet with both Amanda and our guide Chhiring and were given a full briefing of the itinerary prior to the start of the Trek. Amanda also took the time to meet with us at our hotel after the trek to debrief about our trip. Everything was very well planned and organized.

We had a wonderful experience throughout the trek enjoying the spectacular scenery and observing the village life along the way. Our guide Chhiring, and porter Santa, were both extremely attentive, professional and respectful. We felt well taken care of and are grateful to have had them accompany us on our trek. In addition, Chhiring's knowledge and experience provided us with detailed insight into the local culture and trekking routes through the Himalayas.
From start to finish we received great service that surpassed our expectations! Thank you to all involved for making this a trip to remember! Tina & Jason

Sadly, the weather was much colder than predicted which impacted us on the last few days. The teahouse in Panbouche was below standard and the ownership seemed indifferent to the comfort of their guests. Luckily the next day Tendu had arranged for an excellent teahouse in Phortse - which was the best one we stayed at.
I would highly recommend that portion of the trek (Panbouche - Phortse) - it was the highlight of the trek.

We wanted a hassle-free trip and Raj and his team had certainly delivered. Everything was executed as communicated ahead of time with positive surprises threw in here and there. One certainly has to pay for this kind of service but it's nice that the result is as advertised. We had a short and easy trip and would really love to go back to Nepal to explore her natural beauty in the future.

Long, thanks for the wonderful review. Its always a joy to know that our service has gone beyond expectations, specially with the little surprises... this is exactly the slot where we want to fit in, and very happy to know that its right there.

Hope to see you back in Nepal someday!

I was almost virtually carried down the mountain a couple of times with my bad knees. I looked forward to their cups of tea to warm us up. The accommodation we stayed in varied from Ok to terrific, but the families were always friendly & inviting. The toilets were a bit difficult for me with my knees 7 took a bit getting used to. We were fed lots & I loved the food. The trail was difficult at times but we loved it. Seeing Everest for the first time was amazing. Walking past Glaciers & seeing the Rhodedemdrum Forest was beautiful. People said Namaste with a smile wherever we went.
We had such a good time travelling together for the 10 days & I would recommend it to anyone thinking of going.

I hope the fond memories of Nepal live on for a long time, I'm sure you've all got a tale or two to tell :)

With five fabulous (& strong!) porters, we trekked for 10 days on a community trail in the lower Everest region. When the weather hindered our views, Mingmar made changes to our route to make sure we did not go away disappointed-and we didn't! This was an experience we will never forget, made super easy by Amanda & her crew who had absolutely everything covered ... even a surprise birthday cake for my niece on the day we arrived! I Highly recommend these guys.

Based on the descriptions on the site (and research I did online), I was under the impression I would be trekking between quiet hillside villages, off the beaten path, near mountains. This was not the case. While Rishi made every effort to take alternative routes that took us off main roads, most of the trek was in earshot of bus and truck horns, loud music, and general city life. I wish kimkim had been upfront about the type of trek this was and had more accurate descriptions of where I would be trekking (ie, between cities, on roads). I would not recommend this trek to anyone interested in a peaceful trek through the mountains or countryside.

In addition, while I walk fast, I thought the trekking time estimates were really off. One day, the trekking time was listed as 5 hours, but I completed the distance in 2.5. Adding distance to the descriptions would be helpful.

My family and I had a great time on the Panchese trek. Kripa was able to adjust our trip to ad 1 more day. This made it easier for the 2 kids ( 3 and 6). The first two days were a little long for the 6 year old but she made it and did an excellent job. Chhepaul was and outstanding guide who showed patience and bonded with the kids. He was able to customize a basket to carry the 3 year old. The porter ( Mime? ) was awesome with the kids especially the 3 year old. There was a language barrier but I thing they both enjoyed each other’s company
Thanks 🙏

They were even in the kitchen preparing our meals when the cook had a day off! They were also very helpful while walking especially on the pass day coming down Nurbu was always right there if we fell over or making sure it was safe! Most of the guest houses and food was great just the night before the pass when we were in tents was a hard night but I don't think that will change. The scenery varied a lot which was great. Overall we had an amazing time and will never forget it!! If we decide to do another trek we would definitely want the same guides and porters again!! Thank you!

After our trek we went down to Chitwan national park and did a home stay in the Tharu village. This was so awesome!! Really grassroots but the best decision! Right from the beginning we were totally immersed in the culture. The village activities were so much fun! We felt like part of the family! Everyone was so friendly! The meals were delicious and very fresh! This is something I would highly recommend for people to do, even families because all of the kids would play together. I really cannot put into words this experience. Sukram did a great job of organising everything and making sure we were looked after.

The platform provided by Kimkim is innovative in its simplicity and ease of use. We were immediately linked to a local expert Amanda who put together the trip for us. With patience and enthusiasm, she tailored the trip to our needs and wishes. In the end we had the perfect mix of local culture, sightseeing and relaxing. Babu is a professional and safe driver and was always on time and helping us with our bags. Our trip was truly amazing! We saw so much of Nepal and its people. Amanda was truly wonderful in crafting an experience that perfectly incorporated our adventurous spirits, need for a little rest and relaxation, our want to be immersed in the local culture and excitement about visiting a new country. She was quick to respond to all my concerns and questions during our planning process, prior to our travel dates and during our trip. She was able to make adjustments to our itinerary of the fly without hesitation.
All of the guides were incredibly knowledgeable, patient, polite and eager to share their culture with us. Amanda arranged drivers, pick-ups, guides, hotel stays, a trekking itinerary, tea house stays, meals, sight seeing suggestions, in-country flight tickets and more. We had no worries at all and felt safe every step of the way.
We arrived in Kathmandu, were picked up and brought to the Hotel Manaslu - very nice, clean with modern bathroom and breakfast was provided. After a brief rest our guide picked us up and took us on a walking tour of Thamel and other sites in the area. We even got a very rare view of the Kathmandu Kumari coming out of her house to attend a celebration. We stayed in the Thamel area and had dinner before walking back to our hotel. The following day our same guide picked us up with a driver and we toured UNESCO sites and more in the city and Patan.
We trekked for the next three and a half days, staying in tea houses along the way to Pikey Peak. It was a little disappointing that it never really cleared up, therefore we didn't get a clear view of the Himalaya mountain range. The trekking was very hard and technical (we bit off a bit more than we could chew but our guide Reeche (I'm sure I didn't spell that right) was amazing. The mountains were so lovely Its hard to describe. My suggestion regarding the trekking would be to get more detailed information as to the difficulty and technical aspects of the trek. We were not prepared for the very long days and technical aspects of the trails.
We spent a full day rest at the Panorama Charikot resort after trekking. Wonderful, wonderful place with great views and amazing staff. Food was very good.
The only hiccup of the trip was the horrible jeep ride from Charikot to Namobudda monastery. It was extremely terrible roads and took 7 hours to get to the monastery. The trip was only suppose to take half that time. Our driver didn't speak English so it was hard to know what was happening along the way. We loved the monastery but probably would have passed had we know how long of a jeep ride it was to get to it.
Off to Bhaktapur were we stayed at the Milla Guesthouse. I can't say enough about this beautiful boutique hotel in the heart of the city. Its an oasis and the breakfast on the roof terrace was the best we had on our trip. Our guide and driver took us to all the heritage and culture sites in the area and well has some shopping at various artisan places.
Next to the Chitwan Jungle were we stayed at the Jungle View Resort. We had a private bungalow with lovely views of the Rapti River were Rhinos freely roam. The field guides were knowledgeable and able to answer all our questions. We took an elephant safari ride, canoe ride and visit to the crocodile breeding reserve and jeep safari. The animals were a site to see; rhinos, sloth bear, bison, wild peacock, various deer, crocodiles and many birds
Lastly on to Patan where we stayed at The Inn- Patan. Amazing old Newari home redone into a lovely boutique hotel with a courtyard that reminded me of Italy. The original wood carving throughout was stunning. Great service and food in the heart of the city but yet quiet. We were lucky to get a large room with a small balcony overlooking the courtyard.
We ended our trip with a flight around Mt. Everest. Again, it wasn't super clear but we were able to the see the peaks and Everest. It was a pleasant end to our trip.
Overall, it was an amazing trip and I would highly recommend Amanda, KimKim and Himalayan Adventure travels and tours.

Hi Jill, thanks so much for your review. While the weather wasn't great when you were here, hopefully you were able to squeeze in enough the mountain views that your trip was all about. Lots of ups and down on your trip, I'm glad we were able to modify things along the way to suit your needs, such as the extra night at the lovely Panorama Resort in Charikot.

The mountains are always here for next time! ;)

The porters were all amazing and incredibly helpful, even with/ without the luggage being carried.

Hi Farhan, great to hear that Gelu and the crew helped you have such a great trip! We think they're pretty awesome and do an excellent job in the mountains, so hearing that from you after your 2 weeks together is fantastic. Great job on pushing through the trek with your knee issues, that's no mean feat!!

Thanks for your review, Gelu and your porters will no doubt be very happy to hear your feedback.

Booking our trip on kimkim was extremely simple and convenient. We were connected to Ngima right away, and he was professional and attentive all the way through. Everything that we experienced prior to the trip was easy, smooth, and enjoyable.

The trip itself was rather disappointing because our guide failed time and time again to do his job properly. He seemed entirely unfamiliar with the region of Nepal that we trekked through and depended on our porter to do a number of things that he should have been able to do: lead us on our walks, correctly identify and name the mountains we saw, get us to the right tea houses at the end of each day, etc. Certainly we felt like we had been ripped off given the amount of money that we'd paid for our guide's expertise, but the bigger problem was that his incompetence led to some uncomfortable and frustrating problems -- one of them being a rather serious problem when he'd failed to inform us that there were no bottles of water for sale in the whole Ghorepani region (an endeavor to cut down on plastic waste). Had our guide briefed us on this, we could have purchased bottles of water on our way to Ghorepani, or at the very least, we would have known to save our empty bottles to fill up with filtered water. However, we were never advised on this matter, so we simply threw away our bottles assuming we'd be able to buy more. Needless to say, we felt outraged and panicked when we realized that we hadn't been sufficiently briefed, and that we didn't have any bottles for collecting water to get through the evening and the next day's walk. This made it crystal clear that our guide hadn't done his "homework" to prepare for a trek in a part of Nepal that he was unfamiliar with. (We also felt that Ngima should have advised us about the water situation in Ghorepani. The packing list that he shared did not indicate reusable water bottles as a must. It noted that we'd be able to buy bottles of water along the way, which led us to believe that there was no need to bring our own bottles at all. Given the situation at Ghorepani, Ngima really should have equipped us with better advice.)

There was one other incident concerning our guide that really frustrated and disappointed us. He had arranged to pick us up at our hotel in Pokhara at 2:00PM to take us to the airport for our 3:15PM flight to Kathmandu. We waited 30 minutes for his arrival, and then arranged our own ride to the airport when he still hadn't shown up by 2:30PM. We were terribly anxious for that whole half hour as we didn't want to miss the flight back to Kathmandu since we had an international flight to jump on from there. It was bad enough that we had to arrange and pay for transportation that the trip provider should have covered (we found this truly outrageous), but we really couldn't believe how irresponsible our guide had been. A guide should never make his clients feel so worried.

All in all, we are shocked and disappointed that this was the experience we paid for. In truth, we would like to be refunded the money that we paid to have a guide.

Needless to say, we cannot recommend Ngima's company, Nepal Myths and Mountain Trails.

Ngima Dorji Sherpa, local specialist, responded to this review:

Dear Linda,

I am so sorry to read that you had such bad experience traveling with us. But I am also equally surprised that you complained me nothing about guide's service when we met in Kathmandu after you return from your trek and asked you how your trip was. And now, suddenly all your experience flooded back in your review with a refund of guide fee.

Please allow me to clarify the situation. I just completed meeting with your guide to have a talk about the issue and now I would like to explain what did happen on the trek after the inquiry meeting held with the guide.

According to your guide, who is one of the experienced and good guides of our company, performed his best to guide your trip. Most of the times, guide and porters co-ordinate with each other during the trip for service arrangements and easy workflow during the trip. I asked him about the mountains seen from Ghorepani and Khopra Ridge just to cross check his knowledge and he did answer correctly. If you ask other guides for the information instead of asking your guide and if they mislead you with wrong information about the mountains seen from the very particular area, I am sorry but it is wrong to say that your guide had no knowledge at all. You should have trusted your guide rather than trusting some random guides or people you met on the way. If he knows the names and answers me correctly then we can assume that he will definitely deliver the same information to you too.

Regarding, drinking water issue in Ghorepani, your guide suggested you carry multiple numbers of water bottles and so you did accordingly. But we too were totally unaware of the new rule on effect from Tirkhedhunga to Ghorepani area which was regulated recently. It's true that now travelers cannot purchase 1L water bottles but instead they can fill up water in their bottles from 20L jars from the lodge. And to address this issue, your guide purchased two reusable water bottles out of the trek budget which was just allocated for your trek accommodation, lunch, dinner and tea/coffee. He did not even claim for reimbursement of the price. And in addition, he suggested you fill up only boiled water instead of filling water from the jar just to avoid any water-related health issue to you. I think blaming guides expertise for suddenly changed rule in the certain area does not make sense at all. It's the responsibility of travelers to coordinate with the guide to cope with the prevailing rules and enjoy the trip rather than getting disappointed. Had I known earlier about the water bottle issue in Tirkhedhunga to Ghorepani area, I would have suggested you purchase water bottle in Kathmandu which was previously not needed.

Regarding, the flight issue, we had arranged your flight together with your guide. This is an expensive option to choose over transporting guides by local bus but we thought on your comfort in case the flight gets delayed or canceled due to weather problems or any unseen issues. And exactly that happened. Your flight got delayed by around half an hour and your guide re-confirmed your ticket with the new time schedule. He informed that he would pick you up at 2.30 pm at your hotel instead of going airport early and staying idle so that you will have slightly more time to enjoy Pokhara. Your guide reached hotel just a few minutes later after you left to the airport. I think you should have considered waiting few more minutes as missing your flight means missing his flight too and he should report to our office that day anyhow if the flight was operating. Point to be noted is that your guide was staying in another hotel as your Pokhara hotel don't provide guide room if it's directly booked by clients.

In a nutshell, if you were that much disappointed with guide's service that it compelled you to ask for a refund for what you paid for having a guide, why did you tip your guide with around USD 110.00? As usually tipping is done at last after completion of trek depending on your satisfaction with the services provided to you, we can say that you were happy with the trip.

We would love to hear you say in our email: info@nepalmountaintrails.com

Best wishes,

Ngima and whole NMMT family.

All his staff from his fully certified and experienced guides and porters to his person taxi/driving staff for airport pick ups and drops offs are very hard working and are very dedicated to catering to any and all needs you may have and do it with full smiles. Everything about this company is above and beyond expectations.

Our trekking and mountain climb trip to Mera Peak was a complete pleasure in every aspect. Not to mention our Guide Ang-Gelu Sherpa, was the only guide able to get his clients to the summit and back of Mera Peak saftely in the face of a week of bad weather on the mountain. He along with our high alttitude porters (Dawa Sherpa and Kunga) were able to successfully and in a very short weather window of 4 hours get us to the top with out any set backs.

I would highly reccomend anyone wanting to trek or climb in Nepal to book with this company. Heard soo many horry stories from other clients during this trip about their guiding companies and staff. I will definately be back to Nepal again for more climbing and will be booking again with Nigma Dorje Sherpa. Thanks soo much to everyone at Nepal Myths and Trails for a 100% successful expedition!!!

As planning became reality, my friends and I spent 3 days trekking east of Kathmandu through quaint villages and beautiful steppes from Dhulikhel to Panauti. After our trek, we were able to enjoy a few days in Kathmandu exploring. One of Amanda's recommendations was a highlight and a visit I won't soon forget - Pashupatinath, a Hindu crematorium. In a place surrounded by death, there is so much life as well, and in a way that I never imagined. As an American, it really opened my eyes to a different culture and perspective.

Chhiring provided us with a lot of commentary about the places, people, and social and cultural influences both past and present. Visiting the villages of Nar and Phu, particularly when there were very few other trekkers, was a remarkable experience but of course the stunning scenery the entire way, was the highlight. When it snowed heavily the night before we were to ascend and cross the Kangla Pass, we were prepared to turn back but Chhiring, having monitored the situation, confidently led us on to the Pass. We often lost the path in the snow but Chhiring expertly picked a line and despite the oft times deep snow, we made it in good time and it was truly an exhilarating moment to reach the top!
Amanda was extremely informative and addressed all our concerns promptly. She was very helpful in both the initial planning stages and very amenable to any changes that we considered. Within hours of our initial inquiry, 4/6 weeks before the trip itself, we received a message from Ngima of Nepal Myths and Mountain Trails (NMMT), a Kathmandu based trekking company and from that moment we had direct contact with our tour operator right up until the day we traveled. Ngima listened to our requests and was able to create a bespoke itinerary matching our exact needs. He also provided sound advice in relation to equipment needed and any other questions we had, always responding pretty much immediately or within 24 hours (Max). We opted for the 8 day Khopra Danda Trek, via Ghandruk, asking NMMT to arrange everything from the airport pick up to the airport drop off, including, internal flights, accommodation, breakfast, lunch and dinner throughout. The cost for two people for 10 days seemed very reasonable.

The trek was everything we could have hoped for. We met Ngima and our guide Lahkpa Sherpa on day one and were given a full briefing of the itinerary prior to the start of the Trek. The next day we met our Assistant Guide Sonam Sherpa and the trek began shortly after. Throughout the trek, both Lakhpa and Sonam were extremely attentive, professional and respectful. Both guides (everyone we met along the way) were extremely kind, good natured and really did make us feel safe and welcome throughout. In addition, Lahkpa's knowledge and experience provided us with a detailed insight into Sherpa life, the local culture and trekking routes through the Himalayas. The scenery itself was spectacular, awe inspiring and majestic... We had never really seen anything quite like it before and our words and pictures could never really do it justice. We were also very lucky with the weather so i'm sure this did help with our experience, as did sticking to the local Dal Bhat for lunch and dinner to avoid any unwanted issues with the food.

Im not the kind of person to rate something 10/10 but im really struggling to find fault in anything we experienced during our trip, so we cannot thank the whole NMMT team enough, especially our two guides Lahkpa and Sonam.

If you are looking for a first class experience with an experienced team of people in the most incredible of locations, then look no further.

Traveler: Shanna R. - Local specialist: Kencho Ongdi

I really had a great experience in Nepal thanks to Kencho and the guide, Mr. Sherpa. It was really a sweet escape and I just had a blast. Everyone was so nice and helpful (starting from the pickup-drop), the resort was great, the track and tour was also memorable. I am so happy that the trip really captured what I want and I really look forward to be in Nepal again

Kencho Ongdi, local specialist, responded to this review:

I am really pleased you had a good time Shanna! I will personally let Mr. Sherpa know you enjoyed the days we planned. I am looking forward to hearing from you again :)

Summary

These guys know their stuff and can handle much more difficult challenges than ours.

Background

John and I started walking about a year ago and decided that it would be a good challenge to go trekking in Nepal. We are 67 and 64 years old and no previous trekking experience.

We first looked at holiday packages to Nepal, many are 14 day packages with 3-4 days trekking. That wasn’t enough trekking for us. Google search recommended using trekking companies being members of the Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal. Himalayan Trails is on the members list and are also a travel agency with excellent reviews on TripAdvisor. We live in Australia and Himalayan Trails has a sales representative from Australia, Amanda Delecca who handled our package.

Package Development

Contact and financial control was through the US online travel agency Kim Kim website portal. Amanda considered our inexperience, age and general health to design options for us. We chose the lower Annapurna Circuit. After several “conversations” through the Kim Kim portal we extended the 6 day loop to 8 days with a “rest” day at Ghorepani.

On the lead up to our trip Amanda communicated with us giving encouragement and sent helpful tip sheets for arrival and departure, what to pack, etc.

We wanted some cultural experience in our package. Our final itinerary is below.

Day 1. Arrive from Australia.

Day 2. Catch-up day in Kathmandu to meet Amanda and our trekking guide to help us get those last minute items - buy or hire.

Day 3. Sightseeing Pashupati Ceremonial area, Boudhanath Stupa and Swoyambhunath.

Amanda suggested we fly to Pokhara. The flight takes 25 minutes and saves a day on the road. So for about $200 we saved 2 full days travel.

Days 4-11. Fly to Pokhara and drive 45 minutes to start trekking at Phedi to Potana, trek to Landruk, to Grandruk, to Tadapani, to Ghorepani, up Poon Hill pre dawn and return to Ghorepani, to Tikhedhunga, to Hile (20 minutes to catch vehicle for 2 hour drive to Pokhara). This direction around the loop avoided the huge number of steps on the first day ensuring our continued enjoyment.

Day 12. After our trekking we had 2 nights in Pokhara, giving us one and a half days sightseeing on our own.

Day 13-15. On return to Kathmandu, Himalayan Trails met us at the airport and took us up to Namobuddha, the next day to Bhaktapur, then we were off.

The Actual Experience

I have travelled a little bit now and my wife and I often book a package at our country destination, such as in Jordan, or Morocco. It is always a consideration as to whether we would be met at the airport. In this case the guide and driver were there holding a sign so we knew we had “landed”.

From there everything went as promised. Guides and drivers were all very good, not rushed, knew their stuff, and were patient while I took photos, or had to repeat information. All vehicles were modern and clean in as new condition. We got the sense that they considered it a privilege to work for Himalayan Trails. We had a different guide and driver on our return, they knew their areas, being a Buddhist and living in Bhaktapur.

The most important people were our trekking guide and porter. Turns out they were both from the Sherpa region. Our guide “No-wun” was very experienced having been on mountaineering expeditions since he was 14, on Mt Everest and leading climbing expeditions on other mountains. No-wun checked everything we hired, bought, or used. On the trail he set a comfortable pace for us, rested us when needed, checked our rooms, monitored the kitchens, looked after all our needs.

Our porter “Peppi” walked with us following up behind, waiting when one of us stopped. Eventually Peppi joined with John and I singing on trail.

All four of us easily interacted like old friends.

Each day we trekked 3-5 hours with two 6 hour days. It meant we were checked into our tea house most days by 2pm avoiding the need to trek in the afternoon storms. In March the sun shines in the morning and clouds and rain come in the afternoon. We had plenty of time to dodge the hail and explore local villages on our own.

Accommodation Food and Facilities

The hotels and resorts in Kathmandu Valley and Pokhara were excellent. Our first was The Inn Patan right next to the central square. It was originally a large family home. So convenient to historic sites. John and I walked around at dusk. The room was big and faced a back courtyard so very quiet, beds very comfortable and menu cosmopolitan enough for us both.

In Pokhara we stayed in the Temple Tree Resort. It was definitely a resort! Beautiful property, big rooms and really hot showers. Prices for food and clothes washing were high, so we ate out at Moondance cafe each meal and I got my washing done across the street in a small laundry opposite the entrance for next to nothing, so I gave the lady double. We visited the Gurkha Museum and the International Mountaineering Museum on our first day; and went for a boat ride on Lake Fewa and shopping the next.

We stayed at the Namobuddha Resort high on a Hill. It was very unusual with separate buildings, vegetarian food, and a sense of serenity. We sat outside having a vodka before going to the main building for dinner. Rooms were generous, the bathroom was in a separate building and massive! Loved the food there.

Our last few nights were at 1905 Suites. We were blown away by this boutique property. We ate dinner in and the food was amazing.

Some summing up the hotel and resort part of the package - all properties were privately owned and offered completely different experiences, rooms and food excellent, bathrooms functional. We would recommend any of them to our friends.

Accommodation on the trail was “Tea Houses”. All offered us twin rooms with a simple, but comfortable bed in dormitory style accommodation. Meals were limited, with the same menu appearing almost everywhere. All the food we tried was good - especially given where we were! The Chicken Dal Bhat was my local favourite. Those with sweet tooth can try mars roll, or chocolate pudding!

We had a mix of washroom arrangements, but most were ensuite. All places had an English type toilet in the room, and at least one English communal toilet. Hot water ranged from almost cold to scolding, so test your water first. We trekked early March so we had limited number of other trekkers. The only Tea House that was a bit average was the one a Tadapani. Our favourite was the one in Ghorepani called Superview Hotel. All Tea Houses had wi-fi, but power was not reliable. If you take a lot of video then take a power bank with you. I used mine once to recharge.

All our expectations for a great trip and trekking were well exceeded.

We had a debrief with Amanda on our last day - just where we started at Himalayan Java Coffee at the entrance to Thamel. Great place. We spent an hour with her going through all aspects of our trip before saying goodbye. It was evident that Amanda had been in contact daily with our guides and hotels/resorts and was across our whole trip.

Conclusion

Well there is much that I cannot say in this short space, but our experience with Himalayan Trails was outstanding. Although our trekking was simple and easy (compared to others) we felt we were treated with the same high levels of service and safety. We would confidently recommend them to any of our friends.

Other Things You Should Know

If your going that far to Nepal, take a scenic flight to Mt Everest, after all it is the “big daddy”and see the top of the world go by. We tried it on Day 3 but due to cloud got cancelled on the runway. Himalayan Trails rescheduled us with Buddha Airlines on Day 15. We saw it. Truly awesome experience.

When in Nepal, use taxis. They are not that dear. Negotiate a price up front and get to where you need to be fast. Don’t waste your time travelling - you’ve paid to be there so get to where you want to be quickly.

Be generous. Tip for good service. You don’t have too, but a small amount in European, American, or Australian is nothing to you and is a great deal to the Nepalese.

Happy trekking.

Views of the mountains, Nepal - Mar 15 - Mar 19, 2018

Traveler: David H. - Local specialist: Mads Mathiasen

Overall excellent. Good hotel in Kathmandu (Shankar). Amanda and team came to brief us. All well organised and implemented. Day trip around K was not enough (so we spent some more time on our own later). Requested "old folks" walking trip in hills near K was well organised and guide (Dawa) was sympathetic and adjusted pace to suit our knees. Very interesting and comfortable places to stay along route. We requested "view of the mountains" and it was provided! (courtesy of some rain which cleared the smog).

Overall - excellent.

Mads Mathiasen, local specialist, responded to this review:

Hi David, thanks for your review, I am happy to hear you enjoyed the company of Dawa and the trek. Always good when we get some spring rain to clear the haze, I am glad you got to see the mountains, it makes it extra special. Thanks for traveling with us and we hope to see you back in the Himalayas soon. Mads

Receiving a special thank you gift from Amanda at HT after our adventures had finished was a beautiful surprise! And the follow up phone call the next day was great too.
We can’t wait to book another trek!! Communication and in country support was second to none x

I could not fault her communication skills which was the reason we chose Amanda versus other tour operators. Amanda even arranged to meet us personally on arrival at our hotel to make sure everything was ok for the trip and to introduce us to our guides. Because of our limited time in Nepal Amanda had a good understanding of the amount of time we would need in each place including Kathmandu and Pokhara and our 3 day trek to Dhampus and Astam. Every detail was taken care of including pickup and drop off at the airports, our accommodation at Mums Garden in Pokhara and hotel Manaslu in Kathmandu which were both comfortable and clean and the Eco lodges on our trek even had hot water. I would like to make a special mention of our amazing treking guide Tendu who was very caring and went out of his way to make sure everything was ok throughout our time away and also the lovely quietly spoken sherpa Lakpa. They both travelled 8 hours on the bus from Kathmandu to Pokhara to accompany us on the trek. The highlight of the trek was to wake up early on our last day at Astam Ecco Village to see that the rain and mist had cleared and we had a magnificent view of the Annupurna mountains. Thank you all concerned for a most memorable time in Nepal. Helen and Ralph Arbon

Kripa was great at helping me plan everything! She made sure I was completely ready before my trip. My trek was amazing and definitely my highlight of Nepal. We had a fantastic trip! - Thanks so much to Amanda, Pemba and Nima for all their support and looking after us before and during the trip. The trek was spectacular -in particular, watching the sunrise at Muldai point! The planning and logistics when we were there, were seamless. I would highly recommend Himalayan Trails!

Amanda Delecca, local specialist, responded to this review:

Many thanks Alice for the review! There are so many places in Nepal that like Muldai that are off the beaten path and not very well known and it gives us such pleasure to take our guests to the places that we really enjoy. We would of course love to see you both here again, if the opportunity arises!

Ang Gelu - Extremely patient person. Seriously, I can't tell you how many times I stopped during the first few days. He never left my side. Always trekking behind me at my pace. Sometimes slow and sometimes really fast. His stamina is spot on. It's evident he loves the mountains, the way he talks about them, later part of the trek. He made sure we got proper meals during the day and also made sure we ordered food that was good in that particular restaurants. Whatever that he felt we shouldn't be eating he lets us know. There were many times after the trek when we took naps before dinner, and he came to our rooms with the menu asking for our orders in advance so that we don't have to wait for the food for long. He also made sure we stopped for tea breaks in between. He never rushed us, never raised his voice. There was a rest day where the room we got was near the storeroom, and the entire night we had mice running around and in our bags. We did not get any sleep at all that night and thankfully it was a rest day. We told him about it in the morning, and he spoke to the owner and got us a new room. AWAY from the mice. Ever since then he made sure the rooms we got were never near a storeroom. A very kind soft-spoken man. He also makes sure Kunga is ok while trekking and even offered him gloves on the morning of the pass. I have to say the day of the pass was the most gruelling out of all the days. Being up there was beautiful. But while descending, Mattis and myself had slight altitude sickness and had massive headaches. When we stopped for lunch in the mountains, we took a short nap. He knew we were both exhausted and even though we might be getting late to get to the guesthouse, he never rushed us at all. He also offered to carry my pack, which I politely declined. I knew we were all exhausted from the day and I consider all of us a team :) We were one of the last few to get to the guesthouse before sunset. He's honestly a good Sherpa.

Kunga - He is seriously like a ninja. For such a small frame, I'm in awe of how much he can carry, trek fast and eat like a horse after all that! Honestly, he's so fast, that later on during the trek, Ang Gelu sends him ahead to make sure we get comfortable rooms in the guesthouse since there were many trekkers on the way. He would be waiting for us at the guesthouse with our bags in the rooms holding the keys. As Kunga English is limited, it was hard to speak to him, but Ang Gelu was our translated. Later we brought out the cards and Mattis, Kunga and Ang Gelu had a good time playing cards and breaking the ice. Especially with Kunga as he's really shy.

Few things: During our briefing in the hotel, we spoke about height sickness pills, and we were assured that Ang Gelu would be bringing them. We did not know he did not have any, a day before heading to Dharamsala. I don't think he realised that he should have brought some in case we needed them. We brought some just in case, but we also feel a Sherpa should carry some with him.

Also, we knew accommodation would be limited in Dharamsala (the night before the pass). What we didn't realise was that it was just enough tents for trekkers but sherpas and porters had to sleep in the main canteen. With no heat or beds. We only found out in the morning. Even with such conditions, the Sherpas and porters still had their game face on early in the morning making sure their clients had breakfast and hot water before starting the trek. The Sherpa and the porters work the hardest, and somehow they did not even have proper sleeping beds to rest. We heard Dharamsala would be building a guesthouse eventually, but we hope in the meantime, that Sherpas and porters have comfortable sleeping areas so that they too can adequately rest a day before the pass.

We also notice they don't eat together with their clients. Not sure if this is a cultural thing. There were a few times both Ang Gelu and Kunga dined with us, but most of the time it's after we retire to bed. Sometimes Ang Gelu sends Kunga to have dinner first while he stays and waits for us to finish meal regardless of how long we take. Mattis and I would have been happy to have dinner together with Ang Gelu and Kunga after a whole day of trekking. We assume it could also be that they would want to have dinner together with their fellow Sherpas and porters. Which makes sense as well.

All in all, we had such a fabulous time doing the Manaslu trek. It's a beautiful route that changes every day. We had a great time with Ang Gelu and Kunga that once we got back to Kathmandu, we met them the next day for lunch. Will recommend your company to future trekkers for sure. A professional and competent team of Sherpas and porters.

Thank you Ngima for arranging this for us from start to finish. A special heartfelt thanks to Ang Gelu and Kunga for making this a trek that we will never forget. Great company with plenty of memories to last a lifetime.

It's so good to hear back from you with your trip experience after long. Pretty glad that you both are very happy with our service and our team effort succeeded in giving you a satisfactory trek with lots of good memories to take back to your home.

As our first priority is the comfort of our valuable clients, we always focus on their comfort first and our's afterward. It's true that in some cases, the rooms become limited in-season time and we have to adjust ourselves in any way. But it's not just the first time. This happens to us in peak season time but we are happy with it. We cannot complain about fewer infrastructures but we are happy instead as more and more travelers are loving Nepal and coming to visit us. We hope to welcome you again in near future.

Best wishes,

Amanda was really helpful and flexible with our change in plans. I was so busy in the run up to the holiday that it was great to have someone else taking care of all the details. Our guide Mingmar was very experienced and professional (hugely overqualified for taking us up a 4000m peak which for Nepal is no more than a hill...) and the views were spectacular.

The whole trip was fantastic and thanks Erin for putting me in touch with Amanda!

This was my first short trip to Nepal.
On the first day that I touched Nepal, my tour planner Kripa, Jeevan, driver Narayan, welcome me at the airport, Jeevan such a meticulous person, he quickly open a bottle of mineral water and pass it to me. Arrangement to meet Amanda, my tour guide Pratikshya, make me feel warm welcome to visit Nepal.

1st & 2nd day, stayed at The Inn Patan, an old traditional brick and timber Newari house transformed into a beautiful heritage hotel and interesting olden way to lock the door of the room. If it was not in winter time, it should be a very comfortable lying on the floor mat. Besides the building attracted me wanted to come back to stay in this hotel again was the service provided by the waiter here, his name Sam and also the great food provided by the chef.

One thing must try in Patan here was the mountain flight and I was quite lucky to be able to take the flight and view the long waited, charming Mt Everest and panoramic view of the Himalayas.
I like greenery and mountains, though can't stay near to Mt Everest but thank you for the arrangement to Astam, Annapurna Eco Village, it was a very beautiful place eventhough has to go thru a very bumpy road but worth for it. Along the way, you can see the magnificent views of Annapurna Range and Fishtail (Machhapuchhere). I like the warm, authentic and hospitality, I like the feeling of whole family involvement in preparing the food, sharing the joy, singing & dancing which left me a memorable experience. Hope can stay longer and try the yoga and meditation in future visit.

I think it is not an good idea to leave Astam at noon, because have to miss the delicious lunch and upon reaching Pokhara after the normal lunch time.... Self exploration of the Lakeside town also not suitable for person like me whom don't like the heat and dust under the sunny afternoon.
Back from Pokhara to Kathmandu, meet another driver, Arjun. He was quiet but with wonderful smile. You will feel safe with his skillful driving along up to hilltop. Another place that I love - Namobuddha, Pratikshya arranged to have short walk and climb some staircases was a great way to explore Namobuddha, if the sky is clear, I can imagine the great view from the top however Nepal wanted me to go back therefore still left some mystery (foggy weather).

Besides scenery and rich culture, Kathmandu also has nice local food and snack waiting to explore, thanks Pratiksya recommendation. That I have chance to meet the member of Vespa Valley. Caring and friendly, Niraj, he brought me to taste the nice local Lasi, "laughing", meat momo, Newari food, samosa......the one that I love most -> Lasi, Bara?. Hope can try more and explore some other places by scooter ride.

Last, I would like to thank Kripa who planned the trip for me though I gave her a short notice for solo lady traveler like me, warm and caring call during flight delay at Pokhara and arrangement for hotel extension on my last day in Nepal because of late flight. Besides Kripa, someone whom I will not forget Jeevan, thank you for coming to say good bye.
Hope to see you guys in future visit.
