What you'll do

This half-day, self-guided adventure begins when you check in at the meeting point in Logroño to pick up your e-bike and download the Komoot app, where your guide has created a custom route for you to follow. Complete with scenic stops, local tips, and reservations at two local wineries for private tasting tours, the app has everything you need to explore the vine-clad landscapes of La Rioja with ease. Make sure your phone is fully charged (grab an extra battery pack to be safe), then set off toward the charming town of Navarette, located roughly 17 miles (13 km) southwest of the city.

You'll follow quiet country roads and narrow dirt tracks, choosing your own pace and letting the e-bike take over the work whenever you get tired. Loop around some of La Rioja's prime wine country, home to over 500 wineries, and cross portions of the Camino Francés (French Way), one of the ancient Camino de Santiago pilgrimage routes. Pass locals tying vines and harvesting grapes, and pause in quiet villages to refuel with a cup of café con leche or a quick snack.

Along the way, you'll stop by two local wineries (locations will vary depending on availability) for pre-booked, private tasting experiences, learning more about La Rioja's viticulture history (dating back to the Romans) and why its unique climate and terroir produce world-class tempranillo and garnacha grapes. Sip some of each winery's top vintages, explore the cellars, and take a stroll through the vines, then hop back on your bike and continue your loop, ending back in Logroño after about 4.5 hours.
