What you'll do

Sample a range of Catalan tapas as you wander the medieval streets of Girona with an expert foodie. Meet your guide at the Girona Food Tours Shop in Barri Vell to start your walk. The ancient old town lies on the Riu Onyar (Onyar River) and is surrounded by a tower-studded medieval wall. Wander through the labyrinthine streets, following your guide to some of the city's best eateries, where you'll taste traditional fare and more modern dishes.

Along the way, you'll sample Catalonia's answer to paella, fideua, made with fresh Mediterranean seafood and noodles rather than rice. Your guide will take you to a family-run jamonería where you'll find out how to carve the perfect slice of Spain's renowned cured ham, jamón Iberico, and get to taste three varieties paired with a glass of sparkling cava. The final stop is at the famed Rocambolesc, a homemade ice cream shop owned by the Michelin-starred pastry chef from the local restaurant El Celler de Can Roca.

Throughout the walk, your guide will share fascinating stories about Girona's culinary history and culture. You'll learn about the influence of the Mediterranean and the Pyrenees on the local cuisine and how different cultures have contributed to the region's flavors.
