GeoSea Geothermal Baths near Húsavík, Northern Iceland

4.3 (6 reviews)

Overview

Northern Iceland offers one of the country's newest and most modern thermal spas, the GeoSea Geothermal Baths. Near the town of Húsavík is this world-class geothermal bathing mecca, offering an experience that taps into the historical roots of a small fishing town. Locals have harnessed the Earth's geothermal waters for centuries, as the area provides a rare union of mineral-rich seawater and heat from the Earth's core.

Perched along a western-facing cliffside that overlooks the Skjálfandi Bay and the Arctic Circle to the north, the baths provide the ultimate vantage point for whale watchers and for those seeking the northern lights. Reconnect, decompress, and enjoy Icelandic nature in a unique way at GeoSea.

You haven’t had a real hot springs experience until you try salt water. It’s an incredible feeling on your skin. The walk up bar at the far pool was very convenient 😁 Read more

Very nice experience; amazing views; not overcrowded -- we really enjoyed this bath. It was our #2 favorite bath out of five (Vok was our favorite). Read more

We were in the GeoSea Geothermal Bath in the afternoon -- it was not busy. This bath flowed into the Greenland Sea, which we thought was surreal. Thoroughly enjoy it. Read more

Pleasant. We arrived an hour early, and that was no problem at all.

The pools themselves were pretty and did overlook the ocean with land between the two. Of course it was snowing the day we were there so visibility was limited and our heads were exposed to the snow and cold as we did not have hair/head covers. Water was warm and relaxing from the shoulders down. Read more

Tips for future travelers

Would have liked to have known that Othman booked a tour that did not include towels to dry off. Would have liked to have known to brace for rude hospitality staff.

Friendliness, understanding that travelers using a travel company are not made aware of details odf what's included in the package purchased by the tour company.

This was a great place to visit. We loved the baths, the swim up bar, etc. We ate in a lovely restaurant in the town. Be sure to bring clothes and be ready to shower before and after going into the pools. We brought a towel with us from our hotel. We didn't need a robe. I was shocked that i wasn't freezing getting in and out of the pools. The view of the mountains over the water in the distance does take your breath away. Read more
