What you'll do
After meeting your guide at the quay, you'll board the first ferry to one of three islands, each with its own brand of charm. The fun may begin on the historic island of Hovedøya, renowned for its ruins. Explore the remains of a nearly 1000-year-old abbey and the 19th-century city ramparts as your guide shares stories and insights into Norwegian culture. Next, you'll move on to hilly Gressholmen, where you'll learn about the island's past as the base for Norway's first major airport (back in 1927), and the nature reserve at its northern area
The last leg of the hop-on-hop-off ferry excursion takes you to one of the cabin islands, where you'll visit either Lindøya, Nakkholmen, or Bleikøya. With flower-lined pathways, these quaint islands come alive in the summer as many Osloites retreat there for extended stays. In the fall, the vibes change, they're quieter and allow travelers to appreciate their peace and autumnal foliage. Don't forget your swimsuit when traveling during the warmer months; a cold dip in the Oslofjord is an invigorating experience. Concluding the excursion, you'll board your last ferry for your return. And note, while some islands have shops, it's recommended to bring a packed lunch to enjoy a picnic.
