What you'll do

Your adventure begins at Flåm's inner harbor. You'll arrive ready to join your group and make the scenic 15-minute drive to Aurland with your experienced, knowledgeable guide. The hike, suitable for adults and children over six, is an easy-to-moderate 3-mile (5 km) walk, though with an uphill stretch, a fair degree of fitness is required. Upon arrival in Aurland, you'll set out from an organic agricultural school and follow an old farm path toward Turlifossen, a gorgeous hidden waterfall in a forest setting. In the company of your friendly guide, you'll also get an insight into the area's wildlife and history.

Enjoy a short break after the first leg of your walk as you get closer to the waterfall to snap some pics and enjoy the restorative mist from the cascades. Then, continue up the mountainside for a short while until you reach a small plateau, a perfect spot for a water break and to soak up the views of the fjord below. Now, you'll rest your legs for a bit as you reunite with your vehicle and travel up the infamous Aurlandsfjellet, the Aurland mountain road known locally as the "Snow Road," that takes you up to the Stegastein viewpoint.

Walk along the viewpoint that juts out 98 feet (30 m) from the mountain, and you'll feel like you're hovering over the pristine fjord, 2,132 feet (650 m) below. You'll have time to take some truly memorable photos before returning to the trailhead and heading back to Flåm. The schedule may vary based on weather and trail conditions.

Tips for future travelers

This is a great experience and should not be missed. Wear sneakers or hiking shoes. They provided hiking poles which were very helpful in securing our footing up and down the falls.

Ervin (aka Wreckless haha) was honestly one of the best tour guides I've ever had, and I do a lot of traveling. He was very down to earth, very in tune with what we wanted to do and talk about, and we both felt very confidant in his abilities and comfortable around him. Me and my friend Christy had an awesome day seeing some amazing views, hiking with him and eating some local treats ("Don't call it a KitKat") lol. Tips for future travelers

...Do the hiking part up past the waterfall that only 10% normally do...it's more than worth it! Oh, and use the cover boots that they suggest you wear. They aren't cute, but you don't want to do this hike without them, trust me on this.
