Grand Hotel Costa Brada, Gallipoli
Modern beachfront resort near Gallipoli, with bright sea-view rooms, a private sandy beach, outdoor pool, expansive spa, and regional Salento dining
Overview
Kimkim's Take
- You'll stay directly on one of Puglia's prettiest stretches of coastline, with fine white sand, turquoise Ionian waters, and beautiful sunsets overlooking the sea (best seen from Ristorante Panoramico's terrace from July to September).
- The hotel's private beach is a real perk, with a reserved umbrella, two loungers, and fresh beach towels provided daily from May through October. Book a Deluxe Room or higher for a front-row spot.
- Families will appreciate the gently sloping seabed, where shallow waters extend quite far from shore, as well as a small playground and spacious rooms that can sleep up to five.
- Most rooms have private balconies or furnished terraces with at least partial sea views; splash out on a Junior Suite or Suite for a larger terrace and unobstructed views.
- There's plenty to keep you occupied between beach sessions, including a 32,292-square-foot (3,000 sq m) park, two bars, a semi-Olympic outdoor pool, a tennis court, a gym, and a comprehensive spa with saunas, steam baths, and sensory treatments.
- Ristorante Panoramico and the poolside Fico d'India (Prickly Pear) snack bar showcase fresh seafood and regional flavors, while summer evenings on the restaurant terrace bring musical entertainment.
- Breakfast is included, a buffet of fresh baked goods, seasonal fruit, local cured meats and cheeses, Apulian desserts, coffee, and juices, and you'll have access to outdoor parking (also included) and an electric vehicle charging station.
- This is a fairly large, modern beach resort. Expect lots of white interiors and contemporary, white furniture with little in the way of historic charm or traditional Puglian character.
- You'll want a rental car, as the hotel sits along a coastal road roughly 2 miles (3 km) south of Gallipoli, away from the town's restaurants, shops, and historic center. Public transit isn't reliable, though there is a hotel shuttle service.
- Not all rooms have the same views. Entry-level Comfort Rooms with Windows overlook the parking lot, while some sea-view categories only offer partial or side-facing views.
Authenticity
Grand Hotel Costa Brada is a contemporary seaside resort. Its bright, predominantly white interiors and clean lines of its neo-modern furnishings contrast against the blue and green of the sea, sky, and surrounding nature of the Ionian coast. You'll find a stronger sense of Salento's regional identity in the hotel's two restaurants, where menus feature fresh seafood and local dishes, including specialties like fava beans and chicory, friselle with tomatoes, orecchiette with turnip greens, and plenty of burrata, and through seasonal experiences such as sunset wine tastings accompanied by live music.
Location
Set directly on one of Puglia's prettiest stretches of coastline, Grand Hotel Costa Brada overlooks the turquoise waters and fine white sands of the Ionian Sea, roughly 2 miles (3 km) south of Gallipoli. The hotel sits along a coastal road near Baia Verde, surrounded by relatively undeveloped countryside and beaches—a quiet base for a few days of seaside relaxation. And though the beach is right on your doorstep, you'll want a car to explore Gallipoli's historic center, nearby restaurants, and the wider Salento peninsula. Outdoor parking is available, along with a covered garage that requires advance reservations.
Rooms & Bathrooms
The hotel's 75 rooms and suites are spread across four floors, featuring bright, contemporary interiors dominated by white furnishings, neutral tones, and clean lines. Accommodations range from compact Comfort Doubles to spacious Suites, with air-conditioning, minibars, and bathrooms equipped with showers (some with jetted showers or separate bathtubs). Most rooms have balconies or furnished terraces overlooking the Ionian Sea, though views vary from partial and side-facing to panoramic; the entry-level Comfort Rooms with Windows (no sea view) overlook the parking lot instead. Couples seeking extra room and uninterrupted sea views may prefer a Junior Suite or Suite with a large private terrace.
Amenities
You'll have direct access to a private stretch of beach, where guests receive a designated umbrella, two loungers, and fresh beach towels daily (May through October); higher room categories include front-row spots. Away from the sand, you'll find a semi-Olympic outdoor pool (also seasonal), a tennis court, a garden-view gym, and the expansive Lympha Spa, which offers saunas, steam baths, sensory pools, and treatments (with discounted access for hotel guests). Two restaurants serve Mediterranean and Salento-inspired cuisine, including fresh seafood, while a poolside kiosk and two bars provide casual bites and cocktails. Breakfast is included, with a buffet of sweet and savory options, and guests can also relax in the hotel's expansive park, complete with shaded gazebos, benches, and a small pine grove.
Family-Friendliness
Grand Hotel Costa Brada is particularly well suited to families planning a relaxed beach holiday, thanks to its private sandy shoreline and gently sloping seabed, where shallow waters extend several yards into the sea. Children can also enjoy the outdoor swimming pool and a small playground. Accommodation options include Triple and Quadruple Comfort Rooms with sofa or bunk beds, as well as Quintuple Rooms with a separate sleeping area that sleep up to five guests. For families seeking more space, the Junior Suites and Suites sleep up to four, and Deluxe Rooms can accommodate two adults plus a crib.
