Hi there! I'm Taylor, one of kimkim’s Norway Travel Specialists.

For the past three years, I’ve been immersed in the travel industry, with a focus on self-guided hiking and biking adventures. My journeys have taken me across the UK and Europe, as well as to vibrant destinations like Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Vietnam, and all across the U.S.

I'm here to be your go-to resource for planning unforgettable experiences in Norway, whether you're craving authentic local flavors, epic outdoor adventures, or simply the perfect fjord to dip your toes in.

The world is wide, let’s start exploring it, one unforgettable trip at a time!

How did you get involved in travel?

"I went on my first solo and international trip in 2016 to Australia and New Zealand, where I got to explore, what felt like the edge of the world after a 16-hour flight, in any way that I wanted. I hiked the coastline, lied on the beaches, tried surfing, hiked to glaciers, swam with dolphins, and also made lifelong friendships along the way. Getting to travel is a gift that keeps on giving and once I got bit by that bug, I haven't stopped!"

Please share a unique travel experience you will never forget.

"One of my absolute favorite memories was such a simple moment. One of my best friends and I, who I hadn't seen in-person in 3 years, were on an overnight sail. We woke up before dawn, bundled up in layers, and sat out on the deck together to stargaze and watch the sunrise. It wasn’t the biggest or most adventurous moment of the trip, but it was the one that meant the most. That quiet morning under the Norwegian sky is something I’ll never forget."

The trip was beautiful and interesting and energetic. Norway is a series of engineering marvels with tunnels and hydropower and hairpin turns leading to glacial grandeur.
The Scandic Torget hotel in Bergen was average but the location was excellent. We did a hike from Ulriken, the top of the gondola, to Mt Floyen, the top of the funicular, along the ridge top which was spectacular (13 km on the Vidden trail). We ate dinner one night at the Daily Pot which was delicious, casual and inexpensive.

The other 3 hotels were great. All 4 of the hotels had excellent breakfasts and we made sandwiches for lunch (not encouraged by the staff).

The hike in the Aurlandsdalen was amazing and long, 19 km. We took a bus up to Osterbo and then were picked up in Vassbygdi. The hotel helped us with the bus tickets and details. The ride on the Flamsbana was beautiful and the walk down was wet, again beautiful, and interesting, stopped at an old church in Flam along the way.

Took the snow road to Geiranger, a must! Ride in the RIB was great, could have been longer. Hiked up above the Storsaeterfossen into the meadows which was glorious. Had a delicious dinner at the Westeras Farm, a short walk from the hotel.

Took the Trollstigen to Alesund, a must! Hiked the Storhornet on Godoya island, more remote than Sukertoppen and no people but much more difficult. We felt like explorers standing on the edge of the sea.

It makes me especially happy to hear how much you enjoyed your stay at Dragsvik Fjordhotel. Those panoramic fjord views are truly breathtaking, and there’s something so special about staying at a family-run property where the warmth, hospitality, and attention to detail shine through in every aspect of the experience. I'm thrilled that the hotel exceeded your expectations and that the meals there became such a memorable part of your stay as well.

I’m also so glad that the cider tour at Ciderhuset was a highlight of your trip. It’s wonderful to hear that you enjoyed both the tasting and the lunch.

Thank you for your kind words about the travel recommendations and planning process. It was truly a pleasure helping you put this trip together, and hearing that these experiences became some of your favorite memories is incredibly rewarding. 😊🇳🇴

The hotel in Flam had a great view and reasonably appointed but the shower in room 12 was atrociously small. I am not a large person but it was small for me and there was nowhere to put any of your shower items. The other rooms may have a better layout but the shower was so bad that I was grateful that it was a one night stay. It would be helpful to have a general but better understanding of what food and drinks are included in the food and culture tour in Bergen. For example, we'll try a two local drinks, a few small tastings and finished off with a lunch. Thank you all for helping us have a wonderful trip in Norway.

My husband and I were especially impressed with the Lofoten area of Norway. Seeing those gorgeous snow-capped mountains and the surrounding landscape was indeed amazing. The apartment (Nordis Suite) in Svolvaer was spectacular! The view from those floor to ceiling windows of the harbor and the mountains was simply magical. Unfortunately, my biggest yearning was not fulfilled: the weather was not cooperative and we missed seeing the Aurora. We were booked for a photographer's hunt for the Aurora in Svolvaer which never happened. But our snowmobiling north of Tromso was really exciting. We enjoyed most of the local guides who helped make the towns and cities come alive with history. We stayed at the Oslo Grand Hotel, which was a nice 5-star hotel, but the rooms were certainly not "grand." The concierge service was wonderful, however. They went out of their way to try to respond to our needs. The Bergen Bors hotel, a so-called 4-star hotel, was not as good. Word of caution: Do not make a reservation for the Loft Suite. The low beams are hazardous. The bathroom is downstairs but the loft-like bedroom is up a long flight of stairs. Using the bathroom at night would have been challenging so we changed our room. In general, the hotel rooms were rather small compared to those in the US. The AERA Lodge near Tromso was quite "rustic" and is only for those who enjoy roughing it a bit. Kimkim was excellent in helping us plan our trip and was there every step of the way. Our local specialist at Kimkim, Taylor, went above and beyond. We couldn't have done it without her careful and expert guidance. I highly recommend Kimkim as a travel agency that really cares about its clients.

We cannot say enough good things about kimkim and our experience. Taylor was amazing and the pre-planning and getting us ready. Then while we are in Norway, Maria handled everything effortlessly. When we arrived in Tromso, the hotel was not up to snuff and Maria upgraded us to a better hotel free of charge and the whole thing was dealt with in a matter of a couple of hours.

We unfortunately did not get to see the northern lights, but that was no fault of kimkim‘s. We were unable to attend one of our activities to see the lights because of Heather‘s conditions and we’re promptly refunding the money as well as given $150 dining credit to enjoy a night out instead of the planned excursion.

The only feedback I do have regarding that experience, is that apparently the lights were visible the first night we were in Trom zone. I think it would be smart for Kim Tim to communicate with the hotels and let them know to wake up the residence that are there to see the lights. We gladly would have gotten up to see them. Also, perhaps more options on seeing the lights. Like we heard about Van trips that will chase the lights all the way to Finland if necessary.

Overall, I would give kimkim a 9.9 out of 10 . They were excellent and we will definitely use them again.

This hotel was charming and located right next to the Christmas markets which we loved. Great location to walk around the city as well. We were able to walk to the resistance museum and too many restaurants and other attractions. The beds were comfortable, and the staff was very accommodating and

Unfortunately, this hotel was not good. The beds were super uncomfortable, the room was very hot with no way to regulate the temperature except a small fan that was left in the closet. It was very loud and the staff was not able to do anything except all for us a very hard board to put under the mattress which did not help. We did not stay at this hotel.

This hotel was beautiful, and the beds were far more comfortable. They offered breakfast dinner and Fika, which was amazing. Their room was very quiet and we were able to control the temperature which was great. The windows opened so this helped us cool it down when needed after running the heater. The staff was very accommodating and the shared dining areas were beautiful.

There was one worker at the bar who gave my friend an alcoholic cider when she asked for a nonalcoholic. There may have been a little bit of a language barrier, so I don’t think it was really intentional or anything, but it could’ve been dangerous for my friend because she’s allergic to alcohol. She also didn’t really apologize after we told her what happened.

I loved this so much. I am a huge dog lover so getting to pet all the dogs was amazing. Unfortunately, we did not get to see the northern lights, but the experience was awesome. That guides are very knowledgeable and very friendly and made it a great experience. We also enjoyed the meal and the roasted marshmallows. You get to spend a lot of time with the dogs, which is really nice.

This was another great experience. It was very cold, but walking around with the reindeer helped to warm us up. They were fun to hang out with, they have interesting personalities. Definitely not as friendly as the sled dogs they only care about food.😆

I tend to get C6 so I was afraid to sit inside so my friend and I sat on the upper deck for about 20 minutes until we started to freeze. Fortunately it is very very smooth and I did not get seasick at all. It is about a two hour ride each way, but it is beautiful and I highly recommend it.

Quality of Experience
There should be more of a summer activity and should not be recommended when the visitor center is closed. It is very cold there in the winter and it can be a little bit challenging when not a lot of things are open. We ended up wandering around the grocery store too kill Hime until we can get back on the boat.

The Kim Kim team arranged everything flawlessly and were very flexible, even managing to cancel one of our tours due to last minute change in plans. We take many memorable moments with us.
