Active Eco Trip in Sorrento's Natural Park & Marine Reserve, Amalfi Coast

Overview

Enjoy an unforgettable off-the-beaten-path experience exploring the unspoiled areas of the Amalfi Coast. You’ll go hiking, snorkeling, and sea kayaking within the Punta Campanella Protected Marine Area, an incredible natural park outside of Sorrento. You’ll start with a moderate trek, discovering the treasures of the Baia di Ieranto, a protected area with over 100 acres (47 hectares) of Mediterranean flora and olive groves.

Even in Greek and Roman times, Ieranto Bay was rich in natural resources, including trees for wood, wild fauna for hunting, land for agriculture, marine resources to harvest, and limestone for mineral mining until the last century. Today, the area hosts essential marine communities, Posidonia meadows, submarine caves, and terrestrial habitats. In addition, the Italian government protects the region for ecotourism, nature conservation, and environmental monitoring.

After your one-hour hike, you’ll stop to enjoy snorkeling and sea kayaking in pristine bays. Indulge yourself in the beauty of the Amalfi Coast and experience a different ambiance away from the crowds. Pass rocky shores and explore life under the sea. Finally, retrace your steps by hiking back to the starting point.
