Free Beach Day in Sorrento, Sorrento

Overview

The beaches along Sorrento’s southern coast are some of the most beautiful in Italy. As a result, many people choose to spend all or part of their trip on this small stretch of coastline in the summer, and the beaches can be extremely busy and overcrowded. In contrast to the small sandy bays around the Amalfi Coast, Sorrento’s beaches are rockier, but the added advantage is that fewer people are surrounding you.

You’ll find the city’s main beaches around the Marina Grande and Marina Piccola ports. Or, a short drive will take you to lesser-known stretches of sand, offering a quiet and relaxing day sunbathing and swimming in crystal clear waters. We suggest visiting the following beaches:
  • Marina Grande: The public beach in Sorrento is small and easy to reach on foot. The pastel-colored houses and cliffs overlooking the beach feel similar to the Amalfi Coast. With its proximity to Sorrento, it's a popular choice for tourists and locals alike.

  • Marina Piccola: You'll find this beach below the Villa Comunale park. This public beach with volcanic sand also has some beach clubs. It's a central and easily accessible beach, making it very popular. Enjoy all the amenities you need and a panoramic view of the Gulf of Naples.

  • Bagni Regina Giovanna: This hidden spot is accessible from Sorrento with a guided sea kayaking tour or boat tour on the way to the Islands.

  • Puolo: Puolo Beach is a great reason to take a short drive along the coast for those with a car. It's a family-friendly spot perfect for a day swimming in very clean water. Here you can choose to spend time in a public or private area.
