What you'll do

After a transfer from La Fortuna, you'll start by exploring the jungle canopy in the company of an expert guide. Wander high above the treetops along a well-marked trail that leads you over suspension bridges for a once-in-a-lifetime view of Arenal Volcano. In total, there are 10 fixed bridges and six hanging bridges measuring between 16 and 328 feet (5 to 100 meters). You'll notice the region's incredible biodiversity, including some of the more than 350 native bird species, along the way.

Following the hike, you'll head to Tabacon Hot Springs for an unforgettable hot springs experience. Soothe your muscles with a dip in mineral-rich waters, warmed by the volcano and used as therapeutic baths for centuries.

The complex features a large main pool with a swim-up bar, a cold pool, and 20 "in-river" pools. (Gravity is the driving force behind the hot springs — no mechanical systems move or heat the water — and the pools flow from one to the next like a river.) It's best to wear shoes, as the natural rocks lining the pools can get slippery. The pools' temperatures range from 72ºF-105ºF (22ºC-41ºC).

Finish the day with an elegant dinner at the resort's restaurant, serving Costa Rican dishes and international fare. You'll be picked up and transported back to your accommodations at the end of the day.

Tips for future travelers

You do end up at Tabacon after sunset since this tour includes dinner, so bear in mind you will not get the same photos as you see on social media in the day light! It is a magical experience at night though.
