What you'll do

Begin your kayaking adventure by meeting your skilled guides at Svolvær harbor. Here, you'll pick up everything you need for a safe and enjoyable experience, including life vests, paddles, and waterproof bags to store your belongings. Your guide will walk you through basic paddling techniques and essential safety procedures so that even beginners feel prepared and confident before heading out onto the water. Note, too, that the provided tandem kayaks are ideal if you're new to kayaking, as they're more stable than a single, providing a balanced and secure feel on the water.

Once ready, you'll start paddling right from the harbor into the Arctic waters surrounding Svolvær. Gliding across the calm sea, you'll have a unique perspective of the area, taking in views of the rugged coastlines and distant mountains all under the special midnight sun glow of a Norwegian summer evening.

Throughout the relaxed paddle, your guide will share fascinating insights about the local history and culture of the Lofoten Islands. You'll learn about the traditional fishing communities and the rich marine life that thrives in these frigid waters. Depending on the weather and sea conditions, you might also see seabirds like puffins and eagles, and perhaps catch a glimpse of seals or otters in their natural habitat.
