What you'll do
Your half-day excursion begins with meeting your knowledgeable guide, who will accompany you for the day, and setting off to explore the small villages of the Konavle region surrounding Dubrovnik. Your first stop is the charming medieval town of Cavtat, nestled on the southernmost tip of Croatia. As you stroll through its quaint streets, your guide will share fascinating tales about the town's history and its relationship with the broader region. Walk along the scenic waterfront promenade that stretches around the peninsula, and feel free to soak in the coastal vibes, perhaps stopping to dip your feet in the sea.
If time permits and the museum is open, you might also visit the house of Vlaho Bukovac, an important Croatian painter. Here, you can admire his childhood home, which is filled with his paintings and murals.
Following your exploration of Cavtat, you'll continue to drive through the region, known for its bucolic landscapes and timeless villages, with your next destination being Čilipi. Here you'll have the unique opportunity to learn to cook peka, a Croatian signature dish of meat and vegetables, slow-cooked under a bell-shaped cast-iron lid in a wood-fired oven at a local family's farmhouse. As you participate in this hands-on cooking session, enjoy their homemade cheese, fresh vegetables from the family's garden, and local wine and olive oil.
