What you'll do

Your experience starts at the town's famous Fisketorget (Fishmarket), where you'll meet your guide, a knowledgeable local foodie. Here, you'll sample delicious fresh seafood and hear about the importance of the city's fishing heritage.

Continue winding your way along the cobbled streets, stopping to meet a selection of local food producers and sample regional specialties. Meanwhile, your guide will share anecdotes and stories of Bergen's culture and the city's culinary scene. There'll also be a chance to rest your legs and sit down with your guide and group to enjoy a meal at a local restaurant.

Appetite sated, you'll explore the city's historic UNESCO-listed Bryggen district and admire the colorful wooden waterfront architecture and gorgeous fjord views. Your last stop is at a 14th-century pub and Norway's oldest cellar, where you'll raise a toast to your experience with a glass of craft beer. Skål!

Tips for future travelers

Like every Norwegian city or town we visited, Bergen is lovely. We did enjoy the tour. By all means, take the funicular ride up the hill for a spectacular view of Bergen and the opportunity to hike up there or walk back down.

Worthwhile time spent with a very knowledgeable guide. We tasted foods at the new Fish Market, had sample of sausage from whale and other fish at the old fish market. Walked around Bryggen and visited a bar downstairs where local beer was offered. Stories of kings marrying commoners. Norway soup at another venue. Visited UNESCO site for artists.

Wonderful food and stories, and a good walk into parts of town I didn't go otherwise.

Engaging, kind, and helpful. One or two of our group needed to sit down vs stand sometimes, so the guide shifted the group to be near those who needed to sit, when possible. Easy solution.

Tips for future travelers

Guide was ok but could have given us even more info and fun facts, group was quite large. Perhaps there is another walking tour company to use as these tours can be really great

It would be helpful to have a general but better understanding of what food and drinks are included in the food and culture tour in Bergen.

Tips for future travelers
