Full-day Waterfalls Expedition, Gulf of Papagayo

Experience a full-day adventure visiting several spectacular waterfalls and the Río Negro Hot Springs near Hotel Hacienda Guachipelin, beautifully situated on the edge of Rincón de la Vieja National Park. Pristine waterfalls, jungle forests, and natural hot springs are the main attractions that you will enjoy on this unforgettable expedition day.

Begin your adventure at Hotel Hacienda Guachipelin, where you will meet your guide and be briefed on the day's activities. Your first stop is at Chorreras Waterfalls, where two side-by-side waterfalls cascade into a delightful sky-blue mineral water pool. The tiny, shallow canyon of volcanic rock rings the waterfalls and pool, creating an intimate, private tropical oasis perfect for a refreshing swim.

Next, you will visit Victoria Waterfall, which plunges 115 feet (35 meters) into the Río Negro. The surrounding canyon has unique vegetation and striking topography, and you can swim in the crystal clear pool at the waterfall's base.

After Victoria Waterfall, your next stop is Oropendola Waterfall, which plummets 82 feet (25 meters) into a sparkling turquoise pool. Here, the picturesque canyon of the Rio Blanco forges a tropical oasis perfect for another refreshing swim.

The finale to your waterfall adventure is a trip to Rio Negro Hot Springs and waterfalls. Combining three magical hidden waterfalls and the hot springs which are heated naturally by the Rincón de la Vieja Volcano – the most active volcano in Costa Rica. There are ten thermal pools built alongside the river, and if you still require further rejuvenation after all your wild bathing today, then take some of the hot volcanic mud to plaster over your body. This works just like a body mask in a spa would, with all the associated benefits of nutrient-rich volcanic mud going through to your skin. When the mud dries, you can wash it in the cold waters of the river, then enter the thermal water pools to begin the blissful process all over again!
