What you'll do
Your day begins with meeting your guide and fellow travelers (a small group) in central Paris, before transferring in comfort to Louis XIV's former residence, the Palace of Versailles, all the while learning fascinating anecdotes about the lives of the French kings who once resided here. Upon arrival, you'll benefit from priority access, skipping the long lines to delve straight into the palace's opulence.
Inside, your guide will lead you through its most exquisite rooms, starting with the King's Grand Apartments. Here, you'll marvel at the ornate Baroque architecture and decoration dedicated to various gods, showcasing the power and influence of the Sun King. As you continue, the Queen's Grand Apartments offer a glimpse into the life of Marie Antoinette, including her bedroom and the grand Coronation Room. The highlight is undoubtedly the Hall of Mirrors, a nearly 240-foot-long (73 m) spectacle designed by Jules Hardouin-Mansart, where you'll stand in awe of its 17 windows and 350 mirrors that reflect the formal gardens outside.
After touring the interior, you'll have time to explore the famed gardens. Designed by André Le Nôtre, they're a masterpiece of landscape architecture, offering a serene escape with over 386 works of art, including statues, ponds, fountains, and colorful floral displays. Don't miss the Grandes Eaux Musicales that takes place during the summer, when the fountains come alive to classical music.
You'll return to your original meeting point back in Paris at the end of the experience.
