What you'll do
Upon arrival at Rallanregen (the Flåm Bike Rental), the friendly staff will quickly set you up with a high-quality bike—your choice of either an electric bike or a regular one (kids only have the option of a regular bike)—and helmet, ensuring you're ready to head out within five minutes. An e-bike is perfect for navigating the area's hilly terrain, making it an ideal choice for both beginners and seasoned cyclists who want to explore with ease.
The cycling adventure can begin with a scenic ride along Flåmsdalsvegen (the Flåm Valley road), where you can pause to capture stunning photographs of waterfalls and mountains. A must-see stop is the Brekkefossen waterfall. Park your bike by the road and follow the marked trail for about 15-20 minutes to reach the waterfall, where the refreshing spray mist and panoramic views of Flåm harbor and valley will greet you.
For those looking to learn more about the local culture, continue along Flamsdalsvegen to visit the historic Flåm Kirke, a 1670 stave church with distinctive wall decorations. Cycling north along the Aurlandsfjord is another rewarding route. It can take you to Otternes Bygdetun, a 17th-century settlement halfway between Aurland and Flåm. The cycle path follows level terrain, ensuring a leisurely ride under steep rock faces and through lush landscapes.
When planning your trip, keep in mind that bike rentals are subject to weather conditions, as heavy rains can affect availability. Helmets are included in the rental price, but child seats, trailers, and tag-alongs suitable for younger children can be rented for an additional fee.

Could not rent bikes that afternoon due to heavy rains that came through Flam. This was a disappointment since we were looking forward to biking. Can not control the weather. I should have inquired about cancelation fee due to weather prior to leaving yet never crossed my mind.
Ask about cancelation or refund due to weather. Unexpected weather change on our vacation with heavy rains
