What you'll do

Your day starts in the quaint village of Flåm, where you'll embark on a boating excursion that takes you through the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Aurlandsfjord and Nærøyfjord. As you cruise around on an inflatable RIB boat, your knowledgeable guide will reveal the unique scenery of the fjords, peppered with cascading waterfalls, picturesque villages, and a diverse array of flora and fauna. As you continue your exploration, keep your eyes peeled for the chance to spot wildlife thriving in their natural habitat. The fjords are a sanctuary for a variety of species. With every turn as you zoom through the fjords, you'll encounter new sights.

Midway through your journey, you'll make a pit stop at the charming village of Undredal. Nestled between two steep mountain slopes, this humble village is world-renowned for its goat cheese production. You'll get the opportunity to delve into the cheese-making process, learning about the local traditions that have been passed down through generations. Your local host will let you sample different types of cheeses, each served with traditional flatbread and jam to enhance the flavors.

I went into this thinking it would be a bit of a tourist trap nightmare. However, it ended up being one of the prettier and more enjoyable experiences of the trip. I loved stopping off to get some goat cheese and I almost wish we could do a second stop as well. Paulina was excellent! Read more

Tips for future travelers

This is a trip open to all adults, even the elderly. The scenery is breathtaking. It had rained the day prior so there were incredible waterfalls everywhere. Snow on the mountain tops. The stop for the edible portion is the town that the backdrop for the Disney movie Frozen . There aren't enough adjectives to adequately describe this experience. You may wish to consider doing this the same day of arrival on the train from Oslo, as the trip departs at around 4:30pm in August. If you are not interested in hiking/biking, this could cut out a day in Aurland to add an extra day in Bergen
