What you'll do

Valencia's Turia Gardens is a unique piece of the city's history and an essential part of its culture. Enjoy the park from a different perspective by riding a Segway through this old riverbed while learning about what makes it so special to the people of Valencia. You'll start your adventure by meeting your local guide. After a brief orientation, strap on your helmet and hop onto your Segway.

Gliding through the park, your guide will stop at different points of interest to share stories about the park's history. It originated in the 1980s after the government diverted the Turia River following a catastrophic flood in 1957. Various architects and landscape artists designed the space, which features gardens, fountains, sports facilities, playgrounds, and cultural attractions such as the City of Arts and Sciences. The park has become an important cultural and recreational center for locals and visitors, hosting various events throughout the year, including concerts, sports competitions, and festivals.

The City of Arts and Sciences is one of the most important stopping points. The Valencian architect Santiago Calatrava designed this remarkable network of futuristic buildings, which opened in 1998. It's one of Europe's largest scientific and cultural complexes and has become an iconic symbol of Valencia. The compound comprises several different structures, each with its unique design and purpose.

The Hemisfèric is a striking, eye-shaped building that houses an IMAX cinema and planetarium, while the Museu de les Ciències Príncipe Felipe is a massive interactive science museum that encourages visitors to participate in hands-on exhibits and experiments. The Umbracle is an open-air garden serving as a cultural and recreational space. The Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía is a performing arts center hosting opera, theater, and musical performances.

Though all the buildings are worth visiting, one of the City of Arts and Sciences' most impressive features is the Oceanogràfic, the largest aquarium in Europe. It contains over 500 different species of marine life and is home to dolphins, beluga whales, sea lions, penguins, and more. The aquarium is designed to educate visitors about the importance of ocean conservation and features exhibits that showcase the diverse ecosystems of the world's oceans.

Other places to stop include other notable gardens in the park, such as the Garden of the Forsaken, the Garden of the Hesperides, and the Garden of the Gulliver, which includes the iconic Gulliver's Travels sculpture, a giant model of the character from the classic novel.

Another popular attraction in the park is the Alameda Bridge, which spans the park and provides excellent views of the surrounding area. The bridge is also home to several fountains, including the Fountain of Neptune, which features a statue of the Roman god of the sea, and the Fountain of the Nine Muses, inspired by Greek mythology. Other notable sculptures in the park include the Tree of Music, the Woman with a Parasol, and the Flower of Light. Your guide will help you learn more about the park's unique features.

After the excursion, you'll return to the starting point and return your Segway equipment.
