Like every Cycladic island, Syros has its fair share of beautiful beaches where you can swim, snorkel, sunbathe, stroll, and more. Many feature golden sand and offer ideal conditions to windsurf or hidden coves perfect for kayaking and snorkeling. Although the northern beaches are some of the best, consider your personal preferences and choose a couple of beaches from the list below.
Galissas Beach: Easy to access, this beach offers clear, shallow waters, making it an excellent family-friendly option for lounging, swimming, and snorkeling. You'll find fluffy sand, rentable loungers, and facilities like restrooms, cafes, restaurants, and gear shops. In addition, you can watch the sunset from a nearby hill topped with the small Church of St. Pakou.
Komito Beach: Perfect for all kinds of watersports, you can't get bored at this beach. Komito offers a lively and thrilling vibe, complete with nearby hiking trails. Unfortunately, there aren't any facilities, so be sure to pack some food and water.
Lia Beach and Grammata Beach: Both beaches offer off-the-beaten-path experiences, as you can only reach them by boat from Kini or on foot. If you do make the journey, you'll enjoy a quieter, secluded atmosphere and the authentic ruggedness of Syros.
Platys Gialos Beach: Sitting on Syros' southern side, you'll have complete protection from the wind while on the beach and swimming near the shore.
- Delfini Beach: A mix of golden sand and crystal-clear water, this beach is a must-see if you have a rental car. You'll find all the facilities you'll need, including umbrellas, loungers, and a canteen with snacks and drinks. Delfini is also an excellent option for watching the sunset.
