Riad Kalaa, Rabat

4.5 (19 reviews) · Comfort
Traditional Arabo-Andalusian riad featuring an outdoor pool, a hammam spa, and a traditional Moroccan restaurant

Overview

Riad Kalaa, a traditional riad, is a former notable house that dates back to 1815. Found by chance in 2004, it has been revived to its former Arabo-Andalusian architectural glory. It's adorned in line with Moroccan craft techniques and is fully equipped with modern comforts. This rejuvenated haven sits centrally in Rabat, placing you within a 10-minute drive from the Hassan Tower, Royal Palace, and Rabat Beach and within walking distance from sites like the Rue des Consuls and Bab Oudayas.

Each of the 11 rooms and suites at Riad Kalaa has its own character, from the Amber and Jasmin Rooms to the Saharan and Oriental Suites. The rooms are arrayed with oriental motifs, natural zellige floors, and cedar woodwork, presenting a warm and homey ambience. The charm heightens at night with the reflections of chiseled appliques, transporting you into a world out of time. The Saharan Suites are spacious, with high ceilings and traditional tadelakt and ceramic walls and floors. The Oriental Suites are uniquely arranged in duplexes, with living rooms adaptable into children's rooms and a mezzanine bedroom overlooking a bathroom.

The riad has several appealing amenities, including an Andalusian patio, several terraces, and a hammam spa that offers a blend of relaxation and recreation. You can tantalize your taste buds at the in-house restaurant serving traditional Moroccan cuisine. The hotel's rooftop pool is a refreshing retreat after a hot day in Rabat, while the panoramic solarium offers a serene escape.

In Rabat we stayed at Riad Kalaa, smaller boutique Riad with a nice courtyard and rooftop with a small pool. We had a dinner and breakfast at the Riad and thought both were nice. The room was spacious and comfortable and I really liked how it was decorated. I also really liked the artwork and ambiance of the shared spaces. Located in the old town and was very easy to walk everywhere, especially to the Andalusian Gardens, Kasbah des Oudayas, and the ocean. Read more

Didn’t stay here because they were having water issues. Stayed at Riad Dar Chrifa. Dar Chrifa was excellent. The host Michael (Toufal) was fantastic. He gave us info on Morocco, some of its customs and culture. He graciously attended to our every need and made us feel at home with his hospitality and humor. He is a real asset for Riad Dar Chrifa.
