Robin Leybourne
Based in Vienna, I help travelers experience Central Europe beyond the typical tourist route. I like designing trips that combine culture, history, nature, and authentic local experiences. My approach is highly personalized - I truly enjoy understanding what genuinely interests each traveler and building itineraries that reflect their curiosity, whether that's exploring historic cities, discovering hidden neighborhoods, hiking alpine landscapes, or learning about local traditions and cuisine.
What places and activities do you specialize in?
"I specialize in Austria and the broader Central European region, including destinations such as Vienna, Salzburg, the Austrian Alps, Prague, Budapest, and Ljubljana. I enjoy creating itineraries that combine cultural highlights with authentic local experiences, scenic train journeys, historic sites, hiking opportunities, food experiences, and lesser-known destinations that many travelers would otherwise miss. My focus is on helping travelers understand not only what they are seeing, but also why it matters."
How did you get involved in travel?
"My path into travel grew naturally out of a long-standing fascination with people, cultures, and the different ways societies understand the world. Through my academic background in psychology and cognitive science, I became particularly interested in how experiences shape perception and how meaningful encounters can challenge assumptions and broaden perspectives. Living in Austria while maintaining strong international connections gave me the opportunity to explore Central Europe extensively and develop a deep appreciation for the region's cultural diversity, history, and landscapes.
Over time, I realized that travel is one of the most powerful ways to connect people with new ideas, places, and experiences. That realization led me to join Avellera, where I could combine my curiosity about human experiences with a more practical role in helping others discover destinations in a thoughtful and authentic way. What attracted me to Avellera was its focus on personalized travel rather than one-size-fits-all itineraries. I enjoy understanding what motivates each traveler and helping create journeys that reflect their individual interests, whether those involve culture, history, nature, local traditions, or simply a desire to experience a destination more deeply."
Please share a unique travel experience you will never forget.
"One of my most memorable experiences was discovering how much a destination changes when viewed through the eyes of locals rather than through a guidebook. Spending time in smaller towns and less-visited regions of Central Europe taught me that the most meaningful travel moments often happen away from famous landmarks—through conversations, local traditions, unexpected discoveries, and the everyday life of a place. Those experiences continue to shape how I design trips today."
