She helped me with finding local flights and what airlines were the best to help me get around the region. Everything went smoothly. The Patagonia region is stunning and the wildlife incredible and I'm so happy she was able to put this plan together for me, especially since it was a spur of the moment notion for me and hadn't done much research on it. Her knowledge of the entire area is invaluable. Thanks so much, Erin!

Planning and booking the trip was seamless. Erin was attentive, responsive, flexible and accommodating. Her efficiency and knowledge, was the main reason why we chose to book with Dittmar Adventures for our trip. The trip was smooth and our local representative was responsive on WhatsApp when we had questions. I would just like to make some suggestions to elevate the overall experience.

1. When we requested a pre-travel conference with our local representative, we were directed to a booking site to make an appointment , but all the options were during hours when we were at work, We would have appreciated it if there was more flexibility in scheduling a short meeting.
2. When we arrived in Santiago, Chile, it would be a good gesture to send a message of welcome and to make sure that everything was in order.
3. When we arrived in Puerto Natales, where Dittmar had an office, we would have appreciated a check in or an in-person welcome.
4. We had an early bus ride to cross the border to Argentina. Dittmar should have anticipated that there would be a need for a transfer service given that we are a group of 6 with check in baggage, and that cabs/Uber may not be available in that small town that early. We are grateful that they were able to provide this when we asked for one (for a fee plus processing charges) but the driver was given the wrong hotel, so we were picked up late and had to rush to the station. (Good thing that we knew the driver, Malvio, from the previous days, and he made sure we were able to check in and board the bus. Thank you Malvio!)
5. Consider providing water for the guests during those long days in Torres del Paine National Park.
6. There seems to have been an issue with the KimKim app since the itinerary entry on our day in El Calafate had mixed instructions (meant for 2 different groups of travelers). This led to confusion and need for clarification.

It's impossible to choose a favorite place: the moai in Rapa Nui, the street art in Santiago and Valparaiso, Torres del Paine. Our itinerary was customized to match our interests, but some things exceeded our expectations like the Grey Glacier boat. Luckily, we had perfect weather for our trip. One thing that could be improved is the daily schedule which had multiple minor hiccups: starting time/location, guide's name, checkout time. In the end, Dittmar Adventures was very responsive and made everything right.

We had an amazing time in El Chalten and Ushuaia. Erin was very patient in organising things to suit our interests, and dealt with lots of changes and tweaks as we finalised our flight details and other parts of our month long trip elsewhere. Highlights were our treks in El Chalten (delicious lunches delivered to our hotel each morning) and walking with the Penguins on the Isla Martillo. We didn't really see much of Buenos Aires as being December 31/January 1 as most places were closed (had we known we might have chosen to spend out time elsewhere on those days). The accomodation was excellent throughout as were our guides Laura and Martin in Ushuaia. The scenery from El Chalten to Ushuaia is spectacular and we would go back in an instant.

Hotel Reviews
Los Naranjos
Ushuaia

Very comfortable and clean hotel with great breakfast options. We had a quiet room facing the side of the building (rooms facing the roads may not be so quiet) and found the rooms to be quite spacious. Bathroom was nice and roomy too. It was great to be able to adjust the heating to our taste (not always the case in hotels).

Vain Boutique Hotel
Buenos Aires

Modern boutique hotel with very comfortable beds, great aircon (essential in BA), well equipped and roomy bathroom and all very clean. Nice options for breakfast and good coffee. Nicolas on the front desk was a treasure. My only point would be that the rooms are quite noisy and we could clearly hear people in the room above, and were woken several times by people returning to their rooms late.

The glacier itself is of course spectacular, and we appreciated being able to walk around and enjoy the numerous pathways at our own pace. The sounds of the glacier was also amazing surprise - did not expect it and when we could find a quieter section to sit and listen was quite humbling.

Laura was an excellent guide on this fascinating overview of the history, flora and fauna of the national park, which is truly beautiful. Personally would have preferred one long hike as opposed to driving between three shorter walks but this is a personal preference. My recommendation would be to ask for more details of the day before confirming (which is what I wish I had done)

It was such a special experience to walk among the penguins, and learn about their lives. It was reassuring to hear how protected they are despite the tourism (their numbers are growing, a good sign) and our guide Pablo was perfectly strict about respecting them and their environment, which I really appreciated. A long boat trip there, for part of which we did see seals and cormorants, and a long bus trip back (great for a nap) but all worth it for the experience.

Mixed feelings on this trek - the view at the end was absolutely spectacular so well worth the effort, and the walk through varied landscapes to get there was also appreciated.
