Now that we've completed our whirlwind trip around Egypt, I am glad to provide a review for an excellent company - Egypt Promotions, that helped us design the tour, provided local services and were our week-long companions in this interesting country.

Once submitting an interest via KimKim, the system put me together with Ibrahim. And from the first minute of speaking to him, I knew he'd be a perfect person to help me with a tour.

I presented Ibrahim with arduous task - fit 6-7 major regions into a 6-night tour. Ibrahim took on the challenge and came up with ambitions plan that, once realized, allowed me to fulfill my dream to fully explore Egypt.

Ibrahim's company provided excellent and skilled drivers, clean cars with working a/c (dust doesn't count - this is Egypt); and supplied guides. Regardless of time of arrival, we were always met at the airport and promptly driven to hotels, which were all EXCELLENT and also either booked or recommended by Ibrahim.

Because of seemingly unrealistic schedule, tight deadlines, multiple inter-country flights, etc., I am really thankful to Ibrahim and his team for making sure our trip ran like a clock.

Separately, we wanted to note an amazing guide that accompanied us on our first day in Cairo - Khaled. He was superbly knowledgeable, passionate for his country, had deep appreciation for history and magically made Ancient Egypt come alive to us. Really a wonderful introduction to a country.

However, the guide that accompanied us for the remainder of the trip (to Luxor, Aswan, Edfu, and Kom Ombo), Mr. Ez, was complete opposite. Unfortunately, his English was very limited and we often had trouble understanding him, which forced him to frustratingly (for us and for him) repeat same things multiple times. He mainly provided limited bare facts - years, names - and pointed out few things. We had to lean on nearby tour groups to listen to their guides' explanations. He also never even tried to keep the hustlers away from us so we constantly found ourselves being surrounded by aggressive sales people trying to push their stuff or asking for photos. On conclusion of our first day with him, we specifically asked him: "Will we see you again?" He replied, "No." Relieved, we happily paid him his tip and said Good-Bye. To our astonishment, we discovered the next morning that he was joining us for the remainder of the tour. Otherwise, we would have begged Ibrahim to replace the guide before it was too late. Instead, we ended up looking up facts online trying to understand things we were exploring, which I found unacceptable, given the reputation of the company, and my overall satisfaction with them.

Aside from the above, everything else provided by Egypt Promotion was wonderful. I would never forget our magic time cruising on a felucca down the Nile and watching sunset - the idea recommended by Ibrahim, in lieu of a show that was pre-booked but cancelled at the last minute. Overall, I can't think of a better company that could show us Egypt, only wish that I could timely avert having to deal with Mr. Ez for extended period of time.

Without hesitation, I would recommend Egypt promotion to anyone planning a trip to Egypt.

We almost cancelled camping in the White Desert when we got to Hurghada, but so glad we didn't. It's probably one of the best experiences of the entire trip. Can't wait to visit again in the future!

This was an amazing once in a lifetime experience. Perfect mix of relaxation, thrills and learning new things. There were some issues along the way but this is Africa (I lived there 10 years so I know) and the team handled it great. The tour guides (Hesham and Muhammed) were simply amazing. Funny, knowledgeable, and friendly. Couldn’t have asked for more. The night in the desert was absolutely amazing. I would recommend this outfit to anyone. We returned home and talk about things that happened on this trip often. Very reasonable pricing for what you get.

The trip to Egypt was absolutely incredible. We did everything we wanted to do, and the fact that it was a private tour made everything that much more wonderful. There was no waiting on anyone else. We were also able to customise things easily according to our wishes and travel plans.

Tour guides Khaled and Ahmad were so knowledgeable and kind. They made us feel comfortable throughout our time there. We learned so much!

The accommodations were decent but could have been improved a little. We had issues with our keys throughout, for some inexplicable reason. The room we stayed in at the Hilton was a little old and could have used an update. The Nile cruise room was lovely but could have used a little extra touches to make it even better. But neither of these things detracted from our stay or experience! (although the key thing was definitely very annoying) The staff at the Hilton and the MS Semiramis Nile Cruise were absolutely fabulous. Such a wonderful group of people who were extremely kind and happy to help out. And the food was amazing! The chefs were so accommodating (both for coeliac and vegetarian concerns) and we ate extremely well throughout our trip.

I would absolutely recommend the Egypt Promotion Travel team to everyone!

Ibrahim was great. He was available and responsive to last minute requests and changes during our trip in Egypt. We were a rather large group, so was challenging at times to accomodate everyone, but everything turned our great. We had multiple guides and escortsts during the trip, all were incredibly polite, professional, and knowledgeable.

We had the most incredible time in Egypt and Jordan! KimKim made the trip super easy and super safe for us! We had a private tour guide and driver in each city and even people to help us in each airport location to make sure we had the appropriate documents needed. The KimKim Team was super responsive and worked with us to plan the perfect trip for us! We had the best tour guides throughout the trip, it started with Shade in Jordan! He was always on time, very knowledgeable of the area and took great care of us! We also had an amazing guide in Cairo, Khaled, he was extremely knowledgeable and answered our many questions about Cairo! Lastly, during our Nile Cruise from Aswan to Luxor our guide, Ahmed, was incredible! He traveled with us and made the trip especially fun! He joined in the boat festivities, made sure we were able to see everything we wanted to at each stop and coordinated everything needed for each tour. He was extremely knowledgeable but also a great photographer and helped us add on a few additional things to make our trip complete, like a hot air balloon ride. We really enjoyed getting to know him, he took great care of us while on the Nile cruise. Overall, I would HIGHLY recommend KimKim and the trip to Egypt and Jordan, I was blown away by the history, knowledge and people. KimKim was super professional, responsive, and accommodating! They made our trip easy with the guides and drivers taking great care of us.

We just returned from an amazing two week trip to Egypt and Jordan, and highly recommend Sherif and his team! This trip was planned and changed twice due to covid, and Sherif was incredibly patient with our questions and schedule updates. He also had great communication throughout our entire trip.

One huge win right out of the gate was the Dunes & Beyond representative, Ahmed, who met us at the airport. While others were standing in very long lines to get their visa, we were quickly taken care of by him, and to the car in minutes.

For the Cairo portion of our trip we had a driver and an Egyptologist with us for our daily excursions. Mohamed, our driver, has the skills you want in a Cairo driver. He was safe and able to navigate the chaos well!! The vehicle was clean and stocked with water. My husband pointed out that every time we got back to the car our dirty feet marks were even cleaned up. Above and beyond.
Lina was very knowledgeable about all things Egypt, and provided the right level of commentary as we toured the sites. She was well organized and we enjoyed her conversation! She gave us the detail you would never have through a group tour. I would not recommend doing this trip without a driver and Egyptologist. We talked to other travelers who did and found that we had a superior experience.

Petra in Jordan was for sure the highlight of that portion. We didn't realize how huge the Petra area is, and spent hours hiking through all the ruins.

Amman is one place we wish we had more time to explore. There is a lot to see close to and in town - Jerash, the Citadel and Madaba etc. - and we could have used at least another day to roam the markets and city center.

Overall we would highly recommend Kimkim and Sherif to others, and already have!

Our trip with Egypt Promotion Travel was the experience of a lifetime. Although some of the accommodation was changed at short notice, it was generally for an upgrade. The guides, company representatives and drivers we had throughout the trip were always friendly and helpful.
Our guide Mohamed Jamal in particular was exceptional: extremely knowledgeable, enthusiastic, patient, and always going the extra mile to take us to the best sites and at the best times. If and when we ever come back, we’ll make sure to do it through the same organiser.

The itinerary planned was met in full - Great service!
Even though the planning was based on a baseline itinerary found in KimKim, the local specialist helped us adjusting it to our timeframe and interests, with not many fillings that could take us away from our main sites of interest.
In addition, the guides were knowledgeable on the history to explain in detail, some times we got lost in the many names of gods or the different timelines, but is just a lot of information to capture in 2 weeks of ancient history.
We started our trip in Cairo, where we were welcomed by Mahmoud just after deplaning, who helped us to smoothly clear immigration and customs. We travel extensively for work and leisure and we believe we can move around airports and cities with minimal directions, but don't take lightly the help the tour operators and local guides provide in Egypt, is not an easy country no navigate unless you are local.
We had two guides in Cairo, Mostafa and Khalet, very funny guys, they did a thorough explanation of all Egypt history, but also adding context of the findings, the impact in the region and world development. They were also very polite to introduce the fillings to every tour, like the papyrus museum, to make it fully optional, not mandatory as other tour operators do...
After Cairo and Alexandria, the latter is not fully recommended unless you have extra time, we travel south to Aswan, where we met our guide Ahmed, very knowledgeable person, but tour guides in this highly touristic area seem to be more pushy on the filling tours, and are more expectant on adding extra activities to the itinerary, which we didn't like so much as it was very obvious and constant.
The tipping culture was not new to us, coming from the US, but the freedom of tipping for good service is universal, sometimes it felt compulsory even for not so good service....
After visiting Aswan, Abu Simbel, Luxor and in between, we returned to Cairo, and once again, were welcomed by Mahmoud, who was attentive of keeping us in line with our tour schedule until he left us at the airport checked in for our flight to Amman.
In Amman we were welcomed by the tour operator at the airport, even though it was way easier to navigate compared to Cairo's, and then met Ahmad, our driver for all the tours in Jordan.
Even though Ahmad is not a tour guide, he knows all the places to visit, and helped us meet our itinerary including the guides for the sites that required further explanation like Jerash and Petra. He helped us coordinate everything in the itinerary in Jordan, and this was a very good surprise as we didn't have high expectations about Jordan, only for Petra, but Amman, the surroundings, the desert and the dead sea were great additions to our trip. Including that Jordan is more organized and less chaotic than Egypt, so it was a good comparison of cultures within the Middle East.
In summary, we had a great time, we didn't have issues, we never felt unease or that we didn't meet the expectation of our summer vacation. We fully recommend KimKim, I personally don't like tours, I rather do my own sightseeing, but I have also learned that some places are better leveraged with local help, and that is what we found valuable of the connections KimKim provide, beyond the platform that was super easy to connect, communicate and fulfill our travel plans.

My wife and I booked a 10 day customized tour through KimKim who work with Egypt Promotions, and we have to say it was simply amazing. Egypt has so much to see and do and 10 days barely does it justice, but without KimKim we would never have had a chance to see what we did and feel as well supported and hosted as we were.

At every location we were met by people who really know their business and were incredibly capable, professional and there to make sure we had everything we needed. The people working with KimKim and Egypt Promotions are simply the best and we made a number of new friends during our tours.

In 10 days we managed to see the Suez Canal, pyramids/sphinx, the high dam, take a 4 day Nile cruise, saw so about 15 different temples and burial sites from Aswan to Luxor, spent a day and a bit in Alexandria seeing catacombs, the library and forts, spent a day and a half driving through oases and the desert with camping in the middle of the desert and finally ended back in Cairo for an evening before heading home.

All in all it was a trip and coordinated effort among many people in each location that we could never have pulled off on our own and KimKim made it all seamless and incredibly enjoyable. Company representatives constantly checked to ensure everything was good with our trip and accommodation, the Egyptologists who gave us the tours were incredibly knowledgeable and adapted to whatever we wanted to do with our time, and anything we asked about was “consider it done”

We rarely use travel agencies versus doing our own thing when we reach a destination, but in a country like Egypt where there is so much to see, time management is critical and we do not speak the language at all, having KimKim and Egypt Promotions work with us was absolutely the way to go.

Thank you to everyone involved in our trip. You all made it extremely special, memorable and we want to come back and when we do we will absolutely work through this company again.

We contacted Kimkim to help plan a 10-day stay in Egypt only a month before our departure date. Despite the short notice, it was an amazingly perfect adventure for four adults. Upon arrival in Cairo, Mahmoud Hashem, our local liaison provided assistance at customs and escorted our party of four to our hotel via private transport. We were happy to have such a warm and thoughtful welcome after several long flights.

Our first day, we explored the pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx with our charming and well-informed guide Mohamed Abu Elmagd. The following day we spent several hours in the Egyptian Museum before heading to Aswan via plane. We had an amazing three nights at the historic Old Cataract Hotel and explored the Temple at Philae and the remarkable Abu Simbel. A sunset felucca ride on the Nile was a lovely break from the heat of the day. Mohamed was warm and knowledgeable about history, local customs, and geography. His advice and assistance was greatly appreciated on several shopping excursions. He kept us on schedule but also allowed us to modify our plans based on our interests and energy levels. We could not have asked for a kinder or more enjoyable companion.

From Aswan we travelled to Luxor via private van. En route we visited Kom Ombo and learned about the crocodile-headed Sobek followed by a stop at Edfu and the marvelous temple of Horus. At Luxor we checked into the Winter Palace and over the next three days explored the unearthly Valley of the Kings, the monumental Temple of Amun at Karnak, the splendor of the Temple of Luxor, and the amazingly colored temple of Hathor at Dendarah.

We returned to Cairo via plane to attend the conference that was the original reason for our trip. Despite the heat of June, this was a dream excursion. We had a lovely guide, excellent drivers, and KimKim liaisons to meet us at each crossroad to make sure our trip was going as planned. The Egyptian people were warm, easily amused, and engaging. One’s view of history will be forever changed by their monuments, tombs, and temples. The beauty and magnificence of this early and amazing civilization makes an unforgettable impression. Every experience was breathtaking. I say that without exaggeration.

Kimkim’s suggestions and staffing via the local travel agency, Egypt Promotion Travel, were excellent. I would also like to add that this was a very affordable trip in relation to the USD. We stayed at 5-star hotels along with private transport drivers and guides at more than reasonable prices—possibly because we were traveling during the beginning of summer. Both the Old Cataract and the Winter Palace have historic architecture, large rooms, great AC, big pools, amazing service, and views of the Nile. Highly recommended.

Our tour of Egypt organized by KimKim exceeded my expectations . Our guides weew always available beginning and ending at the airport security scanner, friendly and knowledgeable at every venue . All guides made us feel well attended a with our desired pace and venue preferences. Also the hotels and drivers to travel to venues were first rate. I have zero complaints.

I recently used Kimkim to plan a very last minute trip to Egypt. I did have a list of sights to see but not much else. Sharif did the rest! He planned a very detailed itinerary that included everything on our list (and then some!) and did it in less than two weeks, accommodating some even more last minute date changes. What resulted was private door to door service to and from all airports, hotels, and tours, with private escorts and guides throughout the entire trip. The level of professionalism was extremely impressive. No detail was left undone; 5 stars in every respect. If you are considering travel I highly recommend using Kimkim. Sharif and everyone else involved, and my sincere apologies if I have unintentionally left out anyone, - Ahmed, Mustafa our wonderful Egyptologist in Abu Simbel, Mohammed who was one of our drivers, Mohammad our escort in Aswan, Mohammed our wonderful Egyptologist who accompanied us on our Nile River Cruise, Waleed, Adile, and Nesrine our wonderful Egyptologist in Cairo, along with all of the other incredibly warm and welcoming Egyptian people we met along the way created an amazing experience with memories that my family and I will never forget. We have taken many trips as a couple and a family all over North and South America, the Caribbean, and Europe but this just might rank as number 1. Many, many thanks to you all!!

Tour to Egyptian Museum, Islamic Cairo and Khan El Khalili Bazaar

It was amazing to be driven through Cairo, which was very helpful given the traffic. The Egyptian museum was extremely interesting and the mosques were both beautiful. The bazaar was a lot of fun and we had a delicious lunch there, at a restaurant that Nesrine recommended.

The was a favorite of the trip. The Old Cataract Hotel in Aswan was absolutely lovely and steeped in history. The cruise was beautiful and the staff and service were amazing.

Mohammed was excellent, a definite highlight! Our driver Mohammed was excellent as well. He was with us in Aswan, Luxor, and all the way to Hurghada.

First let me just say that this trip was great. There's no other way to put it, and our guides Muhammad, Muhammad, Mamoud and Mustafa were all amazing.

Muhammad 1 who took us through the temples in Aswan and Luxor was very animated and knew the history backwards and forwards. We really felt like we truly knew Egyptian history by the time he was done with us, and his passion for it made it more fun.

Mamoud whipped us through the airports like a champ weaving us in and out and making sure we were all set on our flights. I don't know that we would have gotten where we need to go without him to be honest! And the fact that he was a local helped us get through security checkpoints faster. He was also a smiling face when we got off the first plane super late in the evening, so he really helped set the tone for the trip and did an awesome job.

Muhammad 2 spoke English about as good as Rob and I and really helped us to learn about the culture more. He was awesome, funny and down to earth, and we really feel like we made a friend in him. He also knew a lot of history and was our guide for one of my most favorite experiences ever on a trip to date, camping in the White Desert. Ask him about the UFO's we saw there... :D

Mustafa was also super! He drove through the Black and White Desert sand like the pro that he is, and while it was very exhilarating (I may or may not have screamed a couple times lol) I somehow felt very safe with him. He was calm, nice and could sing and play instruments well too, which he did for us while camping!! Loved it so much. He was also a really great cook! I prob gained 10 lbs from his food alone. Lol

Overall, the great great memories made on this trip will stick with us for a lifetime. Seeing all the ancient sites and temples, flying in a hot air balloon over Egypt (What!!??), riding camels around the pyramids, camping in the White Desert (absolute fave!!), cruising down the Nile and meeting some of the greatest people ever was worth every penny spent! 10/10 trip.

Hurghada

Hurghada

I loved that this was a little different than what we had been doing and was a change of scenery. Somehow sticking your toes in the Red Sea is just a cool experience everyone needs to have. Also, it helped that the resort we stayed at was absolutely amazing.

Everything, except the heat in a few of the cities during the afternoon. Lol But it wasn't unbearable.

Food

Loved the variety of food we had throughout the trip. Some of the more authentic Egyptian dishes were very tasty to me, and I'm a picky eater. If anything, I could say we were fed too much!! Haha

Let's just say I made it out alive and that's saying something when it comes to Egypt driving!! Haha The guides and staff were all so pleasant and friendly as well.

We got where we needed to get on time and usually made it with time to spare! All of our drivers were very good and I only squealed a couple times!! Haha
