What you'll do

Your sun-soaked catamaran adventure begins when you meet your small group near the bay of Santa Ponsa and head to the port to step aboard a 42-foot (13 m) catamaran. Grab a comfy spot on deck or sunbathe on the trampoline net as you cast off and start cruising west. As you leave the coast behind, your captain will point out the Cruz de la Conquista Jaume 1, a monument commemorating Mallorca's historic battle against the Moors.

Continue past the rugged, beach-lined island of Cala d'en Guixar to enter the Marine Reserve Illes Malgrat (Malgrats Islands Marine Reserve). This group of islands lies in a protected 220-acre (89 ha) area of the sea that's home to diverse wildlife, from rare lizards to aquatic creatures such as groupers and sea bass that thrive on the rocky seabed. The reserve has also been designated a Special Protection Area for birds; look out for rare species such as the critically-endangered Balearic shearwater.

Next, head toward Port d'Andratx, dropping anchor in either Cala Blanca or Cala Es Camp de Mar, bays surrounded by steep cliffs. Here, you can dive into the turquoise waters to cool off, grab a snorkel to spot colorful marine life, or take the sea scooters or paddleboards for a spin. When you're ready for a break, indulge in traditional tapas and sip cold drinks from the catamaran's fully-stocked bar (drinks not included).

The four-hour excursion winds down as you sail back toward Santa Ponsa, passing Es Camp de Mar, a village known for its luxury resorts and villas owned by celebrities like Claudia Schiffer. Soak up views of the dramatic, cliff-lined coast peppered with secluded bays like Cala Monjo and Peguera, then pull back into port and bid your captain and crew farewell.
