Overview

What you'll do

This two-hour journey begins with a pickup at one of the designated meeting points. There, you'll meet your insightful guide and driver, who will take you to Lisbon's highlights and hidden corners on an electric tuk-tuk. This is a private group trip, so you can meet others and get cozy with a provided blanket if the weather requires it. The excursion's focus is to introduce you to Lisbon in a new way, so you'll zip through different neighborhoods. These include the neoclassical Baixa, completely rebuilt in 1755 after an earthquake devastated the city, and the bohemian Bairro Alto, a lively area outside the original medieval walls of the city that was first home to fishermen and Jesuits.

As your guide reveals the city's history and lesser-known spots, you'll see Lisbon intimately and broadly as you stop at panoramic hillside viewpoints. Your guide will take you to locations like São Pedro de Alcântara, Parque Eduardo VII, Senhora do Monte, and Santa Luzia to take in a clear and memorable view of Lisbon and see the historic districts you've passed through. Afterward, you'll be dropped off at a designated meeting point, and you can continue on with your exploration of Lisbon with this new knowledge in hand.

I found it a little difficult to hear her because of the city noises and noise from the tuk-tuk.

The tuk-tuk was fun but temperatures were very high and the tuk-tuk top was transparent plastic so we were hot. Also, driver facing forward was hard to hear.

Our family of seven had two guides, both of which were excellent. They were very knowledgeable about the history of Lisbon, but create enough space to answer our questions and have organic conversation during the tour.

This was a fabulous way to get around Lisbon. If you haven't been on a Tuk Tuk tour, it is essentially being driven around on a golf cart type vehicle. This is the perfect way to get around Lisbon to see the highlights. I love walking but Lisbon is pretty spread out and very hilly. Ines was our tour guide and was so friendly and knowledgable. I know the tram (cable car) is famous and really cool but I have to say it was super crowded, which doesn't seem like a good idea during COVID... Read more

The Tuk tuk tour was still ourdoors/open air but it was just the three of us and our driver. They essentially followed the same route as the tram tour. This trip was definitely worth doing and I would recommend it!

Tips for future travelers

Be prepared for BUMPY ride, Tuk Tuks are not a good choice for travelers who have mobility issues. (We don't, but it was difficult getting in an out--at least for a short woman.)
