Small town stop for coffee/pastry onto our boat ride down the river, and off to two wineries'. One a large venue and one a small venue. Each beautiful. Tips for future travelers

Beautiful country, rolling hills and valleys of green and grapes. It is so vast and beautiful. The wine is spectacular along with the lunch and understanding of the process of growing and harvesting.

Pedro was a great guide, but he does drive a bit too fast for the very Curvey roads in Douro Valley. He had the six of us on the edge of our seats. He said no accidents in 10 years, know the roads, but that did not make the ride less scary.

Tips for future travelers

Make sure to stop at a quaint little town called Pinhao. River boat cruise is also a must. No need to buy wines at the wineries, you can get much better deals in Lisboa wine shops.

My driver was wonderful. He went out of his way to tailor my experience and ensure I experienced Port the right way. The lunch we had with Rafael was very cool. I tried a lot of foods I never would have on my own and Rafael is an absolute jewel. The river cruise was wonderful but this is another experience I could have bought on my own via viator. I would have preferred something smaller. My driver, Rafael and the gorgeous scenery made up for it. Read more
