What you'll do

Today, your local guide will introduce you to the historic heart of Porto, their hometown.

During a three-hour walk, you'll get the perfect insiders' introduction to Portugal's second city through history-rich palaces and churches, such as the grand Rococo-style Episcopal Palace, the most iconic and representative neighborhoods, and, perhaps most importantly of all, the people that make up this wonderful destination. You'll also find out the stories behind interesting sights along the way, such as Porto's emblematic double-deck iron bridge, Dom Luís I, and the historic rabelo boats, traditionally used for transporting port from wineries in the upper Douro, lined up along the riverfront in front of the old port wine cellars.

At the end of the experience, your guide will drop you at one of their favourite bars or restaurants for a hearty lunch and give you some of their insightful tips on how to enjoy the rest of the day in the city, according to your preferences.

You can't visit Porto without crossing the Douro River to Vila Nova de Gaia and entering one of the famous port wineries! Following your lunch, you'll have the opportunity to check out one of the city's most famed port houses, many of which were built during the 18th and 19th centuries. Here, you'll learn all about the history and production of the sweet, fortified wine in the city and sample some of the delicious wines during a 90-minute tour and tasting! Saúde (cheers)!
