Naples Street Food Tour with Pizza, Naples

Overview

Discover why Naples is known for its culinary traditions on this sightseeing and tasting tour. You’ll explore churches and palaces of the historic center and gain private access to places where the masters create local food, usually not open to the public. Enjoy several bites of authentic Italian dishes and learn how to make Neapolitan pizza with a chef.

Many believe that you can’t truly know a place until you’ve had food with its people, in their own style. Neapolitan cuisine is one of the most popular globally, thanks to Naples’ rich ancient culinary tradition. The city’s nickname is “city of good food,” offering a mix of colors and aromas unique to Neapolitan gastronomy. A trip to Naples is a voyage through local bars, restaurants, and famous pizzerias, where you’ll find the most delicious pizza in the world.

You’ll start by walking through the old and lively street market of Pignasecca, full of flavors and enthusiastic sellers. Then take the well-known Spaccanapoli to reach the historic center and visit Piazza Gesù Nuovo, Piazza San Domenico Maggiore, Piazzetta Nilo, and Via San Gregorio Armeno. From Piazza San Gaetano, you’ll pass through Via Dei Tribunali and the old Port’Alba, and end in the ancient Piazza Dante.

During the tour, you’ll stop to taste and learn from the best pizzerias, fry shops, taverns, confectioneries, and bars. While chatting with chefs and pizza makers, try authentic foods like “cuoppo” di frittura (a “cone” of fried food), Buffalo mozzarella, Neapolitan salami, Taralli (small bagels) with almonds and black pepper, Ziti pasta, Neapolitan meat sauce, and eggplant Parmigiana. Then learn how to prepare a real Neapolitan Pizza Margherita and pair it with a good glass of red wine from Campania. Follow it all with sweet Sfogliatella and Neapolitan espresso.

This was out favorite tour of our entire trip. Maria was our tour guide and she was amazing. There was never a dull moment and she ensured that we saw everything we were interested in. We ended our tour of The Chapel of San Gennaro. Maria shared the entire history of San Gennaro and explained the meaning and ritual behind... Read more

This was the one tour we could have done without. While the Naples food scene is interesting and different from other parts of Rome we felt like we walked for miles with no real destination in mind. 3 hours is WAY too long. And after the first few tastings you're so full you can't really eat anything more. Read more

The perfect way to see and experience Naples. We all loved Frederica. She was so genuine, funny, and knowledgeable. She took us off the beaten path to see a true glimpse of Naples, old and new. The street food was delicious, especially the gelato from the chocolate store. Her love and passion for the city shines through her! Read more
