What you'll do

Your family day of discovery begins in Belém, Lisbon's storied waterfront district. With your private guide, you'll visit the exterior of the Belém Tower and the Monument to the Discoveries, learning how these landmarks shaped the era of world exploration. You'll also step inside the ornate Jerónimos Monastery, a masterpiece of Manueline architecture (note that the church is closed on Mondays and has limited access on Sundays). Before leaving the district, your guide will take you to Pastéis de Belém, the birthplace of the famous Portuguese custard tarts—a must-try for any visitor!

Next, settle in for a panoramic drive through the heart of Lisbon, perfect for families who want to see the city without too much walking. You'll pass the grand Marquês de Pombal Square, the boutique-lined Avenida da Liberdade, and the buzzy Rossio Square. Continue through Chiado's artistic streets and admire the riverfront Praça do Comércio before heading into Alfama, Lisbon's oldest quarter, for a brief but atmospheric ride through its maze of narrow lanes and tiled facades.

You'll then move toward the modern side of the city at Parque das Nações, a waterfront district rebuilt for the 1998 World Expo. Here, your guide can recommend a spot to have lunch with a view overlooking the river before carrying on to your next stop: the Lisbon Oceanarium, one of Europe's largest and most impressive aquariums. Families can explore immersive habitats that house sharks, rays, penguins, and hundreds of marine species. Following the indoor fun, you'll next help the little ones board the riverside cable car for a ride above the promenade, offering views of the Tagus River and the district's futuristic architecture.

The adventure concludes with a comfortable return to your hotel, wrapping up a day filled with sights, flavors, and activities tailored for every member of the family.
