What you'll do

After meeting your kid-friendly guide in Rome's elegant Piazza Navona, where Baroque fountains and buzzing street life set the scene, kids will receive an activity booklet to kick things off: younger explorers embark on an "urban safari," spotting animals carved into fountains and facades, while older kids tackle a treasure hunt filled with clues tied to the square's history and architecture. And while the games unfold, your guide shares stories that bring the piazza's past to life in an approachable way suitable for all ages, including teens and parents.

The walk takes a surprising turn as you head beneath Piazza Navona to discover the remains of the Stadium of Domitian, a first-century Roman arena and UNESCO-listed site. You'll descend about 15 feet (4.5 m) underground to walk through the preserved ruins, offering a rare glimpse into ancient Rome. Once back above ground, you'll continue to the exterior of the Pantheon, one of ancient Rome's most extraordinary architectural achievements. While adults admire its grandeur, kids stay busy hunting for clues and safari finds around Piazza della Rotonda, the square where it resides.

The games continue in Piazza della Minerva, home to Bernini's whimsical Elephant and Obelisk sculpture, a 17th-century statue of an elephant carrying a sixth-century BCE Egyptian obelisk, before carrying on to the Trevi Fountain, one of Rome's most beloved landmarks, adorned with sculptures depicting Roman legends, gods, and winged horses. Here, you'll join the timeless tradition of tossing a coin into the water to ensure a return to the city, while your guide shares the legends behind the fountain and offers practical tips for families—covering where to eat, what to see, and how to navigate Rome with ease.

The fun wraps up at the top of the Spanish Steps (all 135 of them) near the Trinità dei Monti church, where you'll soak in the scene before concluding your discovery walk with an artisanal gelato. The most challenging part of the day will be deciding which flavor to try!
