What you'll do

This half-day exploration begins when you meet your private guide/driver and set off on a walk around Mykonos Town (known locally as Chora), the island's picture-perfect capital. You can tailor the experience to your interests and energy levels, but you'll likely stroll past classic Cycladic scenes of blue-shuttered houses draped in bougainvillea, and follow narrow stone alleys down to the Old Port, where you'll explore the bustling waterfront area of Little Venice and stop by the town's traditional fish market, filled with locals shopping for the freshest catches.

As you walk, you'll get glimpses of the iconic windmills perched on a hillside above, built in the early 16th century by the Venetians who ruled the island. You'll also stop by Panagia Paraportiani, the island's most famous church, and learn about its unique combination of four architectural styles. Afterward, it's time to hop in a comfy private vehicle to explore farther afield. Follow a scenic (and entirely customizable) route around the island, pausing at highlights like Armenistis Lighthouse, which stands sentinel over the dramatic northwestern coast with panoramic views over the sea and neighboring islands.

Break for some downtime at local beaches like Elia and Kalo Livadi, famed for their golden sands and turquoise waters, then continue to Ano Mera, the island's only inland village, for a glimpse of the quieter side of Mykonos. Here you'll have the chance to step inside the Monastery of Panagia Tourliani, founded in the 16th century, to admire its marble facade, soaring bell tower, and priceless collection of religious artifacts and artworks. At the end of the excursion, your guide will drop you off at your hotel.
