What you'll do

This two-hour excursion gives you the chance to see Lisbon from a different perspective as you witness the city from the Tagus River. Head to the Estação Sul e Sueste boat station next to Commerce Square, where you'll board this traditional wooden ship. These boats were specifically crafted for the Tagus and for hundreds of years, were a fundamental means of ferrying cargo and people across the Tagus, so you'll get to feel that history firsthand on this sunset cruise.

This is a shared experience, so you'll have the chance to meet other passengers, find out about the history of these boats from the crew, or just savor private moments of soaking in the views from the Tagus. You'll pass by a handful of the city's major attractions, such as São Jorge Castle, Alfama, the National Pantheon, Santa Apolónia Station, the Tower of Belém, and the Palace of Ajuda. During this cruise, you'll get to enjoy the atmospheric sounds of Fado music and the taste of Portuguese wine. After sunset, you'll be taken back to Estação Sul e Sueste and be free to keep exploring Lisbon.

Tips for future travelers

Do the cruise during the day. Sunset did not really add a great deal to our experience. I'd hoped this cruise would give us more of an overview of Lisbon than it actually did.

The traditional boat was way too crowded!

That's just it: we had been in Lisbon for our first time for less than two hours before the cruise began, and finding transportation (cab) back to our hotel after the cruise was difficult.

It was a beautiful way to see the city. We really enjoyed it. The employees were nice and accommodating. It felt like it could have been a little shorter, just because it was chill. We were there with our kids and it felt like we watched people get more and more drunk. It would be nice if there was an option that didn’t involve wine, maybe geared for families. Read more
